Hi, I'm Brittany! 😀 I am a fully certified STOTT PILATES instructor since 2007. My speciality is Athletic Conditioning, but I love working with Pre/Post-Natal clients, those with special injuries and the Aging Adult. (Everyone should age gracefully!!)

Yes, the curve of the spine corrector will assist by supporting your low back, but it doesn't fix the issue. Unless you've had back surgery, you likely cannot perform this type of move due to lumbar immobility or lack of deep core strength. Before you spend the money, check out this video on how to do roll-ups. It teaches you specifically how to increase mobility in the back and build core strength so that you CAN do these types of moves. Let me know what you think! Swan dive with adducted legs is this ok for lumbar ?
It's more challenging with legs adducted. If you feel discomfort in the lumbar spine, open legs shoulder-width or try bending the knees!

Bros preparing for some other type of stretching
As a newer reformer teacher in a 6-person classroom setting, I appreciate seeing your clients with different issues in your videos. Do you have someone with two knee replacements, or someone with hip replacement, or perhaps neuropathy in the feet with balance issues? I have a variety of clients with the above issues, including two with a shoulder impingement or "frozen." I still need a special populations training or one centered on rehabilitation. But first, I need to pass my reformer certification tests next week! Thank you!
Yes! Several clients with knee and hip replacements, many with balance issues and a couple with frozen shoulder as well. I'll see if they will volunteer to be a body in one of these videos! Good luck on your certification test! Any chance you're in the NOVA area? I'm looking for more teachers!

Balanced Body sells a chair without the handles. How important do you think the handles are?
In the STOTT repertoire, we use them a lot. They are helpful as balance tools on a variety of moves, plus they come into play with arm exercises like tricep dips, pull ups and more. I would recommend purchasing a chair WITH handles!
