I'm Jason Glenn, originally from Tennessee but spent 20 years in USAF and the last 14 years living/working in the DC area. Recently, our family has set our roots in South West Florida--loving the beach, fishing for big bass, and experimenting with inshore/saltwater fishing (Snook, Redfish, Tarpon and more). I've fished and hunted my entire life but recently bought an Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 kayak which has expanded and elevated my enjoyment of fishing ten-fold. Check out my videos and we'll explore new baits, tips and tricks to catching bigger fish and experimenting/learning to catch and cook saltwater fish.

Abu Garcia Revo SX Spinning Reel Paired with Cadence Primo Rod - Kayak Bass Fishing
Just bought a new Abu Garcia Revo SX (30) Spinning Reel and paired it with a Cadence Primo 6' 8" rod. Great combo that I plan to fish for many years to come. On this day, I had high hopes to catch a big Snook in my home lakes--but things don't always go as planned. Enjoy the kayak trip where my Snook target once again turned in to a bass trip.

What a wonderful experience this was for our Florida Burn 12U family. We may not have had the overall success we hoped for but we had the experience of our life. So proud of these boys, all the families and especially our coaches. We're all so truly blessed to be a part of this amazing team/family. #cooperstown #dreamspark @DreamsParkBaseball

Never had issues with gators while fishing until today. I'm not afraid of these alligators but have a deep respect for the power of these animals. On this day, a group of gators diverted me from my fishing plan. #fishing #bassfishing #gators

Bass Fishing the morning of, 5 March 2023, 7AM. Started slow but perked up after I changed from the Fluke to Senko (Green Pumpkin Black Flake). Caught a few on topwater Super Spook Jr. but as always the Gary Yamamoto Senko was on fire. Early March is beginning to turn on. #fishing #bassfishing #softplastics

First video in quite some time. I'm not so "Retired2Fish" anymore working full time again and trying to coach my son and daughters, baseball and softball teams. Plan to post at least one video every two weeks moving forward. In this video, we're working early pre-spawn bass that are firing up for a good early spring season. #fishing #bassfishing #prespawn
BASS TURNING ON After Hurricane IAN; Southwest Florida

The water is slowly receding and the water temps are climbing back up some. On this day, I think I hit them at a good time. The bite was on early and it turned out to be a great day. I was throwing soft plastics and tried topwater for a little while. #kayakfishing #bassfishing #fishing

