Beautiful. Twirling has changed so much since the 70's. There is so much more acrobatics and rolls where it used to be dancing while persistently twirling. We had to catch and immediately be twirling again or it was considered a break in the routine, yet we did none of the gymnastic moves you do which makes it an entirely different routine. I mean, we did splits, we turned 2-3 time before catching a toss. We juggled batons while twirling and did amazing exchange tosses. But the gymnastics that you do with it all now takes it to a new level.
It is certainly different! Solo is still the same in that it is just trick after trick, but the freestyle event has evolved to where artistry, gymnastics, and bodywork are much more important. Thank you for your kind comment!
