Roaming Southern Norway
Norway
Приєднався 10 жов 2012
Hello guys.
Well, I guess the name speaks for itself - Roaming Southern Norway - although I do other stuff too. I love hiking, camping, and everything outdoors, in the woods, by the sea, or in the mountains. As a child, 9 years of age or so, I was a Boy Scout here in Norway, but I left the movement at the age of about 19.
The interest and love of nature I never left. The reason I started this channel was as a motivation to become more active again, so my first videos are bike rides. As I progressed with editing and ran out of interesting places to ride I took to the forest, and here I am. The past year (as I'm writing this 24th April 2023) I've gained a lot of confidence and feel that I really am getting the hang of this UA-cam thing! I tried with an Instagram account too although that wasn't for me.
If you happen to be in the southern part of Norway, please contact me at roamingsouthernnorway@outlook.com
and I'm sure we'll find something fun to do! D

In The Evening Sun | Enchantment Between Ligth & Dark
Walking through the forest where I used to play as a child evokes a feeling unlike any other hike. Despite having explored more of these woods as an adult, that sense of nostalgia and wonder remains unchanged, no matter where I go. This evening, I ventured to a series of ponds and was fortunate enough to catch the last rays of sunlight before they disappeared behind the trees. On my way back, I experienced the true magic of twilight-the enchanting hour when light fades into darkness, transforming the forest into something almost otherworldly.

Fin tur 👍 Ønsker deg en fin kveld 😊
I hope you have fully recovered from your cold now Martin. I've looked up Autumn in Norway and it's from 1st September. It feels strange that we are so close in distance but have different starts for Autumn. Being further north it will hit you first too. It has done nothing but rain the last couple of days over here too. Lots of flooding. They told us global warming will be hotter summers and colder winters. Our summer was about 2 weeks this year. Yes, man does destroy everything he touches. No landscape is left unchanged. I had single expresso coffee once, and I had two cups. I thought I was having a heart attack. My pulse was that fast. It made me feel that bad. It could be an elephant 😂. The views were amazing as always. Will you be walking out to Denmark on the ice this winter, or doesn't it get thick enough that far out? Another great video, Martin. Thanks for sharing.
Autumn is beautiful! Although I hate the rain and all 😩 I think I've built up a rather hight tolerance for caffeine.. Probably not so good for things inside the body, but I like the taste and I don't feel any side effects so I see no harm (yet haha) I think that if we get as cold winter as we did last year it's definitely safe to walk out there! 😅😁 I have had hopes of doing a canoe trip or two but it takes a bit more to do than a normal hike.. With the canoe I need to usr the trailer and carry the canoe to the water etc.. It feels like too much work doing alone unfortunately. Thank you for always being here (and there) Chris! ❤️
Красиво!😮
Stunning mountains Martin. Winter is coming!
I think the closer you get to death, the more you want to believe in something more. The thought that you have been through all that heartache and suffering and there is nothing else seems so unjust. As for legacy, I just want to make sure that Amanda is financially comfortable after I've gone. I'm basing that on her age against mine. Another thing you think of as you get older is sin. I'm agnostic, but, if there is a God, then I've had it. But going forward, I have tried to live my best life. Hopefully, by doing that, it balances out the negatives. When you are younger, you see yourself as immortal, but life passes in the blink of an eye. It seems only a couple of years ago that Amanda and I got together, but in reality it's over 22 years. Grief is a big one. I've lost people before, of course, but always part of the extended family, not the core family. It isn't until you lose someone really close to you that you truly understand grief. It does get better day by day, but it doesn't feel that it ever will at the time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Martin and this podcast.
I don't know how i missed this one. Yes, you are right. I think we spend so much time being the man of the family and caring for others that we neglect self compassion.
Brilliant choice of music too.
The colours of the trees in the evening sun is beautiful ❤
It certainly was a slippy one.
It was very slippery some places! 😓😅
Amazing place to hike 🌿💚🌱
And a great hike it was too.
