"Summertime" is a lullaby, meant to be sung to a baby, to help him/her sleep. It begins "Porgy and Bess", Gershwin's opera (!) about black sharecroppers. It is one of the most covered songs in music, with more than 1000 artists have released recordings of it. It is usually played much more slowly. JJ's version is more upbeat than any other one I have heard, more about enjoying a quiet moment in summer, and less about putting a baby to sleep.

No offense to whomever requested this, but I don't think it was the right suggestion for you. Taylor's discography is vast and she usually has something for everyone - you just have to listen to or watch the right things. You might like a few of her live performances a LOT better. I highly recommend watching (from the Reputation Tour) Intro/Ready For It, I Did Something Bad, and Don't Blame Me. I think you need to see how electric she is on stage before doing some of the heavier album version stuff. She's so good live - I've watched haters turn into Swifties so many times after watching those 3. And Swifties are usually pretty good at figuring out how to guide someone down the rabbit hole, you just have to be willing to give her an honest chance.
