Accelerated Collapse Shock Re-inflation
Переглядів 49Місяць тому
Bit of a nasty shock re-inflation from accelerated collapse. Apart from this one, they were all pretty soft and easy to manage
SAT to dynamic stall - sort of :-D

Brilliant mastery of your Wing 🪂
sweaty palms ...
It’s pretty calm in backfly 😅
Beautiful edit, lovely conditions. Nice use of the 360 cam, too many people seem obsessed with odd distorted views and fixing a point on the horizon things like that. The music is very effective too, hypnotic and captivating.
Thanks! - I must make more films 😊
You got the skills 👍
I got a good instructor 😅. It’s good fun to practice on boring soaring days.
so very cool ! i want to go there. was the launch called taucho ? or some other one. thank you.
Thanks! yes - Taucho - best time of year is November to February
Perfect! :)
Nicely done.
For those of us who don't do this, how did you start and stop the spiral?
I start with weight shift to the inside and then some inside brake - the right in this case. As the spiral picks up speed I release the inside brake a bit but keep weight shift inside and the glider goes nose down like this. To exit, I stop weight shifting inside and I pull the exit brake (left brake in this case) quite a lot until I pass under the glider. At this point I control the roll with the right brake again. When I feel the glider has no more roll energy to the left I go hands up all the way to avoid too much back pitch. Then I catch the dive when the glider shoots in front. This is not really how to exit spirals normally - it's more of an exercise in roll and pitch control and fast exit from rotations. So it's an exercise I do quite often to keep the muscle memory and train basic skills. But it can go really wrong - just check some SIV videos - so it's best to build up to it slowly with gentle turns and gentle exits. Or better yet, a good SIV course.
@@7up-weee Thank you.
Very smooth. Thumbs up.
Thanks 🙂
Wow
It was my right knee that hit the rock. Still a bit sore!
Ouch! How's your shin?
Wow you are amaaaaaaazing! I love everything about this ❤
Thanks sis 😂

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo ❤
Thanks 😂
Amazing , gorgeous scenery and I love the music 😊
Beautiful, cheers.👍👏👏👏
Thanks :o)
If you'd like to see how I progress in wingovers this year, let me know in the comments and I'll film my own practice and the SIV I have coming up in September 2023. I find that they are not an easy trick to get right and need a lot of practice.
Can you please describe in more detail what you do to initiate that spin?
Sure! You'll hear the instructor calling it the cravat clean to initiate, because it's the same action as an efficient cravat cleaning - (which is in my deep stall video). There's lots of brake pressure to initiate spin at this speed so you pull the inside brake until your arm is bent and then invert your elbow - so point your elbow at the sky and then punch downwards hard - like you are pushing yourself out of a chair. Once I feel it spin, to keep it spinning, I raise my hand to around carabina height which is my backfly position on this wing. Here I'm trying to exit the spin into a helico so I keep slowly raising my inside hand. The safest exit though (from a developed spin) is to exit in backfly where you slowly lower your outside hand until you stop turning. If you lower your outside hand too fast, you can get twisted up as the wing stops spinning abruptly but your body keeps turning. Great fun! You can hear Malin talk about the cravat cleaning and many other techniques on the XC magazine website in their Masterclasses section. There are 2 videos with Malin - they are really good. Thanks for stopping by, I'll make some videos of flying in Scotland next year - I'm going to get one of those action cameras.
Just to add, contrast how much force is needed to get it to spin from almost trim speed to how easy it is at stall speed. In the 'Playing in the Sh1t zone video', you can see it's very difficult to keep the glider from spinning. Any tiny amount of asymmetry in the brakes or weight shift will have it doing helico in no time, and my hands are almost up to the pulleys.
@@7up-weee Thanks! Great fun for you, it would be terrifyingly disorienting for me ...
@@NelsonsWings It is one of the most disorienting feelings in paragliding, but I'm slowly getting used to it. I'm working on learning how to heli but it's important to get used to spin anyway. I'll be taking my freestyle wing to SIV next year, it's quite difficult to learn it on an XC wing, they go off axis more easily and grab the air to re-fly. The Octane2 is more stable - it's built to heli.
That was cool..
Interesting siv, thanks for sharing, Fabien is good (agree?), which is your glider ? seem quite nervous accelerate
Completely agree... Fabien and Flyeo are excellent. Yes - accelerated collapses are dynamic on this glider - it is an Iota 2
