Congratulations! Did you use a 6mm guard at first? With that guard and that long hair, you needed to run the clippers AGAINST THE STREAM OF YOUR HAIR, i.e. from back to front, down to upward. If you have chosen shorter guard ( ~ 3mm ), you cound enjoy the 'right in the middle'. You can try next time :-)
