Woah...Infinite Guitar
Created a lovely little Kontakt instrument inspired @TheCrowHillCo's gestures series - slide ebow guitar that moves up and down by an octave (also done one that goes up a fifth) transformed into lush shifting pads. Mixes beautifully with strings and synths too.

Sat down to noodle on the keyboard this morning, a nice little melody popped out, and suddenly I was swept up in symphonic gorgeousness thanks to SpitfireAudio''s Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (and this is just the strings) Cinesamples.'s Tina Guo legato cello and Native Instruments Noire piano libraries. Still blows my mind being able to bring ideas to life like this at home so quickly.

    Dude there is no way we have a picture of a planet 12 light years away. We couldn't have a picture of a planet 0.1 light years away. They know a relative size of the planet and they know what it's atmosphere consists of due to light spectroscopy. Light intensity decreases with distance by the inverse square law. We are really seeing mostly the light of the planets star passing through it's atmosphere. That star is a lot more visible than that planet. Look at how hard it is to see Neptune with a damn good telescope from the Earth. And at it's closest pass to Earth, Neptune is about 31.2 astronomical units away, or almost 3 billion miles away. So that means that Neptune at it's closest pass to Earth is only about 0.05% of a light year away. That means that this planet that is 12 lightyears away is about 24,000 times further from the Earth than Neptune. So there is absolutely no way we're getting anything more than spectroscopy data. I'm not trying to downplay it though. Because it's still real fuckin cool that we can do that. Anyway I'm a nerd too bro. lol

      They use some meters-wide telescobes, and James Webb is in space, positioned into a place where almost no sunlight interrupts it, no atmospheric stuff to intervene so it can see a lot more than on Earth.

    • @jl12781
      @jl12781 2 місяці тому

      @@Nl0m I'm aware that the JWST is positioned in the Earth Lagrange point 2 (L2). It also has a 5 layer thermal insulating shield that prevents any light from the Sun and the moon from affecting the telescope. Also by staying in the L2 point it is also shielding itself from the illuminated side of the Earth. This is because it is an infrared-reflecting telescope. Any heat from the sun would compromise the JWST. But any imaging of a planet beyond our solar system is just impossible as of now. And even if we had a telescope that was as wide as the solar system, And a very grainy image of a planet could be seen, there would be no way to have any clarity to the image. Due to too many factors such as the planets orbital velocity and angular momentum of it's rotation, This means that even if we could get a long exposure shot of the planet, it would still be a blur. There is just simply too much expansion of the light sphere between us and the planet, or object in question. Now stars we can see a lot further and in more detail due to their size and the fact that they are light sources. As planets reflect light, they also absorb it, and that diminishes the image. Even Type 1a supernovae (the standard candle) can only be used up to 1 billion light years. Which is a lot but still only a fraction of what we can see. But as of now, the only way we can get clear images from an object in space is to literally go there, take the high def photo, and then stream the data back to earth. And that streaming process takes a while too. Because the data also has to be transmitted through radio waves. Which is just another way of saying light. So it's not like downloading a movie from the internet. I think what will give us the break throughs we need to move our understanding to the next level, will be an ultimate compiling of the data we can gather. The entire electromagnetic spectrum, spectroscopy, and gravitational waves. It would be awesome to see a combination of infrared to gamma ray images and spectroscopy combined with LIGO data. And have that information combined together in temporal simultaneity. That would give us an immense amount of information, without being able to actually put our hands on it.

      @@jl12781 That is kind of the reason why trans-neptunians objects are blurry, let alone stars really far away. The images we got in soalr system is mostly out of fly-bys, JWT and HST is for finding new ones. The images we see on shorts are usually artists' expression via the datas collected by the satellites

    A possible counter argument, see what you think (and you know me, Dave, I'm coming at this from the dusty dry angle of Adornoian mimetics, so apologies in advance): Music with a strong beat in a fast tempo instils a feeling of urgency because the beat and tempo mimic the strong and rapid heartbeat and breathing rate of the emotion of urgency. Those physical sensations are not culturally specific, they are universal - everybody, at all times and in all cultures, associates a rapid pulse with urgency - so might a composer not be able to point at the actual structure of their music and say: "That right there is where the feeling of urgency resides in this music"?

    • @DaveGrahamMusic
      @DaveGrahamMusic 5 місяців тому

      oh absolutely - I didn't mean my point to be the only factor, there is also language...cultures with very different languages tend to have very different folk music. One of the reason music is such a rich and mysterious experience...there are probably hundreds of influences from sounds in nature to how our bodies and minds work that affect how we interpret music. I didn't mean at all that composers don't steer their music using these things, just that as listeners we can interpret music as emotional..even if it was generated without any emotional input. It's a common point that people make at the moment that AI-music has no soul. I think that's in the eye of the beholder!

    Well done brother!! Though an important point has to be made: you might have preferred break down this very same compositional moment ripping it off from the outro to Fairy Mary Mag, rather than from the original track where it actually belongs. To be precise, more than an outro, I would definite it a "bridging ghost track" which is quite a sensational technique Cardiacs adopts now and then throughout the album, if you pay well attention, and punctually presenting excerpts from other songs living in the same album, isolating picked parts of the production. And to be complete a list of the songs where this happens: Dog Like Sparky (Track 3) + Manhoo (Track 9) combined together used to bridge Dog Like Sparky (itself) (Track 3) and Fiery Gun Hand (track 4) Odd Even (track 13) used to bridge Fairy Mary Mag (track 6) and Belleye (track 7) Dog Like Sparky (again!) (Track 3) used to bridge Bellyeye (Track 7) and A Horse's Tail (Track 8) Extra: Foundling (Track 22) and Fiery Gun Hand (Track 4) echoing in Quite as a Mouse (track 17) Hearing the isolated track in Fairy Mary Mag, you'll hear there are additional layering going on, including a secondary melody sticking tight and harmonizing the main line and another piano coming from the left speaker as well as Tim's lovely voice humming sparsely the notes and the rhythm. =') <3
