Comics from Magical Beatdown vol. 2 by Jenn Woodall
The SQ-1 drives everything, but the cv gets modified by the SLM’s attenuverter and offset to build multiple patterns out of a single 8 step sequence. The melody comes from a single deerhorn on the organ which gets a few more notes than the usual two out of the SLM, and then gets even more variation using the SLM’s scrollfo to raise and lower the whole pattern via the momentary and latching switch. Finally, the Vongon Polyphrase helps to take that simple pattern and make something a little bit more exciting.
Thanks to Josh for making the SLM, which unlocks a lot of performative possibilities in the Ciat-Lonbarde universe, even for a less chaos-focused musician like me.

Trade Ins Welcome Inspired by the sort of simple loops in 90’s detective games like Policenauts or Déjà Vu. One of the Plumbutter gongs is isolated and fed into the Vongon polyphrase. I hurt a rumor… A simple drum beat shuffles along on the ciat-lonbarde plumbutter, which is also used to modulate, and basically clock, the quatrax. A bit of unmodulated quatrax loops in the cocoquantus to provide crunchy bass and extra movement. Quatrax and coco are run through the OTO BAM for extra space.

Great minds 😄I coincidentally have an incoming sparks pedal specifically for Ciat use. Chroma console I use often too in a similar role.
Yeah, it’s a lot of fun. Just be aware that the enveloper only reacts to the left channel of a stereo input signal. It lets you do some sidechain-like things with a plumbutter, but makes the envelope hard to use with a sidrax that hasn’t been summed to mono.

@ You can email Jaak about it if you want. I got mine at launch and needed to confirm that mine wasn’t defective. He offered to mod mine to make the envelope read the sum of both channels, but was too busy dealing with the launch to do it at the time, and I haven’t gotten back to him because there wouldn’t be a toggle, and I’m not sure I want to commit.

I think one of Peter Blasser's writeups on the Plumbutter suggested that the sequencer's Red jacks could be used to "jerk" a Rollz. In any case, the pulse can be used to sorta-kinda sync a Rollz to a sequencer pattern, much more easily than trying to do it manually. In this case, it looks like I disconnected the Rollz's Orange before I shot this, but didn't remove the other cable, so it's not affecting anything you can hear at all.

Hi Ben, lovely work. Are you aware which connections on the Plumbutter are negative and aren’t ok to patch to the DK?
The general rule is don’t patch Ciat-Lonbarde brown jacks to non-CL equipment.
There is something about this preset that is magic... I've played it for hours myself. It's one of the best sounding things I've ever heard. You must play with the scaling nodes a bit more: there is magic there.
Its videos like these that make me glad I havent gotten into Modular synths...yet

FUN! when you say click the Quatrax, are you referring to the modulation? what are you patching from PB into Quatrax?
The orange cv out of the left gong on the Plumbutter is going into the master pitch gray jack of the Quatrax. I’ve tuned the gong’s resonance and clock divider to get the short tone followed by rising pitch. The timing of those tones is tied to the gong (if you listen, you’ll hear the tone is synchronized to the woodblock sound), more than it is tied to the moment my fingers trigger the bars on the Quatrax, which means the melody is getting triggered in lockstep with the (unsteady clock of the) PB. Most of the notes are pitchshifting up out of our range of hearing, which enhances the effect, though with some of the lower notes, you can sometimes tell when bars are triggered mid-shift.
