Love the video. Been slowly progressing so thank you for posting! How did you come up with the center belt length measurement of 2 parts at 25 1/4? I was trying to see if it correlated to center point but that’s 25” and obviously there will be less since it doesn’t go to the middle but also extra needed for the rolled portion to secure the buckle. Also how did you determine the center holes for securing the center belt?
Thank you! Thus far of all the tutorials, this one has given the most specific measurements and has some of the best ways of connecting the buckle and smaller belt. Do you have links to the fasteners you used for the keepers. Love how you went through all of those layers and kept the fasteners hidden. Are the ones on the keepers also the sam brown ones? (Was going to ask about the weight but I see you said 8-9oz for larger belt and 4-5oz for smaller. Is there any reason to refrain from dying the pieces before assembly (but after punching the holes)? I wonder if I can find the right size strips already dyed since I've never dyed leather before. Ooh, I didn't ever think it would look good to have the button studs showing at the back but they actually look good that way. I was thinking of using a wider softer piece of leather to go around that area. Or even using fabric. I want to use elastic (or basically stretchy material like yoga pants waistband stuff) hidden in the back closure to give a little more wiggle room because of how my weight (and gut) fluctuate. I found a buckle I like but could only find it for 1" but I am hoping that won't be a problem. I can always use a little hidden e6000 or something to make the straps stay centered on the buckle thingies or use some sort of filler that won't detract from the look. I'm thinking a little dab of e600 on the belt where it goes between the button studs could make it hold up better for hanging stuff off of it. Subscribed and looking forward to watching your other videos.
Thanks!!! To answer your questions: I used the same sam brown studs for keepers. I posted a link to where I got them here on another comment, though that link is a few years old now so I don't know if it still functions. You can usually find them at Tandy Leather on their website or in-store. As for dyeing the leather, yes normally that is done before assembly. I didn't do that in this case because I was oiling rather than dyeing and didn't have to worry about dye getting on the hardware. A one inch buckle shouldn't be too much of an issue, especially since the center strap doesn't really have to hold anything. If you're worried about it, you could always just use a one inch strap of leather for the center strap and adjust the rest of the belt to make it work.
And yes, if you want the center strap to be able to hold weight, adding something to help would be a great idea. If you are really wanting it to be able to hold a lot of weight, you could add additional rivets throughout to keep it centered and help hold.
@@curdogmakesprops8449 Thank you! I'll have to see if the links work. Brain is all over the place with non-fun life stuff. I ordered some leather in the sizes you recommended. No Tandy stores within 100 miles of me so online will have to suffice.
@@curdogmakesprops8449 Thanks. I'm trying to make a custom lightsaber blaster inspired by Ezra Bridger's first lightsaber. Not sure how heavy it will be. Most of the parts are plastic. I'm using an empty caulk tube as a hande, found some metal conduit clamps, an old acrylic shower knob, the cap to a baby food jar, etc. I appreciate all of the info you've given me.
Thank you so much ! I've finished my first jedi belt thanks to you, and it's really nice !
Glad I could help!
Your video was a huge help to make my ever first jedi belt.
Awesome, glad to hear it!
What size chicago screws were you using? What was the oz of the belts?
I'll measure and let you know when I get the chance. The leather for the main belt body was about 8-9oz. The leather for the smaller center belt was 4-5oz.
@@CuRd0G Thank you!!
The Chicago screws are half-inch post, meaning the actual part it screws into is 1/2 inch long. This was great for parts where it needed to go through lots of leather, but was too long in some places.
@@CuRd0G awesome thanks!!
@@Randomveteran No problem! Let me know if you have any other questions.
That looks almost as accurate as you could get. Just the bits of the cheek areas that are like sunken in should have been black. That really bugged me and at the end it was difficult to see how well it looked due to the lighting.
Thanks! Yeah I should have gone back and painted those areas black. My original plan was to cut the tape so they would get painted at the same time as the rest of the helmet, but that proved too complicated. I kinda completely forgot after that point and never fixed it. Sorry for the crappy lighting at the end, I didn't have a way to make it better.
@@CuRd0G it's ok. Still liked how it turned out.
Do you know how to make the glove and boots??
I'd love to see boots-- or at least covers to make shoes look like boots. Half chaps or gaiters or something? Gloves would be cool too, although I'd love to see a bracer that sort of mirrors the belt but has a quartz crystal (resembling a kyber crystal) in the middle.
Where do you get the buckles?
I got the buckle I used from this etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/Saberbelt
Dang this is a great video. So as for those studs, the 8 of them on the big belt that the small belt is kinda threaded through, what did you get for those, and are there other options that are similar? Where did you buy all your stuff from? Maybe I've got some stores nearby that have the stuff that I need.
Most of it I got at Tandy Leather. The button studs I found on ebay cheaper. The buckle I was able to find on Etsy.
@@curdogmakesprops8449 Long time no see! Ebay is a great idea, I finished my belt more than a year ago, I went to a leather shop and got some strips and dye, it turned out great, thanks for the video again!
Do I need to have a belt that whole punch thing
You will need a hole punch for the belt. You can find a different one than the one I use, but you will need one in order to punch the holes used to attach the smaller belt and the other pieces.
I just want to make Anakin Skywalker belt please help me
Alright what do you need help with?
@@curdogmakesprops8449 So how far in do you measure from the edge of the large belt for the studs holding the small belt? I see the /3 part but I’m talking in from the top/bottom edge of belt?
This is the best video here, IMO, to show how to make this belt. Thanks a lot!
Thanks!

Hi, one question, where do i Can get the button studs?
Theres a few different places you can get them. Tandy Leather sells them as Sam Brown studs, but they are expensive. I got the ones I used in this video from ebay for a really good price (50 studs for $19) Here is the link to what I bought: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F152938404557. They were perfect for what I needed. I'm not sure if that seller had any left, but ive also seen a few different listings for similar prices on Amazon.
I'm thinking of making a grey jedi costume, and this video was super helpful for ideas. I was thinking of cutting slits in the bigger belt and lacing the smaller one through. And buckle it the same way as my kidney belt.
Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful! You could absolutely do that, that's how many old gunbelts did bullet loops. Just be careful when cutting your slits. If you cut them wrong, they can be a weakpoint for a potential tear in your belt. The best way to do it would be to use a hole punch to cut a hole at each end of where you want your slit, then use a knife to connect the holes and make the slit. If you have any questions let me know!
awesome
Thanks!
What size hats do you wear or how big is it in inches?
Sorry, just saw this. I wear a 7 1/2 and the mask fits really snuggly. Its a little tight but it did help keep the mask in place. If your head is smaller and it's too big you could always add eva foam to the inside to help make it fit better. I had to do that recently with another project I'm working on.
CuRd0G perfect thanks
Perfect timing ! I was looking into buying this soon and I'm happy to find a recent upload on it ! Good video earned a sub from me !
Thanks! The helmet was a good buy as long as you don't mind having to reshape if it gets roughed up in shipping. I wore it and a Starlord leather jacket I got from Amazon to the Endgame premiere at my local theater and people loved it!
@@curdogmakesprops8449 awesome thanks ! I'm definitely ordering now !
How did you like your helmet?
@@curdogmakesprops8449 oh wow you followed up ! I sadly didn't order it :( it's a bit more expensive in Canada so I decided to wait ! Thanks for checking up tho ! Really cool of you to do that !
@@moedarambla7507 No problem! Sorry to hear you haven't been able to get one yet. When you do get one let me know what you think!
