Internet Connectivity Issues With a Bryant Evolution Connex Thermostat
Can you actually clean out the internal parts of the secondary heat exchanger on these unit
@@Mattyehdams You can…and easy access to clean. Coupling box comes right off. Don’t strip the screws. But getting the turbulators back in could be an issue.
Thank you
Is there any dip switch settings that need changing going from oem bryant thermostat controller which uses data port to a honeywell wifi that uses the 5 wire setup that connects at the screws (w2/y1/dhum/g*/com 24v*/w*/y*/r*)?
@@scotts4920 No sir. Furnace can run perfectly fine with a “W” call. Now there are air adjustments you will most likely need to address either by dip switches or NFC App depending on the series of the unit. Or staging options if you choose. But to answer your question, the unit will operate just fine with a 24vac thermostat on all commands.
Great tips! Thank you!
So everything going into the unit is 240v, no 120v powered components?
I’m getting 240 at the disconnect but only 120 once it goes through the disconnect switch
Great video,I like it
damn bro i can almost hear you in there
@@hedonistic_ambition9060 LOL Yeah, before we had wireless microphones and was trying to do something live and real on a job we were helping out on. Not our best product.
So if COAF spikes at start up to 1000ppm, or doesn’t come down to a level within spec below 100ppm, or spikes at the end of a cycle? COAF is what we’re concerned with in the flue and not CO?
@@FavoriteSon316 That’s correct. CO in the flue you focus on COAF when it comes to Carbon Monoxide.
Waste of time.
Why does it take so long to connect some times? I have to tap at least 20 times before it connects.
My furnace reads of and I'm trying to turn it back on.. when I put the heart on it continues to blow cool air so I hope this is use error because I cannot afford a bill right now 😢😢
What is the resistance of the spool of copper that’s in line with the rest of the circuit?
@@nelsondog100 I use 100’ of 10ga thin strand. From end to end it’s less than 1 Ohm.
Pure garbage "solution" for a faulty WiFi implementation in the t-stat itself. Bryant should be ashamed they haven't been able to fix this for a decade.
@@NatesRandomVideo Routing information is very different based on what you are transferring. This is not a standard WiFi thermostat with the amount of data monitored or sending. Through North America and Canada, connectivity issues are random depending. The video is a suggestion in homes and areas where connectivity is an issue. Not by any measure is this a major failure or issue. I’m sorry you’ve have had struggles with the product. Thank you.
@@HabeggerHelp What is that false gibberish? There's nothing special about "routing" the information of this (or any other) thermostat. I've been designing and building networks for over 30 years. "Connectivity issues" to a central server is a problem the majority of us who run large international server farms figured out long LONG ago. Bryant has no clue what they're doing. A quick search of forums and such shows a willful misunderstanding of networking standards and failures of their devices to connect to completely normal standards-based WiFi networks for over ten years, and counting. Suggesting a secondary WiFi router is pure silliness and unprofessional.
@@NateDuehr My experience is most connectivity issues are provider related and or internet congestion. An N-band router helps eliminate the issue in these situations. Thus the reasons for the video, nothing more, nothing less…since it is a “help” based page.
Thank you! There was a fried bug stuck in the middle removed it and my AC is running again!
Hardstart kit does not reduce startup peak surge current. It does shorten startup time by increasing motor initial startup torque.. Most clamp on meters read low peak surge current with hardstart cap installed due to shorter startup burst current time. Most clamp on meters need 0.3 to 0.5 seconds of burst time to average the burst current. Hardstart should only be installed if line voltage is low or there is a long wire run to main breaker panel causing too much voltage drop during the initial high startup surge current. This shows up as long startup time 'grunting'. Startup time greater than about 0.8 seconds can result in compressor internal overcurrent Klixon breaker tripping. The compressor internal over current / over temp breaker has a limited number of trips before it is damaged, requiring compressor replacement if compressor internal breaker contacts go bad. It can squeeze a little longer life out of compressor that has copper plating binding up shaft bearings due to improper evacuation of system causing internal walls of copper tubing to be acid etched and deposited on compressor bearing surfaces of compressor. Hardstart kit resulting in very short startup time of less than 0.2 seconds puts potentially damaging excessive startup mechanical torque stress on compressor and compressor motor. 0 to 3500 rpms in 0.1 secs can snap rotor shaft or crack compressor scroll plate. Copeland compressor mobile app specifies their recommended start capacitor maximum mfd. value for given compressor model. Typical good nominal startup time for A/C compressor is about 0.4 to 0.5 secs.
