This is about the peak size Yellow Jacket nests can get to, here in Northern Indiana. Nearly every nest we kill is around this size, which includes a population of 300+ Yellow Jackets inside.

Dustick Duster For Hornets, Yellow Jackets & Wasps Review - New Vs Old Versions
Переглядів 59128 днів тому
I discuss my love for the Dustick tool, for stinging insects, over my many years in the industry but there appears to be an issue with the newest model. I hope the issues get fixed or addressed so I can continue to buy and use them for another 19 years in the industry. Dustick is a great tool that comes with extension poles (4), a compression tool (to poof the dust) and a canister that holds th...
I Remove A Hornet Nest That Is Empty?? -In Real Time

I discuss my thoughts regarding this Bald Faced Hornet nest and if it is vacant or not. There are still some workers present in this nest, despite the Queen's already appearing to leave the nest. I also discuss why I think we will have a hard winter this year, based on what I’m seeing nature do, which is move to those over-wintering harborages about a month early. We are a small family owned pe...
Inspecting & Treating A Barn For Powder Post Beetles With A Flowzone
Переглядів 228Місяць тому
I had previously inspected this barn for a customer wondering what was leaving the dust/wood grass all around the barn. The customer wanted to save the barn and wanted us to treat the barn to eliminate the Powder Post Beetles that had been active inside of it for many years. I walk through the inspection, explaining the beetles and what the damage looks like and then perform the treatment to el...

How do you dispose of the "live" bugs after you vacuum?
There is a bag and we just throw the bag away.
Backpak vak + Bedbugs ?? Oh NO NO NO !!! I do understand about a good vacuum tho, Oreck girl here 🥰
Fair enough, ive only used the Atrix and I’ve had great success. I haven’t felt as though it’s been underpowered or needed more “sucking power” to accomplish the job 🤷♂️
That vaccum has seen some things.
I joke that it had the battle scars of a 100 year old sea turtle. 😂
Glad to hear some tips from a pro
Appreciate that and what I try and offer to everyone!!
These are expensive. Was looking to purchase one but their reviews are terrible. I think I might try a buzz duster brand. Thoughts?
I’ve never used the Buzz Duster, so I wouldn’t be able to help there. There are other options that have been recommended to me but our stinging insect season is almost over so I’ll have a few months to research and make a decision.
That's pretty impressive size of a nest. Doesn't take long to get that size either. Also it's cool to see another local to me pest control company. Your area is just outside the range I want to drive.
@@halucinator1 appreciate you watching. What area do you service? I try to stay within a 50 minute radius, then refer the work to other companies just outside that area.
@@shipleypestsolutions Northeast Indiana. Mostly Allen, DeKalb and Steuben counties. Just started two years ago doing it part time spraying mosquitoes. Finally decided to get my 7a and working to get enough customers to make it my main job.
Casually watching from Warsaw Poland
@@gekonproductions that’s great to hear and appreciate you watching!
Delicious fried
What if you kept scraping the tubes away? Would they eventually die?
@@squidleyskidley the termites local to the scraped away tubes can die but overall the queen/colony will keep making more if you don’t kill the colony.
I have never seen anything like that
Why arnt any flying? I get you poised the colony but what prevents them from flying
@@bf3forevergreene165 the temperature was close to around 50 degrees in the shade and 45 degrees and colder flying insects can’t flap their wings fast enough to fly, normally so I think it was too cold.
What is a worker drone?
Don't spray it, they won't evacuate
Cool
Just dye them or shave them bro.
From what is the nest made from😮?
@@bridgetbeckert8655 from regurgitated wood pulp. They will chew on decks, fences, siding, tree bark etc then fly back to the nest to form the nest.
@@shipleypestsolutions 😳😜
Old paper. They recycle for us.
Horse hair worms
Correct, as was pointed out to me from other commenters. Thanks for watching!
If you can get that out without breaking it, people pay thousands of dollars for paper wasp nests. The bigger it is the more they pay. Ive seen a medium sized nest sell for 5k
I see them for sale in antique malls and such for $2-300, in our area. I would happily start saving them if they sold for a lot more though. I’ve removed them cleanly before and you can spray them with a clear coat to help them hold up and display well. They do look cool in cabins and lake houses!
Always amazes me that a small insect can build such a large nest
Absolutely! Nature is so adaptive and is a great example when everyone/everything is aligned in a common goal to work towards.
Great view! Thanks
Appreciate that! I'm always trying to get better.