Mr. Norway. Definitely, I enjoy the colors along the trail. You stood atop of the mountain in triumph celebrating your victory with a cup of coffee. ha Your drone footage truly amazes me displaying the beauty of the rock formation, and landscape of Norway. Lime stones? Your perfect selection of music really intensifies the mood of the vid. Well done. Love it.
Mr.Norway, Plenty shower of the evening sunshine makes the mountain view so different beyond the extraordinary from my perspective. Wow I thought your drone may crash in to the top of the trees. very cinematic. The horizon line changes colors to the gold. You must have tasted your coffee special in a way. well done.
Mr. Norway. I see a sign of autumn approaching to your place in Norway. The trail is saturated in some places. oh no. Wow, ferns changed colors. Definitely, I started to see dressed mountains in red, yellow, gold, purple, and brown here. Beautiful bird-eye view paired with your thoughtful selection of music enhance the mood of your film. Well done. I truly enjoy it. I am back home from Mr. K's BD celebration. My comments may be vague, boring, and short for a while due to the conflict with yt gets worse. My comments are disappearing.
Nice video. Wishing you a great evening 😊
Flott video 👍🙂
@@stigfloberghagenphotography Tusen takk 😊
Some very good ideas Martin. Definitely something to think about. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding share
A very thought provoking hike, beautiful sunset and beautiful views, Martin. As for reaching out for help, that is sometimes the hardest thing to do, but it is a very important first step. I think as men, we think we are meant to be strong and not show emotions. That is how it seems in England. So people bottle it up inside them. Whilst in England and Wales, there are 15 people who sadly take their life each day 74% are men. One suicide is one too many. We should put aside our fears of reaching out for help. It is not weak to do this. It is being strong. We need to rid ourselves of this taboo. Another fantastic hike, Martin. I love the new choice of music, especially from 20:00. Thanks for sharing, and I hope you are having a great weekend.
You're absolutely right. The rate of which people DECIDE to leave this world is too high, well any number is too hight actually. Still many could definitely be prevented if it wasn't so hard to say " I STRUGGLE! HELP!".. Thanks again Chris, Autumn is definitely here, the threes are changing their dresses into all sorts of different colors. Take care 😊
Nice video. Wishing you a great weekend 😊
@@NorwayHikesTrails thanks my friend! I've noticed I've somehow managed to turn off the notifications from your channel! 😨 I have a few videos to catch up on 😅😁
Like you say, Martin, fear was once a positive thing. It kept us alive, alert. It is rooted in our reptilian brain, hardwired into us and an intrinsic part of our makeup. But fear, although still needed, is becoming a thing that can have a strangle hold on your life. Another great podcast, Martin. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it.. Fear is a really complex thing. Next episode will be a more light themed 😊😊
Have a great evening 😊
Very nice throughout all the best enjoy the weekend cheers 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A thoroughly enjoyable video, Martin. The hike certainly looked challenging, especially over the slippery rocks. The water just seemed to emanate from the rock. Hiking ploes can help, but if the ground is that slippy, they won't help as you can't dig them in at all. Certainly a beautiful view from both peaks. As for water, I carried 4 litres on my last hike and drank 3 litres. I put electrolyte tablets, 3 in each bottle. It is more refreshing than just water and will replace all the minerals you have lost through sweating. One thing is for certain, if you fall up there you won't be found any time soon. That one step up, over a drop to the left, looked really steep. Careful up there Martin. I always send Amanda my route and the buffer time, after which she needs to call the rescue services. I think you would do the same too. I love each new challenge and pushing myself to new limits. Nature is a beautiful thing and a great mental reset you can't get doing anything else. I don't mind meeting people on a hike but if I see no one, then it has been a great hike too. Myself, at one, with nature. You never mentioned the new podcast. I think subscribers need to be informed about that too. A fantastic hike with amazing views. Thanks for sharing Martin. Happy hiking!!!
