No way you can float with Mineru 😂
Of note is the fact that you can get different speeds and ways of falling depending on what you slap on Mineru's back: a Wing or Balloon are fairly quick, but a Hover Stone lets you fall the slowest!

its called shield attack, where you shield surf and attack (y) then you will spin while also dealing damage to nearby monsters
