Rode Connect problem with Wireless Go II?
Переглядів 2,3 тис.2 роки тому
Here's a new issue I'm seeing with our @rodemic wireless go II not showing signal in Rode connect(1.3.5). This is on both M1 iMac, and m1 MacBook Air(12.4). By the way, we own Rode wireless go II, VideoMic NTG, VideoMic Go II, and might get the Procaster 2... so we are not trying to say these are bad - Rode equipment has been great. Is anyone else having this issue? Here's what I've tried so fa...

Thanks man!
Thank you! I was struggling to make it work with the sound of the bell. Now I know!
happy it helped!
My situation is not same as yours but maybe if you try applying same method as I do maybe it helps you out in some way. Basically I applied grayscale filter from Accessibility menu in settings. It sounds very simple but it makes the phone SO DULL that not only do I don't want to touch it, but when I do i feel disgusted at how bland it is thanks to the grayscale filter. I feel it greatly combats all the dopamine excitations that OS and apps have to keep you hooked. Additionally on iPhone I use notification summaries to schedule when notifications arrive to me which has greatly contributed in me not losing focus while doing important work, while not losing out on stuff like contact with people. If you wanna go extreme on Android, use the 'Reduce Motion' feature and enable developer settings and put all animation transitions to 0x. That way there will be almost no animations which will help the dopamine detox. Personally I don't go this far because some apps look weird or broken if they rely on animation too much. Also, in certain situations I do need colors so I have activated accessibility setting that when I slide with two fingers from navigation bar that it activates or deactivates color. It helps out when I want to use camera or at times when I want to see a photo or video in my gallery.
You could try a cellular apple watch.
@@zachvandehey3890 yeah I’ve read about that idea, is that something you’re trying?
That NTG is a bit more crisp than the Wireless Pro. I sold my NTG cause I used it for VO but it picked up a lot of water in my mouth in the highs so I thought I should get a PodMic for VO, now I kinda wanna get my NTG back lol
Ha! Legend. Incredible that there is a video specifically for this. Thanks a lot.
thanks Bill...so Grateful!
Thank you so much, very very helpful!
I love Descript for the "Studio Sound" audio correction. Works great for getting rid of wind noise and car noise.
Thank you! Very helpful.

I had the same problem and found your video. Thanks for the heads up on using the USB detected sound device it works. The issue with that is it records at a much lower volume. I found a solution. In preferences I had to set "Monitor Out" to something (I used my headphones) instead of "No Output Selected". My mics showed up right away after that.
Great video! Do you know why the "water bottle" word is off the screen?
With windows... All you need to to is: Open 'Device Manager' via your start menu Scroll down to 'Sound, video and game controllers' Right click these drivers and select Disable. intel smart sound technology for usb audio intel smart sound technology for Digital Microhones Unplug microphone from computer, then plug back in again.
Hey - If anyone else is having a problem with Rode Connect and no levels - try going into your Mac Settings under Privacy & Security and then Microphone. Make sure that the Microphone is enabled (green toggle switch) for the Connect app.
I was running into the same problem, everything connected, microphones showing up in rode connect but no signal. The same was true for system audio. What did the trick? I had to go to my Macs privacy settings and enable microphones for rode connect. That worked for me.
Legend! Just what I was looking for. Thank you
Glad it helped!
Thanks. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
I have similar problem with a Rode NT USB +, firmware updated, latest app version for Windows 11, the app when opened, will change the default device, but nether way: if I monitor I only hear a robot voice, even the sound effects sound robotic, or also it could be not sound at all. It is super annoying because the mic works great with OBS. Im trying to figure this out but there is no info about these kind of annoying bugs
I encountered the same issue... First of all, I thought it couldn't be solved, because the relevant information on the Internet is too limited, but then I found out that the transmitter has not been updated to the firmware! Based on my experience as a reference, we usually only use the receiver to connect to the computer for update and use; in fact, the transmitter is not updated synchronously, so I connected the RX and TX to the computer through USB-C one by one to update the firmware After that, the issue is ruled out. Hope this helps you guys.
YES!! This did it for me :D Thank you!
The Same Issue i hope they find out any way 2 fix it
Nice little project. Great way of explaining the code !!!
thank you!
ye, Ivy, I have the same situation you describe with my new laptop.
I just bought a new laptop. There is no original sound on in my recent downloaded zoom. Not sure why. It does have original sound for musician only. No other way to turn on original sound....on. Do you know why. Cannot hear my bell at all when I attempt to ring it in a meeting. Does anyone else have this issue?
