    Hands down no brainer this is !!. The GWM is 100% better than any Jeep…..read the reviews and forums. But…If I wanted a 4WD to do a constant heavy duty job I wouldn’t be buying either of these, the GWM because they probably don’t have the infrastructure in place to service and acquire parts in the outback as yet (but the day will come) and certainly not a Jeep because they are unreliable and expensive to work on….once again…read the reviews.

    • @operation4wheelz
      @operation4wheelz 3 місяці тому

      Hi mate. Yes I am aware of Ronny’s video. But I can’t find any original source information that indicates that’s correct. I know Ronny. And I’ve even done videos with him in the past. But The only original source information is the handbook that states that the “cargo load” for the OEM rails is 80kgs. But this system doesn’t use those rails so that’s null and void. Yep. This rack is a purpose designed off-road rack, and is rated higher and is much stronger over all. I’ve had rhino before, base rack is a far more hardy product. The rack can be heard over 120kms but otherwise not much at all. It’s also significantly cheaper.

    Good video. Looks like mine are on their way out again, even though I replaced both batteries 3 years ago with a Century 65AH and a Katana 12AH from SupercheapAuto. The service ETC and service S/S messages have recently come on. I’d charge the batteries and the messages would go away for a few days, but S/S pretty much stops working in a day because the aux doesn’t seem to be holding charge and the messages come back. Also takes an extra second or 2 to crank. Still getting it checked under the 5-year warranty (which runs out in a few weeks) but I’m disabling the aux battery for sure…what an unnecessarily silly system.

    • @operation4wheelz
      @operation4wheelz 3 місяці тому

      Hi mate. I’ve found that the system in general is very sensitive to low voltage. Those supercheap century’s are fine, but they need to be in perfect condition or the system will notice and youll have the symptoms you describe. Supercheaps battery test will register a “pass”. But in actual fact, it’s not sufficient for the wrangler. Jeeps testing gear will state “fail”. Isolate the aux batt as I have in the video and keep the main battery as healthy as you can. Put it on a trickle charge if you’re not driving it for a few days. If the century battery really starts to have drams starting etc, you should be able to get it replaced under warranty when it finally registers a “fail” at supercheap. Also l, check out my video on smart alternators. You’ll find it interesting. Hope that helps.

    • @vickey59
      @vickey59 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the advice, mate. I have the batteries on a trickle charger now and will isolate them tomorrow. I don’t know why the batteries don’t seem to last in the JL and buying a new pair every 2 to 3 years gets old and expensive very quickly. Love your channel, keep up the good work!

    • @operation4wheelz
      @operation4wheelz 3 місяці тому

      @vickey59 I think it’s for 2 reasons. Not sure about yours but my alternator pumps in up to 240amps with the HD alternator option. And… the JL like most modern cars drains quite hard on the crank battery in general. Plus whatever accessories are running, winches, spotties etc. I had this discussion with some of the other boys the other day, and all our newer cars seem to be killing the batteries within the warranty period. We just keep getting them replaced for free.

    • @vickey59
      @vickey59 3 місяці тому

      @@operation4wheelzjust an update, I pulled both batteries out and they were both in poor health, at less than 50% of their rated CCA. Took the main one back to SuperCheap, and the Century rep today confirmed it was sulphated and will be replaced under warranty (luckily I have 3 months before the 36 month term expires). I reckon most likely the aux battery died first and drained the main battery overtime until it was sulphated. I will definitely isolate the aux when I get the new batteries installed! Cheers again for your information.

    Greetings from Thailand. 2O Years before I got TJ and YJ in Germany and I love them. Now in Thailand the new Jeep Rubicon costs me 115,000 $ and GWM is selling the new Tank 300 2024 ULTRA Hybrid for 48,000 $ with 5 years warranty on the full car and free services and 8 years on the battery. Car comes with front and rear div looks and does a pretty good job online on the island Phuket and Kho Phangan. Last but not least the service treats you like a royal customer compared to Honda or Toyota and the new Tank shows several improvement like skid plates and better brakes per example…

    Sorry to rain on your parade but, having been a jeep owner in the past I was awake to the plethora of potential mechanical issues that can destroy the new car ownership bliss. That is why I did a whole lot of research before buying my Tank 300. The owners forums speak of very few issues and so far it's the best car I've ever owned. With a seven year, unlimited K warantee I'm feeling fairly confident. By the way, differential size is due to the reduction ratio. It has no relationship to strength. I know you love your Jeep and I did too when I had mine but unfortunately when the gearbox blew up, and it was loosing coolant from somewhere... and the windows didn't work, and the oil pressure warning was going off for no reason, and the front axle seals were gone, and the air con wasn't working for the third time I was forced to give ith to a wrecker.

    Some fair comments ; looked at and test drove the 300 Hybrid recently; looked underneath and yes - it looks a bit cheap with finish / actual quality sure dosnt match a jeep as he points out Same goes for inside - materials generally look somewhat budget But , the drive experience, in terms of ride and handling dynamics on both sealed to moderately rough dirt roads - pretty damn good Quick nimble steering with decent feel , quality ride comfort on shitty serfaces stood out for me ; the vehicle simply does not feel like 2.2 ton for the hybrid !!! The tech that everyone raves about - well its ok but got some rough edges ( dosnt work at all i.e lane keep assist etc) Driven 4 or 5 Jeeps post 2020 models - agree that inside & out - quality of finish / paint & materials look substantially better - i love the Gladiator especially.... But in all honesty , driving dynamics and ride of the tank - compared to a wrangler especially, is better on road & and perhaps closer off it than we cud say .... And , the 80 k plus for one - vs low 5o s for the hybrid tank - i can see the appeal ....its a tough call In all honesty , if the price diff was 15 to 20 k only - id go the jeep every time , but - 30 to 40 k - whew......tough

    The plastic taste isn't isolated to Drifta. I bought a similar bladder from an established Oz mob who specialise in bladders and had the same problem. Never had a chance to test out all the solutions which I read about because I blew a seam in the bladder by over pressurising it during a refill. At that point it was a sign to never use a flexible water bladder again. I believe the rigid poly bladders are not affected the same way. In any case I've been using water jerry cans since (from Bunnings). Thanks for sharing. Cheers

      Yeah I persisted with it for grey water, but after a couple of years of use, it finally seems to have lost the plastic taste. Now it functions as intended and it’s working well for me now. Certainly wouldn’t recommend the product tho.

      @@operation4wheelz Yep...I would only use flexi bladders for fresh grey water.

      The other options are more expensive and I don't think will have removed the plastic taste problem. If you only use it for extra washing and shower water then it's fine.
