    I have a question. I know a couple with children in which one of the parents watches your podcast. This same parent is regularly aggressive to angry at the other parent, this person's partner. Is it possible to be a calm parent when "you" are occasionally to regularly aggressive to angry with "your" partner? Note. This is a throw away account. I will not receive any private responses. Please make any response public.

    Great advice. I have a strong willed 17 year old boy and its always been challenging. I feel like i failed sometimes getting too angry and he still challenges a lot when he doesnt get his way but ive learned to let him blow off his steam and not engage until hes calmed down. Glad i found your page and wish i found it earlier.

    The comment about school is 100% correct. My son is only in preschool but I can see it with other parents, my niece and nephew, how kids are no longer enjoying school because they are deflated by what seems like a robotic system. I felt it myself where school no longer emphasized on your uniqueness and your strengths that were once emphasized during early school years but now forced you to conform and be like everyone else. Very frustrating to see what the system has become.

      It's tragic for a lot of kids. That's why I like to balance out school by giving kids an opportunity to use their natural gifts and passions to help others. That builds confidence and let's our kids use their unique gifts in practical ways. Thanks for listening to the podcast, my friend!

    How do you relate this teaching to the Holy Word of God, Proverbs 22:6, and Proberbs 13:24 God disciplines those he loves, we fear God, in the way we honor his word. We are to teach our children in the way they should go. Yelling and screaming and belittling a child is harmful! Allowing a child to swear or curse his parents or ignore their admonishment is sinful and unloving as a parent. As God loves and disciplines his children, this teaches us how to honor Him and our children are taught to honor their parents.

    • @calmparentingpodcast
      @calmparentingpodcast 2 місяці тому

      I would encourage you to listen to several of the Calm Parenting Podcasts as we address this repeatedly. No one says you should allow a child to swear at his parents. Of course not. Discipline means to teach, not punish. We live next door to a farm with sheep. The farmer doesn't hit his sheep with a rod. He gently guides them with it. We are train up a child in the way HE should go...according to his natural gifts, talens and passions....not according to the way WE think he should go. You pulled two four-thousand-year-old proverbs out as if that sums up the essence of how to raise a child. I could pull other ones up from Deuteronomy and Leviticus that require us to stone teenagers. I encourage you to listen to this podcast on thy God and Scripture don't support immediate obedience! ua-cam.com/video/iYWufKssuX8/v-deo.html

      Kudos to you because you have built a trusting relationship in which your son feels confident looking you in the eyes. That's rare and I applaud you. In our experience, when kids are in the midst of a meltdown, eye contact can be counterproductive because no one likes to be watched when they are struggling!

    I have a kid like this. So uncomfortable, I don’t know how to help him, but I never let him drown in his situation. He’s been bullied by teachers, other kids, he is basically different and everyone knows it. But he is so smart, and his heart is so big. We put him in a private school recently and he has blossomed, we praise the Lord for His help. This podcast helps so much too!!!!