Hi there. I know Zoom recently changed the name from Original Sound to, as you point out, "original sound for musician." So that is the same thing. Now, the reason people can't hear the bell is likely because Zoom is working hard to remove any sounds that are not a human voice. Please try it with clicking "original sound for musicians:on"
I have been playing around and need to get someone to listen on the other end again.... But, I am wondering about the options under what is now "original sound for musicians" such as high fidelity, echo cancellation, stereo audio. Is there something optimal for those? Also if you are going to ring the bell then read a quote or speak before or after the bell, are you toggling between those in thos few seconds or only turning it off after the meditation has begun and presumably you are muting yourself altogether. Thanks for this video; it is great.
ooo that's a good edge case. Let's test it. I'm lucky to have more than 1 computer, so for testing I start the zoom from computer A and join to record it from computer B. Then I can listen to judge the sound from the computer B recording.
AND JUST AS I SAY THAT IT WORKED!!! i have updated rode central again to V2.0.16 on Mac. Both my Wireless go2 Mics and Reciever are on firmware v2.2.3 i updated this also this morning. I then went back to Rode Connect and on the main screen top right where the 3 dots are i clicked on Set Up assistance and both Microphones from the Wireless Go 2 appeared to get dragged up into position. I did have both wireless microphones hard wired in as i was doing this
that's great news!
That would be great news, if it had worked for me either. It did not. I am still guessing why it does not work. And yes, the microphones are shown in Rode Connect, but not working - no sound at all. I hope for a solution! Thanks for your video so far.
having the same issue i think i have spent enough time wasted on trying to figure it out and will just delete rode connect!! cheers buddy for this video
that's exactly what I did - delete it
This was super helpful. Would love to see more of these code walkthroughs with RealityKit and SwiftUI please!
thanks for this! I'll make some more. Very happy it was helpful
Hi, having the exact same problem and wondered if you got it sorted out ?
Unfortunately, no. Rode's opinion is that this is a hardware issue with the mic. I got the same issue with 2 different types of Rode mics on 2 computers (Windows and Mac). I since made the decision to just delete Rode connect and abandon it. I'll use Voice Memos on Mac for recording, and Windows has a built in recording app, also. I know Rode connect is offered as a free add-on, and they may be busy with their new product launches, but I feel I put it significant time and effort with them over 2 months of emails and screenshots and videos but they could not reproduce the issue and did not seem interested in fixing it. I'm even starting to consider the DJI Wireless mic for my next wireless system since it includes that charging case and has an onboard touchscreen. Best of luck.
@@BillMoriarty thank you for you reply, I too am have an email dialogue with them right now and have gone through all the steps they suggested and no result yet. thing is it all worked flawlessly until they did a required update and hasn't worked since, not too sure they can call that a hardware issue though. same as you have used on both mac and windows. it is absolutely an issue with the Rode connect software and not hardware, it all works fine without Rode connect but finding the lose of volume control an issue for our streaming church service.
@@jopotter6107 Sorry to hear you're having that trouble - I hope they solve it for us. There are more complicated systems that always work by Rogue Amoeba, but Rode connect was so simple. Good luck
Is this video helpful? Too long? Too boring? Lemme know 🕶
I thought it was great. I think, as a beginner, I enjoyed the detailed explanations and your thought process. If anything I would keep making more videos of this exact same thing, but with slight variations. I think it would be cool if you could implement a feature where you click a button to start capturing and then it generates a list of all the items in your room. Then integrate it with algolia or vector database to quickly find items in your room based upon your scheduled events for the day.
@@AlexGower thanks for that - great ideas! I appreciate the encouragement
I see that probably one of the Rode devices is connected via USB-A<->USB-C adapter. Dos the adapter make a difference?
Seemingly not, since it used to work with this same setup. I also tried with 2 other usb-c to usb-c cables
Thank you
I have exactly the same problem on one Windows 11 laptop with AI-Micro and VideoMic Go II. On one laptop both devices work, on another laptop they do not. ua-cam.com/video/CDPiKYu9j7A/v-deo.html I have ruled out power supply problem. I have built USB adapter that supplied power (5V) from external, laboratory-grade power supply. Adapter was plugged between the device and laptop. It made no difference. I guess it is a software driver problem. Rode should be aware of this issue; I opened a support case 409383 a month ago. No solution yet.
That's helpful - I really like the Rode products but I'm starting to give up on Rode Connect. I found two more problems: sometimes the gain range of a mic is -12 to +6, and sometimes it is 0 to +24. The other problem is I am seeing this same issue of the mic not being seen with my VideoMic NTG on Mac, and my friend's VideoMic Go II on Windows.
