I respect Axenrott, but Opeth died when Lopez left.. for me. Watershed was an exception but their new direction doesn't do it for me. I'm hopeful it will grow on me, tho..
Look at him, he was making it seems sooo easy
Did he used '12 and '13 toms back then?

super sloppy at the beginning.
Lopez the machine
So fucking good. Axe is awesome, as well - but, Lopez, to me, defines Opeth.
There is no drummer that has the groove and feeling of Lopez
ghost reveries is by far the best album of opeth. lopez's compositional skill in the album has no comparison.
La san puta como suena ese mini china que tiene entre los crash!!!! whaaaaaatssssssss?
My favourite drummer of all time
happy to be like #666
Anybody know what snare that is ?
Best groove ever
Axe is amazing, no doubt there, but the Opeth we had with Martin is just something else!
Dylan Elise the greatest living drummer today no doubt
youtube please save this gems, it's priceless.
Axe can't play this song properly.
I'd say Axe is the better drummer from a technical standpoint, just listen to his time signatures on the song era for example.
never hear a drummer with heroic beats like this anymore.
Mr popcorn :/
Martin you are one of a kind. A Jewel
God is a Martin
Does anybody know what chinas he is using?
zildjian
My drumming hero.
Exceptional technique
Axenrot isn't bad, he plays his part as well as he could, but he will never be Lopez
I agree
Wish he never left...This guy is such a better drummer than Axenrot its painful. Just as fast, but he's on a whole new level when it comes to groove and jazz style drumming. Where is he now?!
He's about to release a second album with Soen. Sick band, sick songs, sick musicians (first album, Cognitive had Steve DiGiorgio on the bass too).
Thanks bro, ill check him out. Very talented guy.
hmm I love the style of lopez especially on this album, but i think when it comes to jazz etc. axenrot is far better, just look at heritage and pale communion
Epic!
Beautiful, such a great drummer, very creative beats, never got to see him play with Opeth unfortunately.
Hey guys! Check out Martin Lopez 'new' band Fifth To Infinity! Pls Share facebook.com/Fifth.to.Infinity?fref=ts
This groove... :Q____ AMAZING!!!!!!! \../
ha usagim haa oy oy eminem
the best!
even though i think martin lopez had some technical flaws and problems with consistency (which might be all due to his illnesses) i think he really had a great groove and rhythmical ideas that improved the band highly
Metals'*
yep. as a drummer i love them both. they are both unequivocally awesome.
THANK YOU. anyone who has given a listen to Bloodbath should be able to vouge for Axe as a drummer
When Akerfedt said that he wanted the last album to be more earthly, he should have asked Lopez to join on drums, cuz Axe is a great drummer but hes more a perfect machine. I really like Lopez cuz he brings emotions out of his drum set, like with the firs Amon Amarth album.
fucking crybaby
i loved heritage and i think lopez's style would fit in heritage a lot better than axe.
I think Martin is better...
Martin > Martin
Martín > Martin
Axe < Lopez AND Axe > Lopez They're both absolutely insane drummers. People need to quit comparing the two.
The time with lopez was definitely opeth's prime. He brought something unique to the band.
I totally agree with you. They are the same technically-wise. It just depends which ones style you prefer.
Heritage was great, I don't see why everyone is bitching about it. I'd rather they not run the same style they were doing into the ground like a lot of bands do. Obviously there are more metal-heads into Opeth then there are Prog-heads.
Soooo tight.
sounds very jazzy
Everything a drummer should be encapsulated. Stunning work.
Ah Martin Lopez... People would have talked shit about pretty much any drummer trying to replace him. He's just so subtle, smooth and nevertheless brutal. Dare I say this is talent.
rofl, trollziest comment ever.
