That probably sounds good to you now because the loss is fresh but who are you gonna get that’s better? That would leave their current job? That’s why UF is interested in him. There’s only 3 active coaches who have won a title and Kirby and Dabo ain’t leaving their schools for UF…and Mack Brown need to be in a nursing home. Kiffin is the best available and more likely to go to UF. Be careful what you wish for with wanting him gone 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’ve been over it since 2021 to be honest. Freeze at least beat Bama 2 times in a row (almost 3). Not that I’m a big freeze fan, but at least he didn’t constantly insult the fans. Florida isn’t a better program anymore, the days of Urban Meyer and Steve spurrier are long gone. So I don’t think Lane would go anyway, unfortunately for me.

@@RebelandDave it’s still a better program. Most outside of Ole Miss fans agree. Ole Miss is in a much better spot right now than UF but the ceiling will always be higher regardless of what people try and say. Josh Pate said those exact words a few weeks ago

@@MicahPounders Sorry I have to disagree with you. When is the last time Florida had a 10 win season? 2019 maybe? Because of Meyers, Tebow and spurrier Florida rode that wave and recruited well because of that success. But like I said that is long gone, the swamp is drained! Lol

1) A&M had a different coach in 2022, they also had over twenty players inactive that game due to injury or illness 2) I can give you a handful of games Florida lost despite having more talent 3) Mike Elko did a great job with the rosters he had at Duke. Even with the mass exodus at A&M, he will still have 3x more the talent

Mike Norvell's situation at FSU when he was hired was way worse. Right after the Wille Taggart era and in the middle of a pandemic

How about David Braun at Northwestern? Hired in June of last year because of their hazing scandal and got Northwestern to an 8-5 record

Roster full of guys who have went to g5 or equivalent programs and you can count on one hand the guys who even produced there . Gets hired in the time where nil and portal have changed the most and thanks to certain things not being supported you get far behind before you even start And you’re comparing a hazing scandal to having a program that’s just behind on things ?

I don't agree. Granted I think the institution didn't help Napier in the beginning of the NIL transition but UF still had a few more things going for them than FSU and certainly more resources and assets devoted to football than Northwestern

UF for the most part had the money but was still living off the logo alone and we won before without spending all this money so we don’t feel we need to now . And my NW point isn’t saying it’s a better program I’m saying the new coach only took over because of a scandal not because the last coach was just horrible at almost every aspect of the job

Okay I agree better discipline with penalties and less mental errors are a must (takes no talent there) But Florida still has a way to go when comparing talent levels to UGA, Texas, or Ole Miss. I do think they can go toe to toe with Miami, Tennessee, and FSU Samford, UCF, Mississippi State, and Kentucky I think are potential wins

His contract is performance based. That performance is not just on the field but as a student as well. He's not on scholarship and is a preferred walk-on. Since it hasn't cost a scholarship, if he fails to meet expectations no loss to Florida. If however he rises to the level he's capable of, Florida can put him on scholarship. It's a smart move.

Plus with all the veteran CBs in the room he'll have plenty of mentors to guide him along with the coaches​@@synitarthrax5618

He can coach em up! 2 years under with a bunch of young guys, and 2 have gone in the 1st round and 1 in the second. That is showing development.
