Lee & Jan cruise Norway, Denmark and the Med on Sky Princess Aug/Sept 2024.
As with our other flip/photo postcard videos this one is here on UA-cam for others who may be considering this or similar cruises particularly on Sky Princess or for those just interested in the ports visited. This is our flip/photo experience, it’s different and I hope you enjoy it..
I’ll start off for those that can’t be bothered to read my full write up of our 22 nights on Sky Princes, to be brief she’s one of the best cruise ships we’ve sailed on and this was our third time on her, yes it was at full capacity and seating was a challenge at night but the positives outweigh any negatives, to be honest I don’t think anyone was disappointed with her?
The ports visited for this 22 night cruise beginning on 24th Aug 2024 was as follows.
Southampton, Kristiansand, Oslo, Aarhus, Copenhagen, Skagen, , Southampton, Vigo, Cadiz, Malaga, Ajaccio, Marseille, Gibraltar, Lisbon, Southampton.
Embarkation. We arrived on time and were directed to a car park were we waited our turn to be seen to and our car checked for storing by the car park staff, pretty straight forward and no problems. Our luggage was taken care of closer to the ship.
Once aboard the International Cafe was very busy but we managed to get seats by sharing a table with an American couple who we chatted with, coffee and free snacks from the large displays were well received unlike P&O’s measly offerings recently. Lol.
We had a port side balcony cabin on deck 12 and were quite happy with it, the air conditioning was probably the best we have ever experienced on ship and the TV was really big and linked into the ship’s smart system, hope you are reading this P&O with your ultra small basic steam driven TVs on Ventura and Azura. Lol.
So what about dinning? Well the breakfast buffet was very good with the exception of the sausages, very busy and it could be difficult to find a table, lunch again very busy but with a good quality selection of food on offer, iced tea or lemonade always available free, did you read that P&O? Free. Lol. The evening buffet meal was similar to lunch but with a lot more choices added, yep much better than P&O that I use for comparison.
The main dining rooms. Three on offer and all great, the menu had great choices and the food was some of the best we’ve had at sea, I’d say even better than Cunard but much much better than P&O who have made so many cut backs on their mdr evening menu saving money on food and ink, I suppose you get what you pay for. Lol.
Speciality restaurants are available but can be expensive but as the food and service was so good in the mdr we saw no need to use them. Pizzas, burgers, dirty fries, hot dogs, ice cream etc all available at no cost around the very busy mid ship pool and yes there were problems here and I’m sure you know what they were.
Entertainment for us was hit or miss, we all have different tastes. I’ll leave it at that.
Formal nights were well attended with most wearing a suit or dinner jacket or evening dress but there were many who simply made no effort to dress up at all.
Princess excursions or extortions as we call them. Absolutely ridiculously highly inflated prices, we didn’t do any but don’t think we missed out on anything when visiting the ports but Princess did manage to sting passengers for courtesy bus charges from the ship into some of the cities visited or even just out of the port, we chose to walk where possible, not that we’re tight we just don’t like being taken for a ride, pun intended.
Ports visited on this cruise. Well do your research, look at these photos, make your own plans, don’t forget to make a mental note of back on board time and enjoy.
Negatives. Few really, lack of seating has been mentioned, soot at the rear of the ship, not many shops on board, items in shops at highly inflated prices and bar drinks expensive. Towards the end of the cruise many passengers had a hacking cough myself included when I got home and then there was a very small number of passengers who thought they were at Butlins or similarly on a P&O booze cruise. Lol.
Don’t get me wrong we love P&O cruises, got two booked, Iona and Ventura.
Disembarkation. Just as with any other cruise ship perhaps even better, no hassle really.

Honda CB450 K5 1972. The thinking man's restoration. WOW!
In Norway the model had the codename «Arnfinnfem»
Why is that?
Ah the memories, I had one just like that one back in the seventies. Beautiful job.
Thanks, yes I was pleased with the restoration and it was fun to ride.
