Welcome to the Lil Dumplins Nursery Channel! This channel features reborn dolls that are for ADULT COLLECTORS ONLY. These dolls are NOT TOYS. They are not made for children or child's play.
I have been a reborn doll artist since 2004. I am well versed in many different paint products used in this industry since that time. I have been known as the person who will experiment with many things and share both my successes and my flops. I try to always give credit to those who have helped me personally along this journey both directly and indirectly. My channel is an eclectic array of videos on different things as I feel the urge to chat and share. I am all about fun and sharing!

Col Oils Base mixed with Winton Oil Paints for Reborn Painting
In this video I show you how you can take plain Winton Oils tube paint and mix it with the Col Oils paint base formula by Jessica Collier (sold by Macpherson's Arts and Crafts) and mix your own heat set paints. I did a wet applicator sponge test and did get a little lift off of paint. Of note I did this while the vinyl was still a little warm and I also did have a Lot of color saturation for the demo. More than you would typically apply for one layer of painting a reborn. Once I let my test piece cool 30 mins and went back and tested the spot with a wet sponge tip nothing came off at all. So as I suspected, it needs to cool completely between layers.

UPDATE: Once I let my test piece (Col Oils Base mixed with Winton in video above) cool 30 mins and went back and tested the spot with a wet sponge tip nothing came off at all. So as I suspected, it needs to cool between layers.
MacPherson's is no longer selling this product. However, their new Xodus Thinning Oil can be used in the Winton paints to heat set them and it works extremely well with no sheen. It dries totally matte.

Thought you used arylic paint heat set is interesting I know can paint faster with it
I became extremely sensitive to OMS and had to give up Genesis for a long time. During that time I did paint with air dry acrylics and did a deep dive into researching all the mediums and various paints that are on the market. In 2020-21 I discovered that I could paint with Eco-house Extra Mild Citrus Thinner and it does not give me headaches, throat burning and itchy eyes like I was getting from the OMS. So I went back to painting with Genesis and then bam they went out of business! Lol! Thankfully when I got back into Genesis I stocked up on LOTS of paints before I could no longer get any. However, varnishes and mediums etc. I have about used up. So I been sourcing other options and in the process testing some of the new Heatset paints and mediums on the market now. I am somewhat of a mad scientist when it comes to testing all the limits on paints!
@LilDumplins kk I was just wondering because I thought you had a group for arylic paint, which I was in? but had issues while back with my fb being compromised. So miss that group 😆 I'm so happy for you finding the products you're a very talented informative artist and you do beautiful work.
@@marijo4141 I changed the group over to mixed media to cover all facets of reborn painting back when I went back to Genesis. The group is private and currently on pause for membership updates.

I wanted to come back and say that after I turned off the camera, I decided to take some of the Exodus thinning oil and add it to the last well where I had put the b.BC liquid medium and also added some citrus thinner, and it went grainy. When I added the Xodus thinning oil in with that mix, he grainy particles did go away. So the conclusion there is, you can mix BC liquid medium with your B. C paint and add some Xodus thinning oil along with that so that when you add citrus solvent, it all mixes together without going grainy.

Will the mediums work with winton oils?
I have tried the Xodus thinning oil and the Xodus Thick Medium with the Winton oils and it works well with them. MacPherson's actually sells Jessica Collier's blend base made from Xodus products to mix with the Winton oils.
