Lazy Sunday Vibes with Eric Johnson Stratocaster
Переглядів 182 місяці тому
Join me on a personal journey of tranquility and inspiration as I share the soothing guitar melodies I composed at sunrise, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Using my Eric Johnson Fender Stratocaster and the Marshall Plexi Kemper profile with Univibe effect, I've done a quick take inspired on the dawn chorus of birds. Hopefully this provides some serenity while listening. #relaxing #reverb #m...

I womder if this factory built singlecuts for PRS. Literally glue in a diff neck and headstock profile.
Very nice
Sounds really good, what profile are you using?
The Dumble CLN JM profile from the D Pack of Michael Britt. The only thing I changed was remove the delay and added more reverb from that rig.
Hey, don't mean to state the obvious here. But if you wind your E and A string in the opposite direction you have them now, tuning stability will be far better... but anyways, excellent review thx!
Blijft leuk !
link doesn't work anymore?
tune this shit
Hoi Roger, je hebt op muzikantenbank gereageerd maar als ik reply dan krijg ik een postmaster-bericht. Kan je me misschien nogmaals mailen met een ander e-mail adres? groet, wander
strange, this sound...
Just tune it. Cannot listen to that.
You're Right!!!
ok now play it again but make the guitar on tune pleeeeseee!!
nice playing but you have to put your guitar on tune!! it's all flat!
The instructions come with the pick ups. They are pretty clear and easy to follow. There is a normal P-rail for bridge and a "hot" p rail for bridge. You can use a set of push pulI pots, a pair of mini toggles or a three way toggle and give up one of the 4 modes. On a rear routed guitar you can use the seymour mounting rings with the lil mini switches built into them, they work great. and make the install easy as pie. I used a set of the normal p rails in a semi hollow strat and i love them.
.|.
@MrDrewseph nope...I ended up giving a pair of GFS pickups a second chance ( Dream 180 in neck and Liverpool Retrotron in bridge) and they seem to be the combo my ears craved!
Fucking FANTASTIC
awesome dude
I have a Peavey Tracer Custom that i wanted to put these in, but i decided not to because it only has one humbucker and i need something for shred :/ so i go evo2...
hey what type of potentiometer are u using to switch between the p rails modes? i cant drill a tiny hole in my guitar for a dpdt flip switch so i was wondering how you wired yours, switching modes by turning that knob
cool : )
@gunitsin2008 No unfortunately I don not have those. It was only a quick improvisation at the time.
not too bad, work on getting your vibrato a bit more controlled, wavy and and powerful, rather than just a quick shake of the string
great playing ! notes just seem to keep coming :-) :-) And cool guitar modification. (thats how i found the vid) ;-) thinking of gettting those prails for my neck position aswell. i am missing the more singlecoilish tone option, and it sounds, as if these pickups can rip this tone out of a guitar. Greetz, Tomix
very clearifying demo mate! I got those on my Framus Tennessee pro wich now sounds great with this huge variaty of tones but I have to confes that I still feel like I need my stratocaster to get that classic dire straits sound.

How well do the P-rails do the PAF tone?
Way better demo than Seymour Duncan's, I'm really considering getting those for my PRS SE Custom...how "hummy" are the rail and P90 positions? Oh, and what were your amp settings, that's one sweet tone!
What pots did you use that allowed 3-way switching for each pickup? I'd love to add some P-Rails to one of my Les Pauls, but I don't want to add two 3-position switches just so I can use all 3 configurations for each pickup. I'd like to keep the appearance close to stock, as you seem to have done here.
great n nice playing
Nice one Roger, like the tapping. Check up mine as well, thumbs up mate ;)
Nice job nice tapping, hug!
doctor funk! ;)
found the perfect pickups finally :) thanks for demoing this my pickups are probably the worst ever :s but these are dead on the sound that am looking for :D too bad dawsons dnt sell them
@Anitrop Woods can of course make a major difference in tone, but I can't really comment on how the tone would change in your setup compared to mine tbh.
@zainsdad - yeah of course seymour describes em that way, cuz he wants to sell them. I just dont like false marketing bull by companies trying to sell stuff to those not in the know. Ask other guys who have played real PAF's and top boutique PAF clones if Prails in para mode could have anything to do with PAF tone. it's impossible from an electrical standpoint, and from the resulting sound itself. it's just marketing bull, I have no other idea why seym would say that...very irresponsible of him.
@conkerjb09 - yes i know how these p rails are built. Still, a p90 and a singlecoil wired in parallel do not and cannot sound anything like a PAF at all, both theoretically and in real life, as I have tried this already with a real gibson p90 and a strat pu in one guitar mounted real close. series will always be louder and fuller than parallel with either these or regular humbuckers.
@progjazzfusion That point may be valid if the Prails were like every other duncan and dimarizio. In those pickups you have both coils in parallel, which gives you a weaker tone. The Prail is not a two coil humbucker with one mag....it is two ACTUAL pickups wired in series as a humbucker. So when you have them wired in parallel, you have two real pickups feeding your amp, not just two split coils.
@VelvetRoger hmm, ok if you say so, but that seems to be stretching it to say that a p90 and a single coil in parallel can sound anything remotely like a PAF. probably just duncan marketing b.s. to make the para mode seem more desireable. ie suggestable people may believe that. i've tried para wiring of nearly every duncan+dimarizio and it always sounds generic to me.
@progjazzfusion They sound like PAFs, never said that the wiring is the same. SD also approached it the same way in explaining the sounds from the pickups.
why do you call parallel mode PAF like? PAFs are series wired humbuckers, not parallel wired, so it doesnt make sense to say parallel wiring sounds like a PAF.
Great job man , nice playing !
Cheers!
I've just got my guitar back getting it 100% properly set-up (by one of the best techs in the country), and I can surely say that they can now scream if I want them too, much more than before :-)
thanks for the advice man. i think ill give it a go on my guitar. by the way i have a squier telecaster custom and the stock pups are so noisy and they squeal a lot. does this one have a low feedback property? does it squeal when you put heavy distortion?thanks again
It's fairly straight forward. The diagrams you get with the pickups are very clear, and replacing the knobs is easy as well (as long as you can handle a soldering iron :-)).
how did you replace all the knobs? did you buy those knobs for it to be modified when you bought the p rails? is it easy to install?
The modifications for my guitar where only two push-pull volume / tone pots. The 3 way selector is just to select either one of the pickups (neck or bridge) or both together. With the two push-pull pots in total 4 different settings per pickup can be chosen (p90, rail, parallel or series), which gives a total of 12 different tones from the guitar together with the 3 way selector.
okay, i know what ill do :) thanks for the help! and nice demo