Thank you. Ive watched 20,000 videos on common venting and this is the first one I found that explained this.
I'm teaching my students about the Jade economizer controller and I found your video. I like your set-up, any way you can make more videos using that set-up?

How do you connect it if it says it’s not connected? I’m a homeowner and mine hasn’t worked properly in 5 years. My HVAC installer is NO help. Is there a number I can call to walk me through how to connect MyEvolution to the Bryant server?
@@Ltstevecox108 Most of the time it’s internet congestion. Or provider gateway. Easiest thing is to link the UI to your hot spot on the phone. If it all syncs, it prove’s it’s a router issue. There is a video on this channel explaining routers and congestion. There is a help number in your homeowners guide. In the back. They are helpful. 1-800-Carrier will get you there. Good luck.
This device lasts one year, after that capacitor dries out and it all goes to trash. Ask me how I know
Installing the potential relay with the arrow pointing straight up is essential. If you don’t, the relay armature could possibly not drop out by gravity and burn out the 5-2-1 or damage your compressor. This is the only one I install and recommend. I do not work for 5-2-1 or get paid by them. It is my professional opinion. I haven’t been called back on any of the ones I installed.
after install original 5-2-1 hard start kit, seem the AC lennox 8ys old when turn on sound like it kick in louder harder than before, pls help why
Thank you
Do you mean 1 and 2 , if you have transformer in outside unit ?
The csr comes with a diagram just follow the instructions. On a 1.5 pole i put it on the non shunt side so that it would be similar to a 2 pole commction
Your video helped me in diagnosing a buzzing sound on one of my AC condenser during start up. The intermittent buzzing sound only happens when the fan motor is starting up and then the buzz would stop after about 5-6 seconds. After watching your video, I went out to take a look at the contactor. The reset button was stuck "in" an in position. I touched it with an insulated screw driveer and it was vibrating, even with the power disconnected. I assume that the capacitors were causing this vibrating. I moved the reset button a few times back and forth to make sure it moved freely. I have since ordered a new contactor. This contactor had a lot of dust on it from the dry AZ heat and if looked a bit worn, with some rust on the spring. I checked all 3 of my AC condenser units for this. I learned a lot from your video. Thanks...
How does the impact of o2 levels in closed system hydronic boiler combustion? Thanks
Do you check with power to the unit? Or no power?
In the video, for a trained technician the power would be on. I would not advise without proper training. Although with all power off, indoor and outdoor unit…you could Ohm across the contactors points.
And thank you for the information too
Our service man said that we don’t have function hand remote, which I looked it up and we do of course, and he said it only holds the history. I guess he meant of the air conditioner and what went wrong is true.
Meaning the remote now has multiple functions that covers unit operation and advance service settings all in one hand held remote.
What does functionality mean in the handheld?
I can't upload a photo using a micro sd. It a new micro sd. Formatted correctly. Jpeg photo.
Thanks for the video. It helped me fix a problem with ants getting into my contactor.
Hi thank you for you explanation. Has the piston a especific direction into the holder?
It is directional so it can seat one way, by-pass the other. It can go in either way, but the adapter won’t screw on unless you are in the correct position. The piston needs to seat into the piston body for the adapter to screw on. Thank you.
Very helpful, thank you! I'll check the rod to end of spool first to make sure I'm well below 25 Ohms before moving on in case I mess up the spool or connectors somehow.
Thanks for the video. My six years old Bryant high efficiency furnace has been working fine, but I checked/cleaned the secondary heat exchanger per your video. It needed to be cleaned since it had caked on dirt on about a third of the surface finned area. I had to disconnect the condensate pump, the humidifier, and the thermostat in order to get the air handler out, then forgot where all the wires went -- but I took a picture of the connections at the motherboard before hand, so all went well.
You serious?
Yes. Especially on inverter/communicating systems. Bad ground reference points can create a lot of havoc. Usually not as easy as the video as this was a new home. But I always carry that spool of wire to checking grounding. Good luck.
This video does not tell you how to check your pressure switches. It tells you how to check your inducer motor. And is that going to be at full capacity for second stage or is that going to be at first stage capacity? Every furnace is a little bit different.
Some are shortened on other videos, but how much I don’t know.
Hello, thank you for the video, do you know how to change the cells of the Testo 310. Disassembly is probably done by removing the large rubber casing which surrounds the device. Do you have your own process?
