When you can find a 2016 transmission with an eight month old factory reman tag on it for $550, yes. They are worth it. That trans usually costs about $4000 rebuilt. It works perfectly btw.

I think junk yards can be a huge help especially when you need to learn how to take the part off the vehicle go to the wrecking yard you can destroy anything getting that part off.. and you'll actually learn what not to do on your vehicle... Money savings can be huge on certain parts.

I only go to the wrecking yards when it's 40 to 50% off days...normal price brake rotors are $15. (you can almost buy new ones for that) sun visors $7.50. is high.

I do business with a guy who took over his fathers salvage yard. He wanted to sell the property but its so contaminated with oil after 80+ yrs, potential buyers wanted the issue fixed before sale. He would of had to pay for remediation which basically consisted of removing acres and acres of contaminated soil and cost more then the property was worth.

Nope. Absolutely not worth it. You get used parts at high prices, waste your time putting them in for them to be already dead or to fail shortly after. Then you've blown the time and money on trash and still have to go to pay and get the real thing.

Not hating on YOU-PULL-&-PAYS the (WAL-MART ) of salvage yards! But they are nothing more than a huge, greedy corporation that owns a ton of yards throughout the US! They have to keep the shareholders happy. Each yard has different pricing seams like. They charge fees after fees, entrance fee 3.00 non vip 2.00 vip, all yards now charge an entrance fee no matter where you go. Some yards won't let you in their yard to control damage of vital parts. But YP&Ps lets start with core charge, state fee, environmental fee 1 & 2, service charge by location, by the time you get out a 10.00 part is now 86.00. Yes sometimes you can find good deals at YOU-PULL-&-PAY but that far few. Once in a while you get coupons or discount saving alerts being a VIP member but I stay clear from them. Why because as more and more smaller (MOM & POP) yards close their doors or are purchased by the big corporate conglomerates or are forced out by crazy regulations then you will see how high you-pull-&-pays and pick a part will go on pricing. That's why I shop around anymore and hit private yards way better prices. The same part my be 25.00 plus tax out the door but way better then 86.00 at the you-pull-&-pays. after being a regular at private yards some yards treat ya better on pricing. but the most important thing is they thrive and stay alive. So shop the smaller yards.
