    Tip: High-end target pistols have rear sights that are adjustable in width. The Soviets researched it, found that the best ratio of light bar to front sight to light bar was 1:2:1.

      Sights are a rabbit hole of past trends. The Soviets also swore by semi-circle rear notches and even V-notches at one point. It’s all personal preferences and trends. Don’t see a lot of outdoor .22 EIC pistols set up like the Soviets would have preferred nowadays.

    Sight alignment is probably the most challenging aspect to teach in our program here in LA. We don't teach Center Hold at all, only 6 and sub 6. It's challenging for our newer athletes who have always aimed Center of Mass on larger targets.

    I blew mine up. My standard 9mm reloads were from an old loading manual and were close to maximum. The new manual show that as over max. On firing one, the case failed and took the extractor with it. It also chipped the slide to the right of the loaded chamber indicator. No other damage, and with a new extractor, it works fine. The case head is less supported than a 1911, with the case exposed above the extractor groove. I've rechecked my loading data to match the new manuals.

    I have a question related to memory and goals now that we both are shooting USPSA and others, do you ever feel overwhelmed trying to keep track when your trying to learn multiple shooting disciplines ? Sometimes I think to myself maybe I shouldn't have started a different shooting sport before I mastered the others first ??

    • @BullseyePistol
      @BullseyePistol 6 днів тому

      Lou, yes... absolutely. There is no denying that I am limiting myself in both disciplines by devoting limited time, money, and attention to multiple disciplines. That's the downside. The upside is that I get more exposure and am a more "well rounded" shooter. I'm probably not too far from limiting myself to one arena (bullseye vs. action) for a long time frame in hope of achieving my goals. (journaling works great in both, btw)

      @@BullseyePistol here is a 4:40 video that is very clear, without back ground music and in English. I did forget to mention, this option allows you to do a group meeting to create say a shooting match with another or more other shooters and or you could just shoot and chat with another or you could coach them or vice versa. The Washington state department of VA ,Not the BIG VA, providing me these 2 devices. They set this all up, mind you, I was the first to say WHAT I was going to with them. But they allowed it for the therapeutic stress management that and I only have 1 eye and can not see 10 meters.

  • @RichardRosenau

    Sorry so long post. Is it possible to do a short few minutes video covering. I think Tom Gaylord had 1 note of competitors in a match, the one that moves and shift their stance for whatever the reason, he would outshoot them because of that 1 loss of focus, placement, wrist lock, elbow rotation to lock, head, neck place, I hope you get the idea? By your response, I can see your intrest, thank you for that. I know that is alot and maybe not needed by many , I didn't see how to rotate and lock the elbow and wrist. Maybe you have already done this. I will review your posts A refresher video will not hurt and you could point out the various ways you improve. Forgot, the placement of other hand. I be practice my only PCP, Walther LP400(FYI, Walther warranty being $0 cost shipping to and from me as well as any and parts for repairs, (MINUS any cylinder) and from Beeman, and top of line, AV-46M, FWB 65 and 80. When I can outshoot the LP400, NEVER, I would buy something better. Yet, I am still building up physical and mental, so I start with 10 SLOW push-ups with 10 dry fires then two targets of 5 shots each, it is SUPER hard scoring 10 shots because shots over lap. I repeat this process. I only have the left eye and shoot right handed. I do set up a tablet with extra plastic and cardboard, the cardboard is cut for the tablet to see, I place it below and also rest my target box on a 3/4" plywood, the target box is a typical wood with 1/2" plate and 10 pounds of electrican putty, very few bounce out. I have an extra cell phone that is close to me and I use Google meet to link them. I also have a 1 inch Styrofoam and a tshirt between and the tablet. Nothing wrong about being safe. At the bright age of 53 and retired military, I am ahead of most on the physical and mental. With your discipline covering various shooting platforms, it is a great idea. Subtle music is great.

    I'm in this sport for the last 3 years and learned a metric ton about how important the little things are! Repetition is really important. Last week a colleague of mine shot a 1T 10.9 basically the closest to the center as possible. Absolutely amazing but in this Sport /my class we are shooting 40 shots in one go for a competition. the level basically asks for an average of about 9 points per shots. With that in Mind,good shots are getting you where you want to be, but the one or two bad shots are realy hurting your result in the end. It's simple math. For every 8 you get you have to get one 10 to stay at that 9 point average. As soon as you star getting those flyers it's getting way worse. A seven costs you two 10s, a six already tree. Following that, it becomes clear that only one mistake out of 40 in a tight competition can send you home. These Matches are really intense and stressful but o so rewarding when your team manages to win in a competition of 4vs4 after 320 shots by a single point 😄. Happened to us last year.

    Nice Shooting! Is that a Windows or Android Tablet that you are running? It didn't look like an iPad. If you where running an iPad there is a built in screen recorder that you can use to record the software. For Windows there is a separate app that you can use to record the screen. And I'm sure Android has one, but I couldn't tell you since I don't have any android devices. Using some built in or 3rd party software can save you some money if you wanted to record the screen shots and display them so you don't have to setup another camera. Plus it gets rid of any glare from the screen that you would get from a external camera.

    • @BullseyePistol
      @BullseyePistol 16 днів тому

      Hi John. I use this in order to stay proficient with my military service’s issued sidearm. Practice for quals, some USPSA. You have it right, bullseye is a generic term includes different precision shooting matches and disciplines. The most common is a “2700” match. This can be fired under two sanctioning bodies each having their own name for a 2700. CMP calls it “Match Pistol” and the NRA calls it “Precision Pistol”. Separately, the CMP also holds EIC matches under the various distinguished programs (pistol, 22, revolver). These are often held after or in conjunction with NRA/CMP 2700s. These presidents pistol match is held one time a year at Camp Perry to determine the Presidents 100 for that year. To the viewer these all look the same because each is a mix of static shooting in the same type of setup on the same targets. I plan on doing a video on this in the future.

    Had an M17-P320 for a season as a USPSA CO gun. Long story short, sold it. - Sluggish slide never liked going into battery. Sketched me out. Might not be an issue on the shorter slide options, but it was on the full-size. - Mechanical accuracy was “fine” but absolutely blown away by the Gen5 Glocks. - The way the thumb safety and firing pin stop work is sketchy. Especially for carry. There isn’t a real strong firing pin block or sear block in the design. With all the thin stampings and dogleg springs, it gave me the willies. - The trigger never got any better than “smooth but mushy.” I really liked the mags, grip angle, grip module options, and the direct mount system for optics, but the flaws were not worth ignoring. Switched to a Gen5 Glock 34 MOS and didn’t look back.

    Recently retimed my OMM (SAO short action from the 60s, needed a new hand because of a lazy cylinder), and I’ve fallen back in love with shooting it. Has the factory Elliason sight upgrade-much better than the factory Colt rear. For single action shooters, the Colts just cock faster and easier than a full-target Smith. Edited to ask: did CMP equipment control ever have an issue with the Ace shoe? I have a No. 8 shoe sitting in my cabinet but didn’t think they were legal for point matches.
