Guillows Piper Super Cub 95 RC conversion session #2
After some trim adjustments and shifting the center of gravity a bit further toward, the little Cub has settled down to be a nice flyer.

Dumas Kit # 306 DeHavilland Canada Beaver 30" wingspan. This is a free flight to electric powered RC conversion. First time the model was flown after receiving its paint job last December. Flies very well as is, but still needs a little bit of trim weight to shift the CG back towards the tail slightly.

My latest project, a Herr Engineering F4U Corsair rubber free flight model converted to fly RC. Tried to keep the model as true to the original free flight format as possible. All balsa construction, covered in Polyspan and painted with acrylic paints. The model represents a Fleet Air Arm Corsair of 1836 Squadron HMS Victorious 1944.

At 11 years of age in 2016, Rigbee is still hunting. A little slower and more deaf than usual, but still having fun. A torn ligament in his left stifle in February 2017 has forced him to retire early. In his retirement he's been helping out with training our young Welsh springer Bryn. Thank you Old Buddy, for 11 memorable seasons.

Bryn is now 5 years old, is a happy go lucky dog who enjoys causing chaos around the farm. He enjoys hunting with me when we get the opportunity, and just likes to be around "his humans" all the time.

An E-Flite 180 on 2 cells. More than enough power for this little model.

This model which was sold under the Electrifly brand was discontinued about 7-8 years ago. However, Hobby King has just released the same model under their banner. The scheme on my Camel was not the factory one. It's been modified. Cheers!

Beautiful plane very well flown! mine still stored in the box for a couple of years, for now I fly the Dynam Waco 58” wing span) but I really want to assemble my GP Waco electric convertion soon, I bought all the Tactic servos and the engine is a Rim fire 1.20 the propeller is an spectacular Xoar Vintage (I think it's 17X6) this airplane is a Beauty!!
I just used the recommended C of G from the instruction manual. The model needed quite a bit of lead ballast in the nose to get it to balance properly. If memory serves correct, about five or six 1/4 Oz lead stick on weights attached to the firewall did the job. I fly it with a 1500 mah 3 cell pack. A heavier battery might help to remove some ballast, but it's a tight squeeze in the battery bay.
Beautiful. Maybe tail heavy and too much pitch control throw? I've been scratch building free flight for nearly 50 years and flying RC since the 70s. Looks great. I scratch built a gas powered Neiuport 11 in the 90's.
Thanks. It was a handful to get that maiden flight in. The model has been trimmed and the C of G sorted out. With the short nose moment around the C of G the model required a lot of ballast in the nose. All because of too much weight in the tail. The full build is on RC Groups.
Glad you solved that. Someone gave me a tip. Build a small scale version out of balsa sheet and hand launch like a glider. Ballast till it flies right. Mark the c.g and transfer the location. I did that with the Nieuport, worked great from the first flight.
@@M5guitar1 Something to keep in my mind for the next time, thanks. This was the first model I've built in 30+ years, been away from the model bench a long time. If I did this one over, I would employ laminated balsa for the entire tail assembly instead of the solid foam I used with laminated balsa outlines. Even a gram or two in weight saving would have been a big help.

Its a set for the Hobby Zone Super Cub. Had to bend up my own wire for the struts as the struts provided will not work for this model. Nice Spitfire. I miss my Alfa Spit, which I promptly crashed on it's maiden flight. I was too inexperienced for it and was trying to fly it without expo. Enjoying my UM Spitfire now and will eventually buy another Alfa Spitfire.
