Mega Man (known as Rockman[a] in Japan) is a Japanese science fiction video game franchise created by Capcom, starring a character named "Mega Man". The original game was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, and spawned a franchise that expanded to over 50 games on multiple systems. As of October 2023, the series has sold 41 million units worldwide.[1] Mega Man has gained cult status with gamers and has been reimagined and evolved as a video game character for over 30 years. [2]
Friday Night Funkin' (also known as Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game) is an upcoming rhythm video game developed by Funkin' Crew Inc. and released on Newgrounds in 2020.[4] The game is developed by a small group called The Funkin' Crew Inc., which consists primarily of Cameron "ninjamuffin99" Taylor, David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Isaac "Kawai Sprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game is also open-source.[a] It shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution, PaRappa the Rapper, and the "Dance Contest" minigame from Club Penguin, and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games.[5] The game has been credited with driving users back to Newgrounds, a site that rose in popularity in the early 2000s.
Mega Man: The Wily Wars[a] is a 1994 video game compilation developed by Minakuchi Engineering and published by Capcom for the Sega Genesis; the compilation features remakes of the first three Mega Man games, alongside a new game called Wily Tower, only unlockable with a completed save file.
The Wily Wars saw a physical release in Japan and Europe on October 21, 1994, and April 3, 1995;[6] the physical North American release was cancelled, with it only seeing the light of day as part of the Sega Channel service.[6][7][8] In 2019, The Wily Wars was one of 42 games included in the Sega Genesis Mini[9][10] and in 2021 got a physical re-release on cartridge, North America included, by the company Retro-Bit. On June 30, 2022, The Wily Wars was added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Reviews have been generally positive.
The evil Dr. Wily has traveled back in time in an attempt to defeat the robotic hero Mega Man in one of their first three conflicts.[2][11] Each game follows Mega Man reliving his past adventures in which Wily dispatches a set of powerful robots to take over the world which must be single-handedly stopped as before. After completing his travels through time, Mega Man must use all he has learned to tackle the Wily Tower.
Sonic.exe is a creepypasta initially created by JC-the-Hyena. The original story follows a teenager named Tom Miller, who receives a CD from his friend Kyle Scott and a note telling him to destroy it. Finding Kyle's warning to be a joke, Tom decides to play it, finding it to be a haunted version of the 1991 game Sonic the Hedgehog. The haunted version of the game contains an eldritch entity known as X, who takes on a form almost identical to Sonic, with bloodstained, blackened sclera and glowing red pupils. In each of the three levels, Tom plays as Tails, Knuckles, and Doctor Eggman, only for them to be killed and enslaved by X at the end of them. After all the characters are killed, a "hyper-realistic" image of the character appears with the caption "I AM GOD". Hearing a voice say, "Ready for Round 2?", Tom turns around, only to see a stuffed Sonic toy crying blood on his bed, his fate unknown (the sequel states that Tom unsuccessfully tried to hang himself to avoid having his soul taken by X, only for X to prevail).
The original story was posted for the first time on the Creepypasta Wiki in August 2011 and was removed in January 2014 due to complaints of its poor quality when compared to other gaming creepypastas, despite it being somewhat influential. The growing backlash towards the story led its author to publish a protracted diatribe about his grievances with the Creepypasta Wiki's decision, which only fueled further criticism.[73]
