Turning my Citroen 2CV into BOND CAR
In a remarkable blend of passion and creativity, a devoted James Bond enthusiast embarked on an extraordinary journey to transform a humble Citroen 2CV into a replica of the iconic car featured in the Bond film "For Your Eyes Only." With meticulous attention to detail, he painstakingly modified the vehicle, capturing the essence of the cinematic classic. His dedication to authenticity and craftsmanship did not go unnoticed, as his efforts eventually led to an unforgettable encounter with none other than Roger Moore himself, the legendary actor who portrayed James Bond in the film. This heartwarming Classic Car Story of fandom and ingenuity serves as a testament to the power of dreams and the magic of cinema, inspiring others to pursue their passions with unwavering determination.

That is absolutely stunning. Would love to have it
Hi Alan, yes well looked after
Love Lancia Fulvia my father was uk principal for the Jolly Club motorsports team 68 to 73 running the Fulvias from his Garage in Dudley. Ive just done nearly 4,000 kilometers in a 71 1.3 with a 101 bhp doing the Alpine Tour 2024 with my twin brother trouble free.
Hi Woodrimcars, welcome to the channel sounds like great memories 👍
May we ask where can we get such classic car plate made?
Hello Regalcs, sorry can’t help you with that , maybe one of our viewers can help
I have the same model and love it. Agree that it handles like a Mini, but so much more fun. Mine is ex-Italy too, but imported to New Zealand about four years ago. 87 horsepower for the S1 Rallye like this one. The pre Fiat cars are more appealing to me, no cost cutting.
Hi Elblingo, welcome to the channel yes they are well made what colour do you have ?
Absolutely love the car what brilliant fun . Are used to own 2CV back in the 1980s , the first being I red and grey one then I traded that in for a 1986 blue and cream limited edition Dolly And my final one was a 1990 2CV special that I owned until 2001 that I gave to my nephew when I had to give up driving due to disabilities. He still owns the car, although it lives most of its life in his garage
Hi Asa, thank you for comments and story about the 2CVs you’ve owned , sorry to hear you had to give up driving
The engine is not the right One...,
Hello ruivaleriano , which engine should it be ?
Rodger moor, the quintessential English gentleman. and a super ambassador for unisef. r.ip.
Thank you for commenting Steven
Great film with very good production values and an interesting story too - well done. Keep up the good work
Hi Focusblack, welcome to the channel thank you very much for your comments
Es peligroso conducir sin el equipo de protección correcto Ropa ignífuga, cervical etc
Hi Alan , No because it has met all the standards and certificates needed to drive on a British road by the DVLA
I had one when I was a kid in the early 50,s we lived in the Lodge Cottage of a country hospital and I remember proudly driving around the grounds and waving to all the nurses 😂😂
Lovely memory , thanks for sharing Robin
Frenchman here. Once upon a time Citroën was a great brand manufacturing unique vehicles. Nowadays it's just another brand of the Stellantis group that manufactures mainstream cars like umpteen others. Welcome to our bland new world of automobile clones.
Did you ever own one
TEA is petrol TED is paraffin TEF is diesel
Hi Derek, thank you for solving the mystery 😊
Gear lever start? What, why ... really? I saw it with my own eyes, but I am still not sure. What a lovely tractor. I don't have a farm. I own no tractor, but I really enjoyed this. Go Jayne!
Hi TR4, glad you enjoyed it thanks for getting involved 😊
gear lever start is so you can't start it in gear
I absolutely love it.
Hi Buck, really nice car
@Classiccarstories They are an acquired taste. I really didn't start wanting one until my mid thirties. When I used to see these as a kid, they just looked like a weird Oxford or Wolsley. I wasn't even sure what they were called. When someone told me, I wondered what made it any different from the more common Wolsley 15/60 with the wooden dash? Years later in my twenties, I discovered that these cars were not well received by the public when new and they didn't sell in substantial numbers. The Oxford and Cambridge took the bulk of the sales. Strange, how much time changes our perception. I want one of these cars. I don't feel the same excitement towards the previous generation Z Type cars. They were okay, but not to my liking. Pininfarina nailed it just right, but the public wasn't impressed. The bigger 2.4 liter engine might have saved it, but they were going into big Healeys and the more expensive Westminsters.
