In Swedish music history, the importance of Johan Helmich Roman cannot be overestimated. Being the first native Swedish composer of international importance, conductor of the Royal Orchestra, violinist and oboist, concert organizer, music teacher, theorist and linguist, he was the man who, through thirty years of hard work (1721-1751), laid the foundation for modern musical life in Sweden. The Orleans Ballroom was part of the Theatre d' Orleans, one of the first opera houses (built 1817) in the Americas. It is an important historic landmark of world music. It was a center for symphonic musicians, many newly arrived from Europe. The Ballroom was so elegant that a grand ball was held there for Marquis de Lafayette. It is now restored and is the main building of a hotel in the Frenc...

Verse in the Phrygian mode was composed originally for organ. Here I arranged this music for brass ensemble with the Westminster Abbey as a backdrop. Purcell was organist there for many years. Music arranged in Apple's Logic Studio acoustics of the Ulm Münster Germany MidiOrleans

This project is made up of photographs I made before, during and after Hurricane Katrina. Most of this video is from a perspective of the storm captured to music and sound that I experienced while staying in the New Orleans, French Quarter during Katrina. The music composition started long before there was any Katrina and was finished after the hurricane. The bells heard are of the Saint Louis ...

Meticulously rendered... gorgeous dynamics and attention to detail, brass samples are always so tricky to tame. You chose a great piece of music and created a great recording of it. Miroslav goes up another notch on my "want to buy" list. ttfn, Eduard

Scotty Hill is a true artist, sensitive photographer and an expressive composer. His arrangements, though original, are grounded with both classical and historical influences. In Kyrie Katrina we are privileged to enter a world of truth through the eyes of one who truly passes the torch of the past to the burning minds of the future. He has survived the ravages of Time and Nature and expresses his love for life poignantly and signs, "With Love." Bravo, Maestro!

Excellent transcription... funny, since I usually think of brass when I think of Purcell, so this seems a natural fit. Gorgeous pix, looks as grand as I remember (high school trip there, remember seeing Isaac Newton's spot in the abbey too.) Perfect choice of reverb. ttfn, Drakonis