Sorry for the late reply Chris! My wife always knows where I'm headed and when etc so that's great haha. I'm also 100% on board with meeting people on hikes. Newest video (currently editing) will have some podcast promotion 😁😁
Absolutely awesome hike bro. Safe adventure always brother
@@RodKrisBisdakMotovlog thanks mate! Love your feedbacks!
Nice hike, best scenery 😊
Have a wonderful weekend 😊
Do people ice skate on the fjords in winter, or ice fishing?
Some do.. But its a very risky business here because of the currents.. Some places you're actually able to drive cars on it 😅
Was that your daughter sitting on the cannon and you standing by the trees? The town looks beautiful in any season Martin. Thanks for sharing.
That's right, that's her! 😁
Do you still use your bike for exercise at all? I haven't ridden one for years.😢
I want to.. But I'm sick and tired of the routes here.. So I went and brought my parents stationary bike instead 🙈🙈😅
I don't know how I missed this video, Martin. I never usually miss any. I always wonder about the history of the old deserted houses. Who lived there? Why was it abandoned. Accepting you are broken. Hhmmm. I don't know if it is a translation thing. If it is a correct translation, then I wouldn't use a term like that personally or professionally. That would imply being defective. If someone identifies themselves as that to me, then I would just say that there is an imbalance in the chemicals in the brain. But we all have our challenges. We wear metaphorical masks. You show one mask on UA-cam, a different mask to work colleagues, a different mask to friends, and hopefully no mask in front of the person you love. No one has come out alive, I like that. I am the sort of person who can be lonely in a crowded room. Getting out there is definitely worth it. It definitely increases the good chemicals, the feel-good chemicals in the brain. Is The Bear coming out on another hike this year? I do agree that people use their phone too much in public. Is it a way of avoiding contact with others? We are losing the art of communication between each other. I love the story of Anderson and George. This was the start of the app that logs peaks visited. We have such logs in cabins. I couldn't understand someone reading up there. I would just be soaking up the views beautiful as they are. Another great video Martin. Definitely thought provoking. Beautiful drine footage as always. Thanks for sharing.
Always fascinating to look into and make up history around such places. Yes well it might be a wrong word to use.. But I understand it like if we're not the norm we're kind of broken.. Not BROKEN but not normal kind of. Quite hard to explain😅 I had almost forgotten the story about those two men, haha! The plan was to bring The Bear with me yesterday.. But he was busy, I bet we'll find another day soon though 😁
Looking forward to it Martin. Let the journey begin.
You earned that coffee and that view today Martin. Nice one.
I just love how the water cascades down the rocks, beautiful. Great choice of music too.
Hi Mr. Norway. Ohhh..Solo hike today I cannot tell fair , sunny day or overcast, but surely your drone flight has the audience thrilled. You are very fortunate to get back your drone to you after losing in the branches. I have heard the worst stories elsewhere. I cannot imagine your worries through your mind though meanwhile. Thank you for sharing your experience. Your hike is not just trek, but also about lifejourney. yayyayay...how is the weather in Norway? I saw a lot of red berried in the film. Stay safe, Mr. Norway.... I came back from my filming that left me cuts and bruises, my body is aching.... Look forward to your next hike.
Hope you're doing well after your adventure 😅👍🏻 well the weather here is changing, getting closer to autumn, and I guess we'll see changes in the leafs on the trees soon.
Another beautiful hike, Martin. I agree fully with you. Church and State should be separate, and both are run by old men who have never worked in their lives. They normally are born into money and luxury and have not experienced what we have. You were very lucky to get the drone back. Beautiful video as always. Thanks for sharing.
It get more and more annoying as the time goes by.. the fact that both religion and state is run by such people! Drone.. yes! hahah... better be more careful next time :P
Nice hike and video. Have a fantastic evening and a great weekend 😊

Beautiful as always. The music is bugging me. I know it but can't name it.
