Myself performing sound healings at an eco-community called Terra De Luz in Spain. I performed over 30 in 2 and a half weeks to approximately 100 people in total, using my vocals, guitar and singing bowls.
For me, 'sound healing' is not just about the relaxation of music, but also the opening through minor chords for example. I do believe in relaxing sounds, however, I also feel there's a place for discomfort within the sound healing world.
I think of it like you are an ocean, and the body of water is still. Calm sounds can help with stilling the ocean, and the discomfort or 'edginess' (I've also heard people use 'trippiness', as if you had taken a psychedelic like ayahuasca) is like the rough seas. Balancing the tranquility of levels seas with the chaos of crashing waves. The latter is used to open you up, encourage vulnerability or trigger something within that you can then look at and work on. I tend to fluctuate between these two states in an attempt to make an enjoyable, yet progressive experience for your own self-development journey here on earth.
I had great feedback from participants and some very beautiful healing moments of tears and sharing circles. Many people just found it calming, some it hit tender spots and some still felt incredibly emotional. Nevertheless, all felt held in the space and safe.