Where did you buy the attachment tip?
@@JoeSantos-g8v I got it from our local Veseris distributor but they should be available online as well.

Your credentials are irrelevant to a true DP. Glueboards provide proof. I also send samples to the Entomology depth @ UT. Had them tell me once "never send us anything from this lady again" lol Never fake spray. Refer to dermatologist, they have a little more credibility to refer to psych.
Not sure why I watched this, but I did go to your videos to find out how to use a Dustick duster and found nothing in titles. This a new tool to me and I would like to know more. Thanks for bringing this to my attention
You know, I think instead of starting the video with a several minutes long rant, you should've at least first explained to everyone that isn't a pest control person what the heck a dust stick is, how it works, and why in the hell you would dust insects in the first place. Otherwise most of us just like.... "uhhh ok? dude mad"
I appreciate your reply because most of these "inside the industry" videos I don't really consider that non pest control people are or will watch. I will do a better job in the future to give a brief explanation of the tools and assume that someone might not have a clue what I am talking about. Appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching!
Maybe u should do this at night genius. Probably wont need a 4th time then.
I said "years in a row", not nights but yeah sure. Each time has been one treatment (dusting) and the nest is taken care of.
They have humming bird feeders for this reason.
Smoke it out
Absolutely! I used an aerosolized fumigant, then scraped it down for the customer.
Wow you get one defective item and instead of getting a refund you turn into a Karen on UA-cam. Bravo. Why the fk was this soy crap in my feed!
Transfer the gaskets??
Yes, I pulled one from an older one, it’s just a piece of foam.
I have notice the spiders also along side the houses. Also stink bugs trying to over winter already. South East Ohio here nice job.
Yeap! I also noticed the stinkbugs moving late last week as well as they are starting to pick our crops. Appreciate the continued support and good luck in your area!
I think it is more because there was an early warm spring after a mild winter. The nest(s) started early, so ended early. I have heard only predictions for another mild winter so far.
We've had a few early springs in a row. Last year was very similar and I was killing active nest's into November (Northern Indiana). Also the other wildlife, like mice moving early is also very odd to me. I've heard mixed predictions, between the farmers almanac etc.
Job well done.
Thank you & Appreciate the compliment!

Charge more! As a homeowner, first time have YJ’s..got my yard guy once, and me twice! I spent $200+ between, bee suit, defense dust, BASF wasp freeze, 1 trip to ER, 2 trips later to doctor for inhalers and steroids! Currently I have honey and apple juice laced with boric acid (1 tsp boric acid to 8oz of liquid. ) I take clear soda bottles, cut a 1” x 6” horizontal opening, add 1-2” of liquid and then insert twigs to allow them to walk out. It’s supposed to eradicate the hive in 10-14 days. The foragers feed on the bait, and take it back to the hive. So far, I haven’t seen anymore. About a week ago the whole area smelled sweet like syrup. No swarms, and no pets were stung, I am hoping it was the hive dying off and sweet smell was what I smelled..we will see!
I've been told to charge more. It's a fine line to be able to deliver a reasonable solution while not charging an egregious amount. I do bring up an ER visit and such to people that push back on $125-150.
awesome
Keep it going. Three years in a row....maybe do something to fill it in with cement or something.
@@9999deoxys I advised them to spray foam the void or remove the rail road ties, so they are aware.
That’s a lot of work very nice. Did you use bora care I think that is the name of it ?
I have used boracare in the past but I didn’t here. I’ve had great success using newer products labeled for Powder Post/Lyctid beetles such as Temprid FX.
Nice work! How much time did it take start to finish? Thanks!
Mixing product, prepping etc took a little under 1 hour. The flowzone saved probably close to an hour of labor, honestly.
What dust did you use? Delta or drione?
You shld show the treatment process.
I filmed it and will show the treatment as well!
Fk em up!!!!!
Brake Parts Cleaner....drop every wasp to scrapbook material
They eat humming birds ?
Yes, they can. There are many videos on youtube showing it.
My grandfather always said that praying mantis will turn brown when she makes her egg sack so she blends in with it.
Agreed
They freak me out when they fly
Nukm 😂
