Hey nice hunt dude.

I mainly acquire them because the quality is better than a stream, even when I compress it a little with x264. I put all mine on a Plex server and just go that route, but yes physical for me. If you sail the high seas for remuxes, prices are better too. And they can't change it or delete it. I've had several digital 4K copies be downgraded because my device was suddenly incompatible or they had a glitch or something.

I notice that the movies falling to disc rot are all super mainstream "blockbuster" movies, titles like "Titanic" that are mass produced and likely sloppily produced.. My collection consists of small films, obscure titles, art house stuff, foreign films etc, from smaller labels like "Strand Releasing" and companies I never heard of.. My collection goes back 25 years and I have NEVER experienced disc rot... Ever...

Here's a fact.. Disc rot has nothing to do with "Age..." It happens because of a manufacturing defect... I recently bought a 50 pack of Verbatim blank dvd's... Recently I discovered that almost EVERY ONE of these Verbatim discs is literally disintegrating with disc rot! Dozens of dvd-r movies that I need to locate and burn again... On the other hand I have dvd-r and factory dvd's that are TWENTY FIVE years old.... and not ONE has ever fallen to disc rot.. Because of the decline in demand for this medium manufacturers have switched to cheap glue and other materials to create their discs... Any older discs that have developed disc rot were simply not sealed correctly and the adhesive has let in air.... A properly made dvd will last a lifetime

Not sure if you realize this, but this set is not the unaltered editions of the original trilogy. These are actually the Special Editions but the 2011 versions of them. George added a few extra things from the 2004 DVD versions. Only way to get the OG unaltered is either on the internet or the Special 2 Disc DVDs of the OG Trilogy.
