As one drove up West past the Gateway Kindergarten, there was a Y split in the road. Going left one headed over a railway bridge on the Chequers road. Shortly thereafter on the right hand side was a small service station.. This was Dahl's garage, He relocated the vicarage to the Gateway School and had the pheasants flying out towards the real vicarage location. Chequers was where the owner of the pheasants lived. Dahl went to ST P and StP like us. I lived for 21 years in Hill House sometimes visible on hill top looking up Church Street. You probably photographed my mother's grave. Since 1968 the shops have completely changed. Those Shell pumps I do not recognise. My eldest brother used to drink at the George and was friends with Miles. I remember parking anywhere on the High Street. The cream coloured house at the top of Station Hill could be Clement Atlee's home. The Post Office was where Oliver James is located. I had heard that there were at least 12 pubs in the early fifties. The houses at the Church end of Church Street were occupied by very poor people some of whom worked for my family. At the bottom of the lane leading up to the church was a village water pump still in use when I was a boy. Turning left there was the village school. I was born in 1947. There were other churches: A Baptist in the middle of town and a Catholic at the base of the railway hill. I remember the huge coal yard at the station.

This is a nice video of Eardisley. I've photographed the church grounds here but never really had a walk around the village although I have driven through lots of times. I always get Eardisley confused with Eardisland, which is probably a little more picturesque than Eardisley. Eardisland is on my bucket list of places to visit.

It's been a few years since I have been to Kington and, sadly, I don't think there is much here to see or do. You could use a stay here to visit the Small breeds farm and owl park which is a couple of miles in the Hereford direction or you could go in to Wales to see the Rhayader dams in the Elan valley. Both of those would be a nice day out for anyone interested.

Great vid, i havent been there for several years now as i live in France, but i spent a lot of my childhood in Pembridge, 3 generations of my family are at rest in St Marys , my father, grandparents and great grandparents and yes your right the black and whites of north Hereford are stunning to visit
