Back in the mid 1950's my old regiment the 1st Battalion Queen's Royal Regiment, whose Regimental Depot was in Guildford marched as a full Battalion down the High Street with Colours flying with Corps of Drums and full band before they sailed to fight the communists with success in Malaya. The streets were lined with soldiers of the Womans Royal Army Corps who were also in barracks close by. Happy Days!
