i dont rl see a problem with this video,i mean he even skipped part of the video,played a bit of the game in the middle and argumented back to the video,and to find the original just search SimplyScarc why its time to retire xp i acctualy think that these straight to the point videos are better than acctual reacts

@@Neio-14 I don't think he is milking there. Also SimplySarc's video wasn't really good. Well actually they both miss the main problems with experience which exist for pretty much as long as any of its derivative mechanics.

Well as much as I'm generally against revamps in Minecraft (or for the most part all games actually) I think experience actually need it very bad. I mean yeah, it kiiinda works, it doesn't break the game experience - especially without use of exploits such as for example exp farms (in general I think the aproach "there is problem with X because of this or that farm" is inherently and utterly stupid. No, that's not problem with (any given) X, the farm is the problem). And is overall acceptable and better than lack of any... But it doesn't really work as experience system. I mean it doesn't work as experience system AT ALL. It works like some kind of currency. The very idea of "paying with experience" is nonsensical(not to mention it is the more costly the higher level You are). And completely unfitting thematicly/climaticly. Experience isn't something we lose because of doing some action. For example if we are experience and knowlegeable enough to do something... is making that thing cause us... to not be able to do it any longer? That's absurd, and a very stupid one at that. But this is exactly what we have in minecraft right now. Also loosing all experience after death is also not really making sense. I mean we can't compare it to anything in real life, but considering we just return fully intact there's no reason to consider we forgot everything and lose our skills. And in pretty much all game with respawn mechanic I know there's either no exp penalty for death or very small one, but never decreasing your level. It pretty much should be so in Minecraft. Losing entire (or almost entire if we will collect exp orb after death) experience is way too punishing for no real reason. Generally I have quite developed Idea of how experience (and with that enchanting) system should be revamp... but to put it shortly(I would link to my ideas-presenting docs... but I didn't write down this idea there yet): - Experience is no longer used as currency to pay for some action - On deaths player looses some fixed amount of exp, but not more than 5-10% of current progress to new level - actions that required paying with exp just require to HAVE certain level, beside that they only have their usual material cost (but cost of enchants are reworked, also merging books could be moved to enchanting table and cost lapis) - no previous interaction punishment - no hidden requirments, all depending just on the resulting item/ingredients - advancing to new levels gives player "skill points", which can be used to get some perks (bonus health points, increased attack for specific tool/weapon/set of weapons, increased speed of attack, miningn or movement, increased luck, more resistance to some kinds of damage, loosing oxygen slower, less losed saturation, bonus for reputation in villages, faster animal taming etc.) - avaible perks may of course depending on current level and possibly other factors Also some may cost more skill points etc.; accesible most likely just from inventory gui, or maaaaybe through some utiliy block
