    Very nice encouragement for saying the Jesus prayer with focus and intense attention. Hallowed be Thy name, Thy Kingdom come. I was raised with Christian values and with faith and love for Jesus. When i was 20 my searching led me to the Bhakti Yoga tradition which i have now been practicing for forty years. I can honestly say that I feel a deeper connection with Jesus and a more profound appreciation for his teachings because of my experiences through the Vedic teachings and the practices of Bhakti yoga.

    I love that you see the similarities in helpful prescribes between religions. To add to what you said, although it is true that some people believe there are ways of attaining moksha without the use of deities, there are many ways of achieving moksha which depend on faith and devotion to God, like in the form of Jesus Christ. Even though they may be different paths, our source is one 🙏

      @@yamsox I believe what the Gita teaches about Bhakti Yoga. There may be something universal in all transcendence but as the Gita says there is a better way. The world is waiting for Kalki. I believe Kalki has come and he has given us the most excellent path to Moksha. Jesus is Kalki. He is the way, truth, and the life and no one experiences Moksha apart from him. He is Moksha and for those that receive him, he will give the power of Moksha. He does so by taking away our Karma debt and giving us the power to be what he is. He is the definitive Guru and the last incarnation of Vishnu. There will be no others. Make him your mantra and he will free you from Kali Yuga. He will give you the power to be resurrected and end the transmigration of your soul. Blessings.

    • @byzantinedeacon
      @byzantinedeacon 22 дні тому

      I never said that. I said you are not praying with the body. You are praying only with the mind. The commandments say not to make a false witness. You are calling me a liar when I am not and breaking the commandment. There is a context that you are missing. In the Bible, the term “father” is used in various contexts. For example, Paul refers to himself as a spiritual father to the Corinthians, saying, “For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel” (1 Corinthians 4:15). Similarly, in the Old Testament, figures like Joseph and Job are described in fatherly roles (Genesis 45:8, Job 29;16) Jesus’ statement in Matthew 23:9 is understood by many scholars to be a warning against attributing ultimate spiritual authority to anyone other than God. It emphasizes humility and the recognition that all authority and fatherhood ultimately come from God. My title is a mere recognition of the service of spiritual fatherhood and nothing more, just like the apostle Paul had.

    This is the Christus Victor Theory of the Atonement correct?

    • @byzantinedeacon
      @byzantinedeacon 22 дні тому

      the atonement liturgy of the OT was to repair the damage done by sin. The sacrifices healed the people and creation. It made it and them sacred space again. There was no angry pacification of a deity. This is what Jesus does on the cross.

    • @TristanPeyton

  • @ernee100
    @ernee100 23 дні тому

    Jesus saves us...nothing else. God-man taking our sin upon Himself on the cross to receive our punishment is amazing. Our punishment for our sin is death. Christ died to satisfy this. Yet Jesus never sinned, so He couldn't continue with our wages [Rom 6:23]. Jesus Christ, our only Savior, rose from the tomb leaving our sins there. We believe in this, we are saved.

    • @byzantinedeacon
      @byzantinedeacon 22 дні тому

      Atonement means to mend or fix. Jesus defeats the power of the one who has the power of death. The one who has the power has it because we sin. @byzantinedeacon yet content without context is pretext. You err because you've lost the theme of the scripture. Paul is not writing about working on his personal salvation. He labors in the field for other sheaves of wheat to bear future yield. Here's the context: 5What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, as the Lord has assigned to each his role. 6I planted the seed and Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8He who plants and he who waters are one in purpose,a and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

    • @byzantinedeacon
      @byzantinedeacon 22 дні тому

      @@ernee100 Here some context for you. Paul’s immediate context in 1 Corinthians 3:9 is about communal ministry, true but the broader biblical context supports the idea of personal responsibility and cooperation with God in the process of salvation. Here are some examples, 1. Personal Responsibility in Salvation: o Philippians 2:12-13: “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence but now much more in my absence-continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” o This passage highlights the personal responsibility each believer has in their salvation, while also acknowledging God’s role in the process. 2. Cooperation with God: o 2 Corinthians 6:1: “As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.” o This verse shows that believers are indeed co-workers with God, emphasizing the partnership in the work of salvation and ministry. 3. Building on the Foundation: o 1 Corinthians 3:10-15: “By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved-even though only as one escaping through the flames.” o This passage continues from 1 Corinthians 3:9 and emphasizes the personal responsibility in building upon the foundation of Christ, which can be seen as a metaphor for personal spiritual growth and salvation. 4. Personal Growth and Fruitfulness: o John 15:4-5: “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” o This passage underscores the necessity of a personal relationship with Christ for spiritual growth and fruitfulness. Hope I have not errored at all in my repsonse. I was very thorough. If you don't partpaite in your salvation you will not be saved. It should be logic.

    Passions are mindless desires or hatred of someone or some thing and are tied to demons(St Maximus). Said to be demons themselves by some saints. Are what does not exist in essence but are connected to the power of the air and the darkness inside. Sin as an essence is as a garment that clothes us. It's a hard substance. Can be resolved though with prayer and possibly prolonged abstinence. Jesus showed us all the steps to really defeat Sin on the Crucifix. That's the ultimate Passion to defeat them. Divine pain for a reason. Sounds hard but you'll figure out how Jesus suffering creates so much more newness of life. God bless. .

    • @byzantinedeacon
      @byzantinedeacon 26 днів тому

      Thank you for the input, I think I was using the same place you were quoting from. In his 400 texts on love St. Maximos says, “Passion is an impulse of the soul contrary to nature, as in the case of mindless love or mindless hatred for someone or for some sensible thing. In the case of love, it may be for needless food, or for a woman, or for money, or for transient glory, or for other sensible objects or on their account.” .In terms of what they are or their origin, I think there is a great deal of diversity in the Philokalia. I use love and eating because these impulses, which are normally good, are the most relatable and often get disordered and to someone exploring the tradition most relatable. As you say the cross is the way.