I had a Honda CB 450 in the early 1970s. Amazing machine. Left behind the Triunphs, BSAs ect. 0 - 60 mph. 🙂
Honda cb 450 Japan artist
I had a 1973 last year of high school and right before I went into the Army. I really loved that bike, actually put 9000 miles on it before asking my dad to sell it for me before I shipped out overseas. Probably one of the best bike Honda ever made.
Yes definitely underrated.
Eventually found you it was good to meet
Yes likewise, we always wondered who we would meet first from the vlogging fraternity.
Just started Stinger Restoration- Aug 20024 in the UK. Have you got any Spares / 'Bits left over' ? You've certainly done a Great job on yours : )
@@davidalton7607 Sorry I don't have anything, after any completed restoration I always sold the left overs on eBay.
Great job. Looks fantastic.
Thanks Dirk.
👍👍 😊
I started the same journey on July 29th,and I found one bracelet in the safe box the night before leaving the ship. I have handed it over to the purser's office . The owner can contact the shipping company. I am leaving this message in the hope that it can help the owner get it back! Thanks
That was good of you I only hope the person in the purser's office or someone higher in rank are as honest as you are.
What is the point in posting endless photos? Waste of time.🙄
You should have read the attached transcript rather than just jumping in with a negative ignorant comment, hardly endless and not a waste of time as it's a cruising post on UA-cam that gets views from across the world and that's a lot more than you've contributed.
Very nice, excellent workmanship. What speed will it comfortably cruise at on a motorway and how many mpg roundabouts?
Thank you, on a naked bike the elements are against you, 60 mph is comfortable with burst of 70 mph now and again. I never calculated mpg as it wasn't important to me but it seemed to give decent economy for a 52 year old bike.
AWESOME!!
Thank you.
Beautiful bike. A credit to yourself and an inspiration for others. Quick question, could you share the sizes of the roadmasters fitted to this bike? Thanks
Sorry but I can't give you a true guaranteed size as I've sold the bike on last December, as I remember the front was standard size and the rear a size up on width.
Thanks Lee. I just fitted Michelin Road classic 3.25 and 4.00 to mine and it does have a similar stance to yours, which I was after.
Love that red with gold stripe.
Yep quite the looker back in the 70s.
Nice video , keep up the content
I'm happy that you enjoyed it, yes there's more to come this year.
Was you able to turn it on
I used to ride it. ua-cam.com/video/3PcCZ3aRu84/v-deo.html
@leeandjancruise Wow beautiful ride I bought one last year in black 1973 model the body is excellent condition, just no Compression suck's I have to see if I can learn how to work with these engine or find someone who can. Can't wait till I can turn it on an drive it.
@@Mustardmillions Probably be better to find a bike that is in very poor condition but has a running engine and use that, you need to be an expert on these bikes, you're local Suzuki dealer won't have a clue.
Wow, I would have liked to see how you got all the corroded aluminum (aluminium) pieces cleaned up and restored. Were they polished, blasted, anodized or re-plated somehow? What was in the vat you were soaking the chrome pieces in? Evaporust? Were all the chrome pieces then re-chromed after rust removal and polishing? I found one in a neighbor's front yard under a tarp and am considering buying it if he'll sell it to me. I'm not sure I want to take on a restoration project that big. I have others I'm working on. I was thinking of just getting it and passing it on to someone that could do an incredible transformation like this one. I haven't even had a good look at it yet. Great job with this one. I bet it looks better than they did on the showroom floor.
I used various hand power tools with abrasive accessories fitted and finally working down to a fine grade then the hard work really begins as the finish is achieved by hand and only then onto a polishing buffer. Got to be careful not to remove the contours of the parts being worked on though. Chrome parts have to be sent for re chroming or replaced at unbelievable expense if available at all. The mixture was some form of powerful toilet cleaner and coca cola. This bike would be just too expensive to restore at today's costs, unless you like a challenge and have plenty of disposable cash.
