This solution looks awesome and I'm very interested. A couple of thoughts ran through my mind watching the video though: 1) for the plate that attaches to the tent extrusion, would it be possible to stack multiple plates/have different thicknesses for situations where a bit of additional height is needed? In my case, I need a bit of space so that my tent latches can open without hitting the rack. 2) it may be redundant, but would having holes for a cotter pin/some sort of backup way to make sure the handle side stays closed be possible? Seems like you are doing some thorough testing but given that the body/rack can twist a fair bit offroad the peace of mind that they won't work loose would be nice. Glad to see that you're looking forward to make things better!
Hi there, thanks for your insightful feedback! 1) Yes, the tent attachment is configurable so you can stack additional spacers to accommodate the extra height needed for the latches 2) Yes, we are working on a secondary locking mechanism that retains the handle in the latched position. It uses a plunger lock to keeps the handle in place. Stay tuned for the video 😊

Roof Top Tents are so out of style, Millennials won't buy them anymore!
😆
Will these be lockable? I have a vanultra lock for my tent on my Subaru Outback because I know someone who has had their tent stolen. However the clearance is extremely tight so I always have a hard time trying to bolt everything down so these look extremely appealing.
We are pleased to hear that you own a locking mount for your Subaru -very cool. Yes, we are planning to release a lockable version of this mount in the next couple months.
Do one or both work with the Sherpa crestone and supplied crossbars ?
Hi Kevin, Yes, this system is designed for the Sherpa 4Runner Crestone roof rack. It will mount to the included 2” wide by 1” thick load bars.
Hi mate! Here is my 2 cents. Cut the bolt in half like ikamper brackets 3.0. This will make int shipping easier
We appreciate your feedback, thanks for sharing. We agree shipping a 6 foot box is a challenge. We are working on addressing this issue.
These will work on an 80 series LC as well right?
Yes, these mounts will work on an 80 series if you have an aftermarket roof rack with 2” wide by 1” tall cross bars. Check out episode 3 for an install on a 60 series Land Cruiser
Make video for ARB Base rack please
Thanks for the feedback, we will add it to our list
I have a 4th Gen 4runner with Sherpa roof rack with the FSR Aspen lite XL. The tent extends out about 5” on each side. Any mounts to be able to mount an awning or a Yakima road shower under the extended side of the tent to utilize that space?
Thanks for sharing about your set up, we do not offer awning mounts at this time. We know that most tent and awning companies offer extended awning mounts, but they might not have a long enough reach to get past your FSR tent. Additionally, we have seen others fabricate their own heavy duty mounts specific for their rack and accessories.
I have a very lowpro setup with my OVS tent and my UpTop rack on my Telluride. This might be the option i go with. Thank you
These mounts are designed for SUVs like your Telluride. Please give them a try!
@vanultra_llc thank you! Looking forward to using your mounts!
The canvas bottom is what makes this a hard pass. I can imagine over time feeling the support bars on the bottom.
Was this comment supposed to be posted on a camping cot video? We are not sure which canvas you are referring to.
How is the noise from the rtt bars touching the rack bars in between the clamped rails, some people use tent risers to prevent contact with the bars in between, does this mount fix those issues especially if going over big bumps, do those bars clash and chatter?
Great question Dave, our current design integrates a 1” tent riser into the geometry of the mount. This 1” rise solves the terrible rattle sound caused by the unclamped middle cross bars. With over 2,000 testing miles we can confirm that the tent is quite with no chatter on or off road.
@@vanultra_llc I appreciate your response, I did notice the 1” rise after watching the videos a couple of times, I have a 2021 Ford Bronco with a Trailrax roof rack and an Inspired overland lightweight standard tent. The side brackets of the Trailrax makes it difficult to attach the rtt directly to the rack and the lip doesn’t allow me to pre attach 2 perpendicular rails onto the tent before dropping it directly on top of the rack so this might be a great solution to the problem I’ve been having to keep the profile low and not add too much height.
@@daveyman We understand your set up, thanks for sharing. You are correct the 90 degree lip on the TrailRax prevents the cross bars from being removed. We have test fitted and confirmed that are mounts do not inhibit the Bronco T tops from being removed. The hooks only hang 1” below the cross bar. These mounts are perfect for Bronco owners with TrailRax or similar roof racks 🤙
@@vanultra_llc awesome that was my next question but I went ahead and placed my order as I would have sacrificed the t-top removal for easy mounting of the rtt but even better that I can still remove the top. Can’t wait to set up the mounts!
@@daveyman thank you for supporting our small business with your order. Please share your feedback after you have installed the mounts and tested them off-road.
Cool product. Website mia
Glad that you like it
Looking forward to this series. I have a Sherpa Crestone on my 4runner and looking at a FSR tent currently.
Wow that’s exactly the combination we are using with Sherpa’s 4Runner. We have more content releasing this week
@@vanultra_llc Looking forward to it.
Received mine and have attempted to install. You need a lot of room below the tent to use the deep socket required. So far that’s a no go with a tent on a truck canopy instead of having unlimited room below like this video :(
We are sorry to hear that there wasn’t enough clearance to install your locking mount. We offer a 30 day return policy. More details are on our website
Has your RTT hoist gone into production yet?
No it has not, we are looking into creating a kit without the large frame. We have found the large metal frame to be very expensive both in raw material and freight. We have created an email sign up list on our website if you want to subscribe to the project.
Need to detox after that show...