where did he catch it?
WOW! This brings back memories. My youngest son Nicholas and I went with his team "The Sterling Squid" in 2001. He was 12 years old. Great memories for him and me.
They’re thriving for sure.
Been a real long time since I’ve fished there, since I don’t live there anymore people call the police on me if I try to fish. How’s the clown knife population these days.
I just moved into the Treviso Grand apartments, but found out those ponds are all in a gated community and can't fish it. Do you know any other public freshwater fishing spots?
Yes our ponds are private. However, there’s a big lake behind our community at the concrete plant that welcomes public fishermen. There’s a place you can park and put a kayak in. Guess you could fish from bank too.
@@Retire2Fish Appreciate the help and yeah don't have a Kayak yet. Enjoying your videos, didn't know if you were going to start making some more or not.
@@Retire2Fish Is this the Kayak Launch? 27.15987194018493, -82.38588621794273 Also, did you go in the office and ask or where is the best place to park?
@@supermicroracer2 no, I didn’t go to office but was told by others that FWC supports fishing the lake and while I was there-others were fishing by boat/kayak. I’ll look at coordinates later.
@@Retire2Fish Interesting, I will check it out. I guess it's not owned by the Concrete company.
Thanks for sharing.
This is the one I want….been doing my research. Thank you for the vid. I just subscribed.
Love it! You’re living my dream.
Your friend who flipped the kayak. Does he have old town sportsman 120 or different?
Lake Ida?
I'm also retired and kayak fishing the same area, actually live in Osprey, those channel cats are good eating.
The only thing I say in a moment like this is “please stay on, please stay on, please stay on!”
I soûl put it on a cart to get it off the ground
It is a marvellous review. I am in the intracoastal water in Englewood lemon bay . Tons of fish and things to see .stelf is so important. I use a wildness cart. Redfish, Sea trout, Spanish Macro Bluefish. Have a Newport 46 lbs thrust trolling motor at the bow . Garmin echo map plus chirp. I just love this kayak
Like your videos. Don’t stop broadcasting! 👍🏻🐠🎣
I have the same Sportsman kayak but in Ember, absolutely love my PDL 120 I purchased in 2020. I live and fish the coast here in Maine. I have a back issue and my seat is not a problem, very comfortable. I have been out on 208 outings with this kayak since 2020, also retired and have time to log all my trips. No issues with my kayak whatsoever. Do have a question for you, do you start your GoPro's with a remote when you catch a fish or do you let them run wild and film everything? Even starting mine remotely, my battery only lasts about 3 hours. And just subscribed to your channel :)
I let the cameras run. Found that it eats through batteries either way--especially in hot weather.
Any issues with the rudder system so far? I’ve heard some videos complaining about the tension knob and having the rudder not staying in the direction you put it.
I've never had this issue. Still going strong with no problems.
@@Retire2Fish thank you. Just purchased a 120 pdl and love it
Great video! What’s running good in these temps? Looking to bringing my son down for a quick weekend to fish the inlet I have family there and have been a few times love the area.
What a good video man. I am sorry to hear that you was sick on a good day of fishing on the water man. But thanks you for going out there while you was sick. You was catching some nice fish out there man. It was awesome seeing you kayaking barefooted 👣 because I have to kayak barefooted 👣 too because of me having very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 just like it's awesome to see you going fishing when I love to go fishing too. It's just a little bit harder for me to go fishing because I am a long distance Truck 🚛 driver & I own my own truck 🚛 so i have to be on that interstates to make that Truck 🚛 payment. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing it & making it while you was sick.
Hey Jason, Fyi the 6” Gambler Fat Ace was the stick bait used by Brandon Lester to win the ‘22 St Croix on Kissimmee. It’s loaded with salt, so it supposedly has a slower fall rate than Senko. Warren. ❤
I’m first 🤪🤪🤪
Don’t talk shit about Fish Tales.
You complain about catching catfish and not other s....what's the difference if you throw them all back anyway?...Just curious cause I think catching catfish, if all you are doing is catching fish, put up a good fight and are fun to catch....
I like catching freshwater catfish but not saltwater. When targeting a specific fish and using life bait--I'd just rather not have the catfish. Preference I guess--but thanks for commenting. :)
@@Retire2Fish I get it… and ya gotta watch out for that big spike on the back👍
Great explanation backed up by literally showing the catch with in minutes. Got my list, Thank you. As a beginner this is priceless. Saved me soooo much time. Thank you.
Exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.
