looks like the right fin for the garden cove mud flats but dont forget your great body drags
Nice board -
Nice duck jibe Jim... Good strong throw on the clew makes it happen!
What size sail are you on I have just got a 8"2 f2 maui
I think that was 4.7. I’ve sailed it with 4.0 a couple times as well. it’s a good high wind board. I recently got the Maui Project 8’6”but haven’t had a chance to sail it yet.
Great ridealong! Love the chat while you sail.
Lookin good😅
Looking good can’t wait for Sunday.
What fin size is that?
14.5" True Ames Weed Blade
Duuuude, long straight line ripping is the shizz! Great vid!
Awesome board! I have that and also a 96.
Cool, I was wondering if the 96 has cut outs in the back my 106 has cut outs. I also have an 82 L but it does not have cut out. Do you know the year of these boards I think my 82 L is a 2004 and my one 06 L is a 2005 with the cut outs.
@ yes the 96 has cut outs mine are 2007 so actually the 2nd gen, yours is the 2006 first gen. Both are fast boards regularly over 30knts, I haven’t had ideal conditions for the 96 I suspect it can go much faster!
Oops yeah 2005was gen 1.
@@ricktodd4096 I know someone with a 115 liter and was thinking about getting it for use with 7+ meter sails but it does not have the cutouts.. I would like to find a 96 liter as well.
@ I also have a JP super sport pro 79 (136l) and saw same board but smaller 100l…..obsession 🤪😜🤣
Cool
How is it like freeriding with a freestyle board? is it better than a freeride board? I only have freeride and freerace boards and never had the chance to try a freestyle board in a freeride session.
I suppose it is similar. Freestyle boards are designed to accellerate quickly and get up to speed for maneuvers, so they are easy to ride. This model has the twin footstrap option in the back. I believe it was the last year (2011) that the skate had this option. Most freestyle have only the center option which doesn't allow for an outside footstrap stance . At 110 liters I use this as my big board with a 7.3 Hot sails camless speed demon and a 14.5 inch weed blade fin. It can be pretty fast.
@@jimikrikit Many thanks jimi for such a detailed response!
Looks fast.
Cool! 🔥
Sick! 🔥
spot.race.comentary. 👌- thanks for sharing
Miss sailing the keys so much!
Well done!
Nice! What's the volume on the Fanatic?
That is a 110 liter Fanatic Skate from 2011. I believe it was the last year they had twin footstrap positons in the back. With the double rear straps you can sail it like a slalom board. It's pretty quick.👍👍
Headed there tomorrow !!!
Looks Good!! I may get up there Wednesday 👍
dang! where was this?
Islamorada Sandbar flats. Florida Keys
Go HOT sails :-)
Okay! I thought it was a KS3 Spider, but that would not have that batten below the window. I recently bought an as new Naish 8‘4“ classic from 1999 for 50 €. Powered up with a North Sails 3Di it‘s still all the fun you can have in windsurfing.
Was in Miami in April and was wondering why I do not any windsurfers or kiters all the way to Key West
I live in the upper keys and sail with a dozen or so windsurfers. There are more Kiters in the Keys and you will see them in areas like Annes Beach in Islamorada, Curry Hammock Park in Marathon and down in Key West.
So many old boards still go nicely with those new superlight sails! Naish 8‘5 of 2004?
It's a fun board! I paid $60 for it! It was designed for the old supercross racing where you jumped obstacles, but had to be fast. 94 liters 257 long, The sail is a 2000 Hot Sails Spider Slide. As light as any modern sail. 👍👍
classy quiver.
Ouch! dANG... DOUBLE DANG!! Backwind screw driver... Are you trying to kill yourself?
I will be there tomorrow, hope to meet you Jimmy!
Christian! Woot!
Ahh yes... my old stomping grounds. A bit more chop than the flats where you usually sail but nice for chop hopping on a windy day!
Hate it when that happens. Cross a sandbar here on fin and foil and I'm going to have to be more careful after Helene and Milton
Insurance going up! JK... I know the feeling.
Water looks a lot smoother than where I’m sailing today from my RV spot in Sunshine Key. We were getting 23 to 30 mph winds.
HA HA Yea it's smooth because its almost low tide and really shallow. I tried cutting across one sandbar and got face planted. ouch ! The wind should hold out all weekend.
This looks awesome but there are still Great White sharks out there that might think the board is dinner.
Crazy. While I'm still fighting the 16kts gusts on 12kts wind with a 5.7, trying to get my body fat slowly converted into enough muscle mass to hold an 8.0 and get gliding. Thanks for the video, Jim!
What's the volume on that F2 board Jim compared to your Seatrend 260? Did you take the 260 out in this storm at all?
It's about 81 liters. The Seatrend 260 is 86 I believe and too fast. I needed something that I could try and control. I have an 82 liter JP super-x that I sailed the day before, but it also is super fast and gets hard to control. The Maui project has a thin tail and a raised pad in the middle by the fin that keeps it controlable to a point. I needed a 3.2 and a multi-fin setup. ha ha
@@jimikrikit Yeah, good deal on the 4.0 though... can't beat that price especially if it's never been wet! Smallest sail I have is a 3.7 but sounds like I still would have been a bit overpowered out there with that on the 260 and probably bouncing all over the place. Definitely helps to have the right gear in that kind of wind even on flat water. 🤙
What's the wind speed like for this ride?
The closest wind site at Alligator Reef Light was showing average wind speeds 35-38 gusting into mid 40's and peak gusts to 50 mph. It was stupid windy !
Great conditions. If you record on GoPro switch on the GPS, we’ll be able to see your speed then. 😊
Ride 'em cowboy!!
Amazing conditions!
That place looks amazing!
is there many rentals on key west?
No. There are no Windsurfing rentals in the Keys. Do you live down here or are you going to be visiting?
We have an facebook group UPPER KEYS WINDSURFERS. Qualified members can sometimes borrow gear if they are visiting the keys, or want to try different boards or sails.
is it rental gear? or your own?
Personal gear, There are no windsurfing rentals in the Keys.
I love this guy singing all along 🫡
I thought my Supercross was old, and then I see a Seatrend ;)
This Seatrend is the last year Randy French designed them in 1998. I have this 260 (85 liter) and the larger 269 (92 liter). They are great boards! Very quick and still fairly loose. I had both back then, and was able to track down these two in the last couple years. Very hard to find. 😊
Waw
Nice session. Thx for sharing.
Good job!😅
Enjoying your videos. I'm really considering getting into this. It's nice to come along for the ride.
Nice! That's what I want to see 😁
