Introducing the Flatter

www.guitarflatter.com The fretless electric guitar has been used extensively by Middle-Eastern guitarists that require 1/4 tones, or playing “between the frets.” In the pop and rock world however, fretless guitars represent unexplored territory, and have tremendous unleashed potential to expand your palette of sounds and forge your own unique sound. Flatter opens up the world of vibrato, slides...
Installing the Flatter

How to install the Flatter on your guitar or bass. Loosen the strings enough so that they lose all their tension and pull them aside. (when installing the Flatter for the first time, you may want to detach the strings from the tuners entirely) Place the edge of the Flatter on the side of the guitar or bass neck. Align the groove under the built in nut of the flatter above the nut of the guitar,...

When will this be available again?
Now I can get that Jaco Pastsorius vibe
... like way cheaper than the oud I bought to try play cool scales
Disappointed it doesn’t cover the entire neck
😢هاي تفيدك بعزف المقامات الشرقية وبدها شخص عندو احساس وفنان مو شخص فييت بلخائط 😢
I play fretless fuitar for 30 years and I have to say that the sustain in the upper range depends on the technique and strings, provided the guitar is good. So, you really could extend the Flatter to cover all neck. I was planing to buy at least one, to be able to play also my nonfretless guitars as fretless, but I will wait until you come to your senses and make a proper lenght. I NEED whole fretboard. Really !! This said, I find your Flatter a stroke of genius. PLEASE make a full-lenght model.
Good morning, Is it available for left-handed people? THANKS
Awesome!!! Send one to Adrian Belew!
This is brilliant!
Do you need to raise the bridge?
Samurai guitarist did a review of this and said the same thing most who have reviewed it have said; it needs to go beyond the 12th fret. This would be awesome if it went to the 22nd fret, but it ending at 12 makes it significantly less desirable. Half-fretless guitars have become quite popular, they're fretted up to the 12th fret, and then fretless from the 12th to the 22nd/24th fret (or however many their guitars have)
Nice song and nice guitar play!
Is there any option for Floyd Rose guitar?
Today bought one. Can’t wait to try 😅
Should it fit closely against the frets? Mine is raised maybe 2mm.
Hi. I've fitted mine to a Fender Stratocaster, but I wasn't able to get the Flatter to click into place. The surface of the flatter is maybe 3mm above the fretboard and there is very little sustain. Can you advise?
For what purpose?
did u watch the video fully?
Anyone know how to make it not sound like shit? I cannot raise my bridge any higher, and all I get is a plasticy thud with zero sustain, nothing like you hear on the videos.
Hi tucker, does the device sit snugly on the neck of the guitar? If so and still doesn’t sound good you can send it back and we will issue a refund. Thanks
Amazing. Where do I get that?
Supperbe comment se procurer ce produit je suis français.?merci beaucoup!
Would it fit unusual/uncommon guitar designs too, as long as they have a 42-43mm nut? Certainly looks intriguing!
Are you based in Israel?
Cool device, why don’t you make it the whole length of the fretboard?
This is absolutely freaking genius! Just bought one, I can't wait to try it out!
Does it fit prs standard se 24
This is the coolest idea, just got mine in the mail. For strat style guitars - should I put the foam pieces on both sides or just the bottom??? Looking for the easiest snap on possible. Thank you!!!!
How can I get one of these please?
can't wait for mine to get here! looks awesome
awesome
might as well just spend an extra like 50 bucks and get a good cheap used guitar and just knock the frets off and put wood filler in, unless you're using this more for practicality than functionality. also with doing that you can make a "half fretless" if desired, where all the frets up until the twelfth are kept and the rest of the instrument is fretless.
Love the idea, but unfortunately it doesn't cover the entire fretboard 🙁
I agree I would like the entire fretboard...
Beautiful
PLAY A FEW CHORDS OR NO SALE, peeps!
Chords on a fretless guitar aren't really what shines hehe
Just curious, why didn't you make it longer? I get that you need to account for different scale lengths, but surely it could be long enough to reach at least the 21st fret on a 24" guitar? It obviously wouldn't reach quite as high on a 25.5" guitar, but it would it would be a massive improvement over the range of this version. Still cool obviously!
I bought one ten days ago, but I have a limit today. I did not get it. I hope that it will reach Denmark from Tel Aviv 🎩👍🌹🎸🎵
It is on its way. Please let up to 21 day for the package to arrive. Thanks

It is on its way. Thanks
Will these work on an acoustic??
Only if the nut width is no more than 43mm. Thanks
Thats cool as hell man
What about left handed guitars?
I play lefty and just ordered one without thinking about that. I'll let you know how it works for me.
I just received my Guitar Flatter and the built-in nut seems to be designed for a right-handed player. I've dealt with that before. The low E might sit high and the high E might sit low, etc, but you can cut and fill as needed, which I've done before on righty nuts that I didn't want to replace or couldn't flip around.
אתה משחק בקופה ראשית?
People have historically pulled the higher frets of guitars to make them fretless above the 12th fret because that's where fretless sounds best. This product stops right about where I would want one to begin. Great idea, but that aspect kills it for me...
I am not sure what historical thing you are talking about, there are many fretless instruments in the world which are completely fretless not just the upper range and it definitely does not sound best as the sustain on the upper register is basically non existent especially on a fretless instrument. Have a listen to the music instead of saying irrelevant stuff
@@gershonwaiserfirer7916 it's a common diy approach, another being scalloped frets above the 12th fret. You know what no one has ever seen or wanted? Fretless on the lower register only. Sorry you can't handle criticism!
@@gershonwaiserfirer7916 "The hybrids. Over the years we’ve also seen single-neck instruments designed to produce both sounds. These hybrids sport fretted and fretless areas on a single neck, and there are different ways to accomplish this. One approach is to have seven, 12, or 15 frets, followed by a fretless region beyond that. For example, the first octave on an early-’80s Ibanez Musician AJ-10 Alphonso Johnson signature 4-string was fretted; above the 12th fret, the neck was fretless."
@@jamesprisciandaro3144 They have fretless banjos with only the lower register fretless. Just wanted to throw that in there. You should check out tommy jarrells brass plated fingerboard! he was doing it before the guitar flatter back in the 80s
@@jamesprisciandaro3144 I don't believe scalloped frets will give you a fretless sound. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.
Can I use it on a Precision bass? Thanks for answer.
Ufortunatly at this point we offer only a Jazz Bass version. We are working to extend our range and improve it. Thanks
@@guitarflatter1944 Isn't that a precision in the video?
Why in God's name did you stop at the 14th fret? Do you make a full length one?
Hi, we had to come up with an optimal solution for playability portability and action issues. We took into consideration that the upper range can hardly sustain at all when playing fretless because of the soft tissue of the finger. Thanks
I agree!
Tough to play in the upper register. And no sustain. I totally understand this choice.
@@guitarflatter1944 Can you make one that goes up to 22 frets?

Got mine and played with it, I love it! There are some constraints of course, maybe I could do a non-biased video on it.
What type of ring modulator are you using?
Mobius
Hi
How (or does) this work on acoustics?
At the moment we offer our product for electric guitars unless your acoustic guitar has a similar nut width to an electric guitar.
Do you have have one for a 5 string bass
Will you eventually make a model for 7 string guitars and 5 string bass?
we are working on this. thanks
Will this work on acoustic guitars?
only if the nut width is up to 43mm. thanks