Well done Jayne, who needs mechanics when you have Iris on the farm!! Amazing, I want a drive 🚜
Hi Julie , thank you for commenting
Really just a Triumph Herald with bolt on panels swapped no other changes
Changed the diff, in a Vitesse one of these, about '77, fun little car
Hi John , thanks for commenting
Some synthesised original triumph v8 noise needs adding, e.g. here’s my car ua-cam.com/video/buz4UU6pmKs/v-deo.html
Erg fraai !
Yes a very interesting car
All Triumph Herald
I owned an Equipe 4S that (I was told was the last to be built) (registration ALL8H) it was a lovely car to drive but unfortunately suffered front and rear damage from an uninsured driver that was uneconomical to repair.
Hello tjm, welcome to the channel that’s an interesting but unfortunate story
Saw one of the first ones as a kid..thought it the ugliest thing Id ever seen
Yes not everyone’s cup of tea the 2 litre I thought looked great
My father had one when I was very young.
Nice memory
What a fascinating interview and a lovely, unusual car! 👍
Hi Robert , yes interesting lady and a very rare car , just looking into finding some other models
Hello there can you contact me please? Bob Buckby of the Bond Owners Club, we'd like Rosalind to visit our stand at the NEC in November! I'm no stranger to Reality TV by the way, and have been on the Yorkshire Auction House, our Bond too!
Hi Bob, Have private messaged you on messenger😊
The Capri's lines were made for that green Lotus stripe!
Hi Miger, really suits doesn’t it
Great car based on the Triumph Herald or Vitesse. This one look fantastic. All the best Bob. (My classics are Triumph Stag and Herald convertible)
Hello Bob, welcome to the channel any chance we can see a picture of your cars ?
@@Classiccarstories send me an email address and I will send some pic's. Cheers Bob
This one based on the Herald chassis: the 2 Litre model (a different shape) was based on the Vitesse, though. I have a 2 Litre convertible
Hi Bob, if you are on faceboook simply post on our facebook page “This is my classic” here facebook.com/share/g/FJZ1Liz1VuVUPpkL/?mibextid=K35XfP
Based on Triumph Herald chasis I think?
That’s correct 👍
Almost completely Triumph Herald zero mechanical changes just some of the bolt on body parts zwappo
Man I haven't seen one of these in years, the last one I saw was in a burgundy colour many many years back so good to see there's at least 8 left hopefully more will come out of the woodwork & be restored though. A thoroughly lovely car & owner great stuff keep up the good work
Hi Tichwykes, thank you for your comments pretty rare car these days haven’t come across the original GT as yet
@@Classiccarstories Guy Singleton is the man to talk to: he has a GT, a 2 Litre Convertible and the sole (unfinished) 2 Litre Mk.3 prototype. He’s the Equipe Secretary for the TSSC. I have had several Equipes, one of which has been in the family for over 50 years
Looks great, as I used to work for Ford of Europe, the different market spec differences bring back memories, he forgot to mention the front opening quarter lights. Sweden was not RHD in 74, it was in the early 60’s, so the car is not Swedish spec & the heated seats switch looks like an accessory not a genuine Ford part. The twin number plate lights were fitted to all export market cars, they weren’t Sweden specific For accuracy as to the build specifications the options tag needs to be decoded Last point, the engine doesn’t sound right, it sounds breathless and running like a bag of nails
Hello Arthur, thank for your input on the car
It's pronounced "ekeep". It's a French word.
Thanks I was never good at French 😂😂
@@nrgcarrington ekeep pronounced means team in french.
that is quite the camel toe.............................
It has the Triumph 4 speed overdrive gearbox ... overdrive on 3rd and 4th.... Makes it very long legged on the road.
@@007JHS an easy modification, but Bond never offered overdrive on the 4-cylinder cars.
@@chrisg6086 The pic of the gear-lever with the switch on top was very familiar to me... I had a Triumph 2500 4 speed with overdrive... the pic may have been a 2000cc straight six model
@@007JHS the photo shows the interior of this car, with the 70s overdrive switch on the gear knob - I never quite "got" that arrangement, as I found the stalk on the column much easier to use, and that's what was fitted to 1960s Spitfires, Vitesses and 2 Litre Equipes.
@chrisg6086 Not having experienced overdrive except by this arrangement, I can't speak for other methods of switching... However operating from the gear lever switch effectively created a close ratio six speed gearbox... used to be great for overtaking on country roads... drop down from 4th to 3rd overdrive, when an overtaking opportunity (safely arose) foot to the floor and flick out of overdrive... My Triumh really used to fly.
