The Image Armor UA-cam channel is devoted to bringing informative and educational videos about Direct to Garment printing, pretreatment and inks to the general DTG community. White Polyester and Image Armor DTG Pretreatments
Even though Direct To Garment printing has been around for more than 20 years now, it is still amazing that many people do not realize what their DTG printer is capable of achieving. Utilizing the Image Armor pretreatments on white polyester fabrics you can achieve incredibly detailed, vibrant, sharp and soft prints that wash incredibly well. An, unlike Direct To Film, you can still do those awesome fade outs (without halftones) and be much more breathable than having an entire film covering your chest.

I never got that
I'm new to DTG process. Are you saying that the UV discoloration is temporary and will eventually go away once the shirt is washed? Or UV discoloration (although permanent) can be avoided if washed initially prior to sun exposure? Please clarify this. And I can't wait to see when you release the pretreatment that solves this issue. It looks great in the time lapse comparison.
Does this mean I should save my file format to CMYK? I have been struggling to print on all darks. I have image armor ink and PT, with an F2100.
The best files for DTG are 300DPI RGB PNG's. The RIP will do the color conversions for you.
Maybe I missed it... but do you guys have a pre treat solution that works for both white and black shirts?
There is no true universal PT based on the science behind how it cures the ink, with WHITE ink being the main deciding factor. If you are printing white ink, you would use either out ULTRA or PLATINUM. if printing on a white garment with no need for white ink, you would use IA LIGHT.
Do you need to ventilate the area you’re using to pretreat well? We’re using the viper mini to apply the pre-treatment to the garments. We’re in back office of a retail store so we get the air circulation in the room but don’t know if that’s good enough. Another concern is when we heat press the garment after treating it also.
Proper ventilation should be considered, but it's not a major issue if working in a small room long as it's not airtight. The Viper MINI does a great job and keeping the spray are precise.

We are focused in online local selling and have 5 years in the DTG industry. We currently sell Epson parts for dtg industry and want to add your pretreatment due to several of our customers are demanding the product. On the yellow shirt 10:35 you have white in the design why didn’t you use dark PT? I understand that’s most likely because it would cause staining, and I’m also sure that’s why you wrote specifically it’s a white highlight (only the top layer is white and not the base)…. But I’m a bit puzzled as I have the Epson F3070 dtg printer and with this new fast printer It does the white and color in one pass…. Therefore I don’t exactly have the ability to do an only white highlight layer… what would you advise I do? I feel I am missing something? Ps: since the printer is very fast I use the ultra (gels quicker)
At that point in the video for the fluorescent green we did utilize ONLY a white highlight and CMYK print. That was printed on an Epson F2100. Your driver or RIP should allow you that option to NOT print the white underbase but still print the CMYK and highlight white - however I am not familiar with the Epson F3070 interface to tell you how/where. i.e. you are just DROPPING / Not printing the white underbase but still printing the white highlight and CMYK at same time. Hope that helps!
What is meant by cure time?
Cure time typically for pretreatments is how long you need to heat set the pretreatment to fully dry it making it ready to be printed on. Inks still need to be heat cured and that would be a printer manufacturer cure time information that is specified by the printer ink manufacturer.

this is awesome - I just ordered a full replacement set - my biggest question is - do i need to change all the colors at once? or can i have say my Yellow be Brother ink and all the other three be image armor? I just dont want to have to waste expensive ink
Yes. Change all the colors. We do not recommend intermixing the OEM and Image Armor inks. If you are just doing CMYK printing ONLY you might be able to get away with it. Just the OEM white and Image Armor white are totally different vs the respective CMYK inks.
