Nobody taught us about simping in the '80s. A lot of us had to learn the hard way early on, like Gary. Karen didn't set out to hurt Gary, she just didn't care if she did. Karen deserved Rick. I'm sure she ended up learning some lessons the hard way, as well.

This movie needs to be remade for today's audience. Its a dose of reality of WHY you should NEVER SIMP for a woman. It shows the bitter truth of female nature. We’ve all been there. I think Gary tried to show her what a good guy he is and it was all for naught. It shows that Karen wasn’t ready for a good guy yet. Gary may need some therapy to get through that. And hopefully at some point he’ll rebound and find a quality person.

This movie is a bitter dose of reality reminding you that life frequently does not provide the happy ending result we all would like. There is the reality of the world as is juxtaposed to the fantasy of how we would like it to be. Karen is the fantasy that Gary has built up on his mind, which was never realistic because she never reciprocated the feelings that he showed her. Gary is so swept up in the fantasy of Karen, he is unwilling or unable to see Rose, the girl who really cares for him in a way that Karen does not.

What you should notice at the end is that his friend rick knows. He knows he paid the abortion. The look on his and karens face is priceless. They felt bad for gary with that look as they knew he paid and they were back together. Now, what he should have done is punch rick in the face and walk off so he didn't look pathetic, and karen would have thought she chose the wrong guy. She wanted rick because he was cool and tough, so why didn't he? He was a stupid guy being in love with a girl who thought he was weird.

I saw this movie when I was a young teen in the 80s, and I remember rooting for the underdog in Gary, hoping he gets the beautiful girl in the end. But obviously the movie ended up in a completely opposite direction, which left me devastated and angry at Karen when I left the theatre, like seriously, wtf just happened. I've seen hundreds of movies which I've completely forgotten about, but this movie bothered me FOREVER, I never got over it. And when I started dating and got older, I realized that sometimes you fall in love with the wrong person. Some people tend to care more about their own interests and don't know how to not mislead someone and hurt their feelings. I'm sure many young boys can relate to this movie, but I can't say I enjoyed it.

Lol, i can see every time when you load a level in deus ex IW on steam- due to old fashioned hardware exploits it essentially crashes the game and loads a whole NEW instance of it when you go through a level load. Ever played the original? IW gets a bad rep for being smaller, less complex and giving out cybernetic upgrades easily.