@@007JHS I have overdrive on my current Equipe 2 Litre, and also on the three others and I love it - it's just as you describe, although overdrive third is almost identical to direct top in the Vitesse gearbox (I know the big saloons have a different gearbox with different ratios), but I just prefer the convenience of the earlier switching arrangement. One of my earlier 2 Litre Equipes had the overdrive, together with the 3.27:1 final drive from the non-overdrive GT6, which made it extremely long-legged. By the way you can hear my current Equipe (overdrive 'n' all!) on my channel!
Lovely car and the owner
Hello Martin , yes a fabulous car
The Consul Capri has to be the loveliest of all British Fords... The Consul Classic a close second...maybe equal?
Hello 007, welcome to the channel I think the classic is also a great car not sure about equal in my opinion but certainly has the Anglia feel about it , do you own a classic car?
@@Classiccarstories Not really... I drive a Jaguar F Pace... and before that an X Type... we've had 3 Mk1 MX5 ... the last one sort of still in the family as I sold it (at a knockdown price) to my mechanic and good friend's son... now have a mk3 mx5... I've had two V8 SD1s and my first car was a 1958 FC Holden sedan
@@007JHS nice 👌
Remove that halo, and change those wheels
I believe the Minor is a far better car than the VW. I don't like the VW motor mainly changing spark plugs and getting to the starter and the fuel leaks. Also riding in a VW makes me feel sick. The Nissan 120Y or 140Y are a nice swap for the original motor as very similar- ish.. The Nissan Cedric would be closer, Nissan copied Morris sorta.
Hi Chuck, welcome to the channel thank you for your thoughts
opening quaterlites
Well done , looks like an amazing car
It was sadly the car has had to be disassembled due to DVLA rules
My father owned an Austin A-40 utility. I had a pedal car but not sure if it was an Austin. Whenever he worked on his car I would get in the way so he gave me some spanners and I would "work" on my pedal car The utility covered an incredible amount of country and a lot of miles until we moved to the city when my father decided to convert it to a sedan. When I was about ten years old he brough a sedan that had been written off on a front end collision. He kept the front panels of the utility and bolted on the undamaged part of the sedan body. I helped him do this as well as helping to recondition the engine and gearbox. Great training for when I got my first car which was nowhere near as mechanically solid as the Austin.
Hello Gary, welcome to the channel thank you for sharing such a great memory
The ORIGINAL TE-20 (1946-48) had a "Continental" 4 cylinder engine. The TEA-20 (Late 1947-56) had a "Standard" (Vanguard car) 4 cylinder engine. From 1949 there was T.V.O. version (TED-20) and from 1951 a diesel version (TEF-20)😊
Hi Michael, welcome to the channel thank you for this excellent information
Too bad these are only toys for rich people's kids nowadays.
There are some good cheap restorations going on too
I love the Consul Capri coupe, and Bobby's spot-on, that styling is so reminiscent of the Galaxie Starliners we had here in the states. My dad had a white 61 Galaxie 4-door, and I just feel there is so much of the period Ford design language that's shared here. I concede the Consul Capri was more reasonably sized than our Galaxie monsters though.
Hi Elleff652, welcome to the channel thanks for your input 😊
My first car in 1970 was a 1962 Capri, two tone paint job with blue on the bottom and black hood, roof and boot. One of my neighbors called it the "Batmobile." and the name stuck... Took my future wife home in it (not impressed) but we are still together 51 years later. We moved to California in 1979 and have only seen three of these cars since. Would love to find one just for the memories.
Hi Harry, welcome to the channel , that’s a great story
Don’t electrify any Capri. Utter sacrilege is what it would be. It’s a car with soul, electrifying it would make it utterly soulless. A big part of the 280s character is its sound, why on earth would you take that away?
These used to be on every street
Yes very common at one time
That Mustang looks and sounds great!
It’s a beautiful car !
I remember seeing these as a kid in the sixties. Always thought they were special. Where have the years gone, they’ve taken all the style with them. This is class. Love the way Capris have carried that rear side window styling and roof curve, through the later models. It’s like a fingerprint.
Hi Mahoney , welcome to the channel yes completely agree make sure you check out our Consul Capri Lotus episode
Was für ein wunderschönes Auto ❤ herzlichen Dank für dieses Video! Greetings from Germany.
Hello AG798, welcome to the channel , thank you for your comments
I've never seen the leather / cloth combination for the upholstery before. Was that original?
Not sure Ron, will have to check with Bob