I had one in perfect original condition and it nearly ruined my knee because of a weird Kickstart mechanism, details elude me after 30 years, impressive bikes
I really oved the content, however the number of different transitions i found disruptive, because you have a choice of 10,000 colours and 500 fonts doesn't mean you have to use them all,
Well it does actually because I have no control over the amount of transitions, colour and fonts because I'm using a free version of PowerDirector and it takes me just 20 minutes to upload our memories and add some words for absolutely no monetary reward so I'm happy with that. I' pleased that you loved the content.
Congratulations super looking bike stunning whats it like one road ?i was toying with the idea of getting one but not sure on the 450 or 350
Rides and handles very well but keep in mind that it's a bike from the early seventies so the brakes are only adequate, everything else is good with no fancy electronics to go wrong, it's more show rather than go for those dry ride outs in the country whilst looking super cool.
We quite often film at the Stafford Classic Show, but it's always nice to see the history and work that goes into these beautiful bikes. Really nice job 👍
Thanks for the compliment. I think many who attend shows such as Stafford never really appreciate just how much work goes into a rare Japanese motorcycle restoration or the time and expense involved, when you do come across someone who does it makes it all worth while.
Hi Lee, yes seen it om ebay. Is it a fair price or are they making a swift buck?
Well they're not making anything until it's sold, they have a business to run with overheads and also take P/Xs so it's really hard to say but I got what I asked for and was quite happy with that against the bike I have now a Ducati Scrambler.
Do you still have the bike ?
No, sold it two weeks ago just before I went on holiday, I've seen it on eBay. Why do you ask?
Quite a journey. Thanks.
Some fabulous photos and great transition effects 😊
Thanks both, the transition effects are from a program I downloaded, see bottom right, as it was free it has it's limits. Why a photo album rather than a video? Because really that's how we see it, our personal holiday photo album but if it helps anyone then that's a result.
@@leeandjancruise that is so true - we have a channel and do videos - we started out doing it so we could re-watch and re-live our experiences when we are too old to cruise but others seem to like them and find them interesting as well so we just carried on 😁

@@leeandjancruise thank you - hope you enjoy them 😁
Great, looks like you had a fabulous time, thanks for posting.
We did, yes there were a few issues but the many positives cancelled the few negatives, would we cruise on her again? Yes!
Bought my GTR in April 68 in Vegas
A beautiful motorcycle. I had a Bridgestone 50 in the 1960's here in Australia
I's good to be different from the crowd.
A very special motorcycle, restored to an exceptional condition, Well done! Great job!
Thank you, I'm pleased that you appreciate it.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
one day I will be restoring one of these hopefully, and if I get it as good as you have, I will be well pleased - lovely job
Thanks for the compliment, you don't want to hesitate restoring one of these bikes, they are being imported by DKs from the States and sold cheaply so over time original parts will simply dry up or you could buy a good restored example.
We were on this cruise, so good to see this. Yes, the weather was ridiculously good for March. The experience in Malta Airport when leaving wasn't! But, overall we had a great time. Meals in Sindhu, Glass House and Beach House really good. MDR mediocre. With all that said, this cruise was cheaper than our first on P&O 11 years ago, so you get what you pay for!
Yes you do get what you pay for, if the itinerary is right for us and the cruise price is favorable then we go for it, we're on her again this December and the following December cruising the Canaries, bargain prices with generous on board spend, just returned from a TUI Marella Voyager cruise, it's a lot better but also more expensive. See our post showing TUI Marella Voyager cruising around the western Med from Majorca.
@@leeandjancruise its Britannia next for us (our third time on her) in the Carribean, mid-November. Great itinerary.
That's great, we too have sailed on her in the Caribbean twice and once in the Med I think? Done a photo/flip of those as well.@@kebond1
We love Azura, this looks like it was a fab cruise!
So do we, been on her three times and on her again this December and the following December. The eastern Med is indeed fab.
I had the exact bike but in the Honda green color. It was a reliable, economical, and fun bike and I'm sorry that I let it go.