@@BillMoriarty Yep, I also have VideoMic Go II and it shows the same problem; device is recognized but there is no sound coming. On another laptop it works well. Rode tried to convince me it was insufficient power problem, but I ruled this out. Anyway, many other devices I use work without an issue, most of them draw way more current. I guess they either do not know how to fix it or the problem is not a priority as long as most vlogger say how great the product is and sales go well. I never had such issues with RME - on the same laptop. The only reason why I do not always use RME is because it does not have 3.5mm mic sockets with power and is much less portable interface.
@@tdjastrzebski Yeah, and since they can't repeat the problem on their end, they can't trace it to what the problem is. I'm a software dev too, so I sympathize with the @Rode team, but I hope for a 1.3.7 update with some attempt to fix this. Otherwise, I can't rely on rode connect since there's no error messages
Same problem on my M1 macbook air, Monterey
Interesting! Rode had not heard of this bug. I'll add this to the ticket. thanks!
@@BillMoriarty I find it hard to believe they have not heard about this problem.
@@tdjastrzebski I agree - but that's what they told me
this thing has no presets?
it does! "MEGAfm holds 600 presets in its memory. The presets are divided into 6 banks of 100 presets. "
Last 20 seconds unclear...do you mean for Original Sound: Speaking=OFF, Bell=ON? It sounded like you said use OFF for both.
Sorry that’s unclear! Speaking should be Original Sound Off. Ringing the bell should be Original Sound On.
I really appreciated your video help but sad to say, even with my original audio on, my meditation bell still sounds just like a thud. I am using the PC (Lenovo) speakers, but even when I try using an over the ear mic held up to the gong, still a thud, no matter if original sound is on or off. I might have to try a better mic like the one you demonstrated (or the newer version), but I don't know if that will correct the problem? Appreciate any other thoughts, thanks- Linda Rose
I'm glad we were able to fix that together!
this is such a great video, I think I just felt in love with this box
thank you!!!
This was super helpful, thank you! I think I might get that mic you have - it sounds amazing! I also played around with changing the suppression setting from AUTO to LOW and I can keep the OG sound OFF and still hear the beautiful sound of the bell. Namaste, Amy
That's so kind of you to say! In fact Rode just put out a simpler version of the same mic for $100 - there are not buttons on the mic and you control everything in software. It's a great option. www.rode.com/microphones/on-camera/videomic-go-ii
@@BillMoriarty Awesome. I'll check it out. Namaste, Amy
Cool demonstration! I’m torn between the Mega FM and Digitone Keys. It seems like the Mega FM has a certain character that only the YM2612 can offer. Futuristic, crunchy, but also nostalgic! Do you think this sound can be captured on the Digitone Keys with pedals that can color the sound? Maybe something similar to the Chase Bliss generation loss, light distortion, etc. Just feel like the Keys offers so much more, but what the mega fm does is just so well and stands on it’s own.
thank you! I gotta turn on notifications - I wish I saw your comment earlier! I am not very aware of the digitone keys - lemme see what I can find
Digitone Keys: modern, more polished sound, not as hands on as Megafm, but killer sequencer.
With gear that uses vintage chips, there are definite limits to what you can mimic elsewhere. No, you can’t really get the MegaFM sound on a Digitone. It’s just straight up a much cleaner box. You could get closer with an opsix, there at least you can select 8 and 12 bit sines. But the gritty character you hear here is unique to the hardware. You can make each operator overdrive, 55 is the highest level before you start introducing distortion. Then there’s also the aliasing decay effect, that is a unique feature of the ym2612 and partly cleaned up by the ym3438. But you can hear it hear as he plays around with the decay. If you don’t have a sequencer get a Digitone. You can degrade audio quality and get some nice dirty tones, but they won’t be as warm as what you’ve got here. The MegaFM is wholly unique in the synth world.
Go back to neck cracking, my guy. You are up for that.
I don't understand the "detune" slider. It works only on the ch3 mode but 10% of the zone of teh slier seems to change the sound... any tips ? I found the owner's manual cryptic too... :(
Detuning operators can work in normal mode. It creates a slight chorus-like effect.
helpful. tysm
I know exactly what you're talking about, I avoided hardware gear in general for a long time, then I went into Eurorack and nowadays, well, I upload on a weekly basis and it's the utmost fun I have doing music since ;)
Variety in repetition, this is a great musical miniature.
thank you! I appreciate it
Really cool two videos of the megafm! It would be awesome if you keep posting videos of the megafm!! Maybe three or four operators?
you got it! Happy to..
It's such a gorgeous sounding synth, huh?! :)
It's just as beautifully gritty as I hoped it would be. I thought it may have reverb or delay included but it doesn't - that's ok maybe I'll end up finally getting an El Capistan.
Very smart video. Will you move to two operators in the next vid? It’d be nice :)
Thanks Andrea! I'd be happy to.
