Great looking boat. Awesome job. You might let the boat sit in the water for a while. As it absorbs water the wood will expand and it may seal up the cracks. You don't need any special paint, anti-fouling, or fiberglass necessarily, since its not going to stay in the water. I've built a few, and painted them all with exterior house paint. For a freshwater boat, its fine. "There is nothing...half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."

When you smell the paint, it is NOT yet dry. The bottom of your boat needs special paint, antifauling (for wood). The rest of the boat also needs boat-paint (sounds stupid, but it is made for the moist environment) Also the bottom needs 3-5 layers of glass-fiber. (All these items you can get from a (online)boat-shop) PS: Your boat will always collect water, from condensation and ofc rain.

Cool project! Seems like a layer or two of fiber glass would solve all of your problems... quick and easy, not too heavy, waterproof, and adds some structural support. Seems like it's already working pretty well for you, though.