So many look back and wish they'd never sold their faithful companion, their bike I mean. LOL.
Nice motor from 1970,,
Thanks, this GTR was actually a 1968 version.
Looks and sounds nice , tank looks very much like CB750 k , that epoxy paint used on frame is great stuff I use it on everything
Yes the tank is painted as the 750, lovely colour, the epoxy paint is worth every penny, sometimes for some reason it's hard to get hold of here. Other work has been done since this video including a total engine rebuild but after that it still performed and sounded the same. lol.
@@leeandjancruise Yes looks nice , my dad had CB500T (similar bike) never had any problems apart from sprag clutch (used kick start ) When I had CB750 in late 70's a friend picked up old 1960's black bomber CB450 for next to nothing , drum brakes and hard old tyres , he was rather fast on it though (ex racer) learned loads following him Anyway just got back into bikes in my retirement , got old matchless g3 and Thruxton 1200 that's far to quick for me lol but looks nice
Ride safe.@@nounoufriend1442
Great rebuild ! I have a 1970 MT-1 Parnelli Jones Mini-Trail that I'm just beginning to restore. Where can I find parts, I went the our local Kawasaki dealer and they said it will be very hard to find parts.
There was a guy in Canada, I mention him in the writeup, he specialised in these bikes but didn't have everything, can't remember his name or site. E Bay is also a good source for parts, just keep searching. Good luck.
Beautiful!!!!
Thank you, I'm pleased that you appreciate it.
Looks like new.
It was a challenge but I agree the end result was as if it looked new
Lovely work. Enjoy it.
Sadly I don't have it any more, it was sold to a collector.
Beautiful job.
Thanks, always good to hear from people who appreciate the work involved.
It's encouraging to watch other's achievements. have a 1966 Kawasaki B8S that I am going to restore this winter. (Here in the US) I would be delighted if it came out as well as yours. Again, wonderful job. @@leeandjancruise
The impossible is possible, miracles take a little longer. lol. Good luck with your B8S.@@mrmark8603
How did you rechrome the tank? Source please? Thanks😉
I used 'Chromefix'' in Birmingham for all the parts that needed chroming, I did the bright zinc plating myself with a kit I bought online.
Put electronic ignition started insanely
I have considered electronic ignition but at the moment using the original set up of double points isn't an issue.
Hi Mr. Lee, I notice your front tire rotation mark pointing backward by looking at the run time 1:00/7:01 On your video
Hi George, On the tyre there are two arrows, one pointing forwards the other backwards but the forward pointing arrow is obscured by the lower fork. Written underneath each arrow is the tyre rotation direction depending on if the tyre is fitted on the front or the rear of the bike, in this case it is correctly fitted. Thanks for you observation.👍
@@leeandjancruise Your job is very nice and sounds very good
You know that when I totally rebuilt the engine later on it sounded no different. lol.😂@@georgepoovan2041
That bike looks like its just rolled out of the showroom! Very very nice looks, and the engine sounds very good too.
Thanks Bert, the engine did sound good but not long after this video was made I stripped the engine to replace the cam chain, ended up totally rebuilding it, result> Sounded just the same. lol.
Is this engine " inspired" shall we say from the Italian Rummy?
A card game?
@@leeandjancruise Rumi. Moto Rumi
@@jezztech Quite possible, there's also a Portuguese model that's very similar but I forget the name.
@@leeandjancruise there was the Portuguese Famel, the entire bike looks incredibly similar to the stinger but its powered by a Zundap 125 cc twin, but the barrels are not horizontal like the Rumi or Suzuki.
This bike will NEVER go out of Fashion. It still has that "Space Age" look to it, even after all these Years.
thank you for the photos as this will be the cruise (our 1st one) that my husband & i will be doing in September😊
Your first cruise? Then all I can say is that you've picked a really good one as a starter, a great itinerary and good value for money with P&O.
You should have then called it a cruise around the UK and Ireland then.
I don't make up the cruise titles Princess do that.
