I actually remember watching this episode of David Letterman. I dtayed up just to watch it.

I lived in Austin for 50 years, and had the pleasure of seeing all of these great musicians perform with their own bands individually, and also together as the Texas Tornados. I probably saw Flaco and Freddie the most, but loved them all.

I was lucky to live in Austin from 1971 to 1981 and got to see Doug Sahm, et al frequently. Great time for music in a then small town. Oh yeah, and the T-Birds were house band at Antone's on 6th street.

Saw Augie in a small dance hall a few months ago. He hung out after the show and took pictures with everyone.
