Swinging it on the Ritz by Michael Powers
Переглядів 1,9 тис.14 років тому
Jazz guitarist, and now ukulele-ist, Michael Powers wrote this in homage to the great Jazz Ukulele innovator Lyle Ritz. When Lyle released 'How About Uke' in the late 1950's, it was a huge step forward in introducing the ukulele to the be-bop, and swing jazz world. You can check out the rest of Michael's uke tunes at urbanukulele.com.

Here it is, for all of you who attended Tahoe Area Uke Fest II in Reno and requested that I post this. It appears the mic pinhole on this little camera was a bit overpowered so I will extract the audio and clean up the noise as best as I can and repost it later. But for now, here you go! Movies of James Hill, Aldrine, Brittni, Michael, and the whole fest gang including Bartt, Dominator, Matt, a...

Clip from beginner's ukulele lesson - If I Fell
Been a fan of the greasy one since the early 80’s.
What a gift to the world. He is so dearly missed.
The Stitch Live show from Disneyland Paris should be brought to Disneyland California! The Stitch from over there is more expressive!
I did the one in Paris, but honestly, this one looks better. You have a higher chance of talking to Stitch here unlike in Paris where you’re in a crowd of other people (especially since they put the kids in the front so that they have an even higher chance of talking to Stitch, and you can’t sit there because you’re an adult 😭😭 Well, I’m an adult, I don’t know about you)
how come they didn't have Chris Sanders do this?
He is sorely missed ....
I will always cherish the opportunity I had to see him live in Orlando.
I feel privileged to have seen him multiple times: with Ry, with El Rayo X, and with Hani Naser. No one like him. RIP, Mr Dave.
Creative genius! Fortunately saw him again a few years back at Sweetwater. He played some baroque guitars & other stringed instruments…many of us hadn’t ever seen before. Grateful for all he left behind. May he rest easy now🙏✨🕊🌎
How come that thang don't sound like bullshit here?
This is so adorable, I wish it was still a thing 😢😭
Same! I remember wanting to do this badly when I was a kid!
This is like 1-on-1 Monsters Inc laugh floor, looking back on it now, haha. I remember this from so long ago as a tiny kiddo. Was too shy to talk to him back then so the parents had to do it for me, hah. The wait for it was pretty long since it was just the one room and the decently-long sessions. Think it was a Waiting List-type deal and you'd wait in the lobby until they called you up. They'd stick the kids with L&S coloring pages to cope with the long wait times if I remember it all right. Disney's interactive technology has come a long way since then, but I still miss this one.
Just so sad that this-absolute musical genius remains unappreciated and undiscovered by the main stream. No doubt why he, Warren, Jackson etc got along so well. “ let’s play another bad one then, ‘cause I love it when the blood drains from Dave face”
Take a bath hippie
Standard tuning?
I don't know how I just was turned onto this! So Cool! The Amazing Mr. Dave!
Total Master of all he plays, fingers dance across the fretboards and he is a born troubadour.
I occasionally come back to this video to have my mind blown again
The sound … the tone he gets. Unearthly. Funny how you hear traces of our in his uke and traces of his uke in his old. Everything bleeds from a good heart and magic.
Your comment was supposed to read, "traces of Oud in his Uke, and traces of Uke in his Oud". Auto-correct strikes again!
LEGENDARY
This is how a prow noodles.
Is this even around Disneyland anymore I’ve been to Disneyland and I kept looking for it but I can’t find it
no, sadly Innovations is no longer there, the building is now a Star Wars Store and also meet and greet characters
Simply amazing.
I wish I got to do this. I’d ask Stitch which planet he came from, and what it’s like in Hawaii, probably show him that I speak his alien language too, and show him the adventures of Superman.
Since Superman is also a famous alien with incredible powers.
I think I would probably show him my Stitch impression
I wish chris Sanders appeared live in stitch pajamas and makeup
The stitch burp is so cute and then says thank you so cutely
This is awesome!
Stitch is my favorite
He is not human :) such an amazing talent that we have all been lucky enough to have entertaining us for 50 yrs!!!!
I ukes'ually find the uke to be too cute by about half. But this is a whole mess of fun!
fabulous
the very definition of magic...this DOES NOT SOUND LIKE ANY UKE I'VE EVER SEEN OR HEARD. Shaman of the strings.
wat
Where's Chris Sanders when you need him?
See....it’s not the tools but the workmanship that makes great creations... bless him.
And Artistry
Wonderfull, faaaantastic!!! One of the greatest ever!!!
Nine one, man.
I try that once!
Mya-Moe Ukes are fine.
My name is Reno and my brother's name is Dave
No one else could do this! ..................................................
Whoo boy! Super stuff. Gee, I don't tune my (tenor) uke like that. Maybe I should. I'll work on my Baritone.
What a great show in Evanston Il. David is truly talented
Oudkulele.....?????
Making a uke scream ! Awesome !
vaya que se ve real
dude looks more like Steven Tyler.
Pam Horton does amazing work, she fixed my eyebrows & eyeliner that was done by a person who really messed it up...I live on the East coast & fly back every 2 years to get them retouched...no one else comes near my eyes...
I love Mercury Blues. The El Rayo X version was the first I heard. I've also heard Roy Rogers (The slide player, not the cowboy singer) do it. When somebody told me that a new country guy named Alan Jackson had also done it, I was prepared to hate it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't buy his record, but he did a good job.

BRILLIANT! Lindley could play shoestrings if they were tight enough! A maestro that is largely unknown to many. Heavenly talent with extraordinary melodic expression!
Reckon. ! xx
"Lindley could play shoestrings etc.." ... People could easily be forgiven for thinking that you were using 'hyperbole' but not me, oh no no! That man Daithí could not only have played shoestrings tightened into a sort of tuning, I am full sure he would have left the crowd in awe! If it had strings then Dave could surely play it like nobody else, what a legend, the music was in him and it had to come out. Peace from Ireland to you all x
Lol it doesn't sound like him but that's cool
Just saw David in Denver. No ukes this time but a fantastic show!