As of this writing, June 28, 2023 at crows nest marina, we pretty much always have pin fish and live shrimp, blue crabs for tarpon also. We get shrimp every day except Tuesday. Just an FYI, stop by and say hello when you’re in the neighborhood. Tight lines!
Thank you
Is this in Buckeye, AZ? If so, do you need a reservation for this, or can you just go out on your kayak?
New subscriber.. It’s hard to find anything for kayak fishing this area. I’ll be there again next week, 10-17th. Last year I got skunked at turtle beach areas. I’m really hoping to do better this year. Any tips will help and I would love to fish with someone local.
I’m working again and haven’t been fishing much lately. Have fun-and good luck.
Great video. I’ll be in Siesta Key next week & looking for a good place to kayak fish. Hoping to catch anything, but snook is on top of my list
I work at the crows nest marina, cool video.
Sorry for slow response but I’ve been working a lot lately…. Thanks for watching-and thanks for the comment.
How would that kayak do on the buffalo river or spring river? Lots of rapids and fast water in areas.
It’s according to who’s piloting it.
Just wondered about the PDL if it flips
Fast water wouldn’t be the problem. Shallow would be the problem. Drive and rudder can be stowed up-but paddling the PDL isn’t great. Heavy and doesn’t steer like a lighter kayak.
@@hoggcountry7483 I’ve never flipped it-or came close. Very stable.
Can you lift that thing up onto the roof top of a jeep?
I can-you, probably not.
We will see next time you visit!! Lol
My advice...stay away from Hobie...buy Old Town❤. I believe the Hobie Kayaks are cheaply made. Do you want a disposable drive? I do not. Hobie, you’re losing business with your inexpensively manufactured products. Wake up or soon you will be gone....These Kayaks are outdoor recreational sportsman gear. Build them to be virtually indestructible. Hobie, you will see your customers will appreciate the quality if you would only improve it!
Would do anything for your conditions right now, I’m stuck in the Iceland of central Massachusetts
Weather is getting ideal for sure. It's my happy place.
Tried to do a little clown knife fishing in the neighborhood recently and somebody called the police on me.
I hate that but it's private and some folks don't like people parking cars in certain areas/etc... Also, some leave their trash and aren't respectful of the lakes/homes. If there's a day I plan to fish behind my house from the bank for Clowns, I'll reach back out to you.
@@Retire2Fish yeah I get it, it just stinks I’ve been fishing there for years and never had a problem. But thanks man, I’d really appreciate that!
How do you know where kayak fishing is permitted? Are you on ponds?
I'm on small lakes where I live. Other than that--there's few ponds/lakes I go to because they're private. I also fish inshore which is a nice change (saltwater).
I’m tired of watching this guy hurt and mangle fish...geeze..learn how to gently dehook or stop using those treble hooks.
Nice I left an identical 67 GT in St Petersburg when I bought a new 69 Mach 1 there. Really cherry restoration.
Are you trolling a senko lol?
Absolutely-do it a lot. Catches a few extra fish.
@@Retire2Fish That's sick. Any special strategy to it? Drag bottom or what?
@@saleen12 no strategy…. Just Texas rig to keep it seedless. No weight. If kayaking, just keep up with your line, especially on windy days. You’ll get lime caught in prop if not careful.
Is that a 5.5 foot bed? Do you need an extender or no?
No extender needed. It’s secure with only one strap-but on long trips I use a second strap at the front of kayak.
Tits n grit
What kind of shoes do you have on? Those look really cool.
I got them off Amazon. They’re cheap water shoes but I really like them. I can send the link if you want?
Do you get any water coming in at the motor connection on the floor? Thanks.
No, I never have. Everything in the bottom of the kayak--to include my feet, stay dry.
@@Retire2Fish Thanks
Nice review. Researching now. Subscribed. Thanks
Good to see someone who does inshore in the Sportman 120 PDL.
How is the fishing now is the red tide still there is the fishing bad I'll be there in 1 week
Yes, Red Tide is going right now so I haven't really been to the beach nor the Jetty to fish or swim. Hope it clears soon.
I am building a model of this 67 GT Mustang. Same colours also. When done I will text you pictures of my build. 👍🇨🇦👍.
Sorry I haven't responded. Actually going back to work and have neglected my channel. I'd love to see the finished product for sure.
Brings new meaning to a crappy day on the water lol
So true...
Really enjoyed your video! I’m getting ready to buy a fishing kayak and this one looks like a winner! I’m wondering if I would need a trailer for this kayak ? I don’t have a truck to transport the kayak but I have a small SUV. Is it difficult to put on top of a SUV by yourself or would I need help?
It really depends on your capability. I have a friend that’s a stronger than average male that does it by himself all the time. However, he has learned best techniques for his midsize SUV. If you are able to get a trailer, it becomes very easy. I have a full size truck and it’s a very easy process for me. Sorry if this isn’t helpful but I’d hate to say you could do it without knowing you.
