Squash Backhand Swing Analysis for A Junior
Thank you, Jessie, for the great video. Can you please direct me to some good training videos for left-handers?
This is fantastically instructional. Love it
ua-cam.com/users/shortseBWmO-SkmK0?si=Xy2_NkfEDm6Z-Re7 Visualizing failure in stead of succes is most productive.
It's really helpful i can't imagine how it is a free content 😍
Good analysis. I note he’s also very close to the wall, not giving himself nearly as much space as you.
Excellent video. One other thing I noticed around 2:30 is that the students back is leaning towards the back wall as apposed to the front wall as he strikes the ball causing him to move towards the back wall after the ball has been hit. His momentum is now going backwards instead of forwards preventing him from exiting cleanly toward the T.
What is the name of the app, very helpful!
Is shape 1 the same as "presentation"? And is it the same as "racket preparation"? Or is shape 1 just the start of the swing?
Amazing deep dive, thanks! So many tips...need to go to the court right now to try it :-)
Thanks to yourself and Syahmeer for sharing this session. What drills would you recommend for assisting with early preparation and elbow positioning? Many thanks, Laurie
I have to disagree with you on this. His swing is perfect for power. Nice high elbow, and shoulder and underarm nicely rotated inside. Saying that the control is too hard with a big swing is wrong. Look at backhanda. Everyone is kipping with huge swings.
Love your videos Jesse! By far the best on UA-cam. Really enjoy how you break things down technically. Look forward to trying to implement some of these tips into my own game. Cheers Sean
This video is fantastic. So helpful and insightful.
I wish I can reach this swing
Love your analysis videos. They seem to explore areas that are difficult to find on internet. As an ex player but a keen racketball (UK not US) player, I am keen to know if these principals can all apply to the swing in racketball. Is this an area you can answer on?
It's really really helpful to me,thank you Jesse. by the way, what's the video compare software?Could you please tell me the name of it?
Can you add an SSL certificate to the website?
@@omermatin2824 yes, Kartra has this all built in. Everything hosted on Kartra has SSL and even when I use a custom domain Kartra provides the SSL. The membership links are https. But also, there’s no client info kept in your membership area. Can you tell me please the context in which you are asking?
If I close my eyes, it sounds like Jesse is speaking to me. So don't feel bad AT ALL
Great video, is there a backhand one?
Yes. There's one of these for deep backhand, and a two parter for regular backhand
Thank you for this video Jesse. Love it
Thanks a lot coach.. simple and neat
❤thank you, I learned some new points
how do is send a video to you for analysis?
go.sportmind.io/Online-Squash-Coaching
Hi, you are making great videos. I am coaching squash youngsters and I am curious what software do you use for video annotations. I would simplify my explanations when I am sending videos to kids. Of course if it is not too secret :) thanks
And the left arm…
Great video, Jesse
Love this level of detail Jesse - great insights as always! 💪
Just come across your videos Jesse - you coached me as a junior in Woking many years ago. Great to see you still coaching! These videos are really top quality. I've taken your lessons and trying to pass them onto my partner now!
Love love the clear explanation Thnx
You have no idea how much I’m trying to not “brake” the wrist like your student. Do you have any tools to focus/concentrate on the right movements? Like mindfulness orchestra something similar
Sorry for the few typos/T9 mistakes in my text, but in think you got the point. Thanks for this video :)
Amazing content! May I ask what app you are using? My partner is a dancer and is in need of a similar program to analyse some of the moves they perform.
I am conflicted now, completely. Have you now actually become a more brilliant teacher of squash then you ever were a player of squash? I may be learning more from watching your videos about the "how" of teaching than I am about the "how" of squash. Just, wow!
Good analysis.
I think you were the coach for "sivasangari subramaniam" in the "gillen markets london squash classic 2024" right?
Correct. She was incredible the whole week and top top mental strength!
@@JesseEngelbrechtSquash It would be really cool, if you could do a video on that. 🙂
The most detailed explanation I ever watched 👍
Hi Jesse - love your video analysis. What app do you use when commenting on the videos?
Hi Jessie, really love the technical explanation. I am trying hard to avoid the broken wrist, but geez, the muscle memory is so hard to break. By the way, I saw you playing in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2002 or 2003...
I literally love your vids. So so helpful
Thank you Jesse! This was great. Looking forward to another session with you once I work through your tips here.
It's great to hear the commentary of normal people (like me) playing :-) It looks like a lot comes down to making the easy shot by default instead of trying to do too much.
lovely side by side comparison. thanks!
I have had issues in games where I have placed myself on the recommended slightly left of centre T position to hunt the volley etc and my opponent has said they could not potentially hit a shot to the opposite front corner so I should not be standing that far over.
It depends on your opponent's options. If you hit a tight drive, they will have straight and boast options (hence the cheating over won't result in stroke). Hit it too loose and cheat over and it may be a stroke. Watch the pros - they hit tight balls and then cheat over all the time.
What video software is this?
I was looking for it also about 6 months ago and I think I found it only to discover it had been discontinued (so I don't recall its name). There's also an open source app that can do the same called Kinovea, but it doesn't support audio playback (hearing sounds may actually help!). So what I end up doing when analyzing squash recordings is just using VLC player either setting a low speed playback mode or clicking through the video frame-by-frame. Hope that helps!
Regarding the grip of sitting too deep in the palm…I have the same problem…and I think what most of us think is that we loose power and stability in the racquet and the index finger is simply too weak to control the racquet face upon impact….you reviewed me as well. Could you elaborate how to ensure the index finger and the rest of the fingers don’t make the racquet wobble upon impact? Thank you in advance.
Another major difference is how your right leg moves toward your left leg as you swing so you bear down on the ball and sink down into your shot. Your student does not do this as well as you do so he is more upright and cannot transfer as much energy into the racket and ball. This "sliding knee" action is rarely taught but used almost universally by top rated players
This was a fantastic breakdown of the rallies. I really appreciate the commentary on the players positions, techniques and shot selections. please do more of these. Excellent video.
Beautiful and thorough explanation. Thanks for taking the time putting all this information together.
Perfect analysis❤
Great analysis. In view 2 from the side wall, just curious about the difference in left hand positioning. Any significance?
