Nice ride 👍🙏
Thanks! Two years later I have ridden t the 700 11,200 miles with zero repairs. It’s incredible. The Schwalbe Durano tires are narrow, high compression and slick tires and wore out in 2000 miles. They have a harsh ride. I replaced them with Schwalbe Marathon Plus which are a little wider and more comfy ride. They have over 9000 miles on them. Amazing. My 559 has 12,000 miles on it in the same time period. I’m retired so I ride all year and head to Florida to ride all winter. If you can spring for it, the 700 is awesome.
Hey Mark
I don't mind cold, but cold with wind is brutal. I've wanted to go to your area to visit for one particular reason...you guys have tons of great white sharks in those waters. I want to see one.
It’s gorgeous here now .we had the greatest summer! Cycled all morning and watched the fishermen haul in 30 lb striped bass out of cape cod canal! It was a “blitz”. The canal was a frenzy of huge stripers. Yes we have plenty of great suites around here. They chase the plentiful seal population. We see a lot of them In Chatham and plymouth. Nasty creatures to be sure. They make quick work of a seal! Come visit and ride with me!
dan the background is beautiful
Yes. Nantucket Sound with Martha’s Vineyard in the background as viewed from the Shining Sea bike path from Falmouth coast. I am fortunate to have many trails like that on Cape Cod. Thanks for watching! Happy riding!
Not pedalling hard? Must be an ELECTRIC trike!!
Pedaling my butt off. There are several flat spots in the climb where I coasted for a few seconds . No motor…just 165 pound old man. Ride is just a few hundred feet and in those areas I was working hard. Look at the cranks in front…do you see a motor? I worked hard there and the feeling of satisfaction upon completion is awesome.
Nothing like a good hill to get your heart rate going. Nice to see leaves on the trees by you.
Very beautiful scenery and houses! 👍
Thanks for watching. It was a cool Beautiful day and it’s a fabulous part of the Cape. Will be getting crowded here soon! Stay well!
@@markfeldman6509 thank you
Looks beautiful and it looks like it was a beautiful day.
It was a cool sunny day and a heckuva ride. Beautiful spot. Incredible homes! Stay well!
@@markfeldman6509 I enjoyed it!
i don't understand why catrike would only sell you it if you promised to buy a deraileur. whats it to them? anyway, greetings from uk. i love my yellow 700. definitely a v fast machine although i cannot do a genuine 30mph on the flat (i wish). i fell off my mtb 6 weeks ago (slipped on a wet cattle grid) and was quite badly injured. thumb has still not healed. its made me appreciate the trike even more. wonderful machines
They won’t let incomplete trikes out of the factory. I had to show I had the exact missing part for them to release it. I have since found a spare derailleur and bought it as I also have a 559 and that part is subject to damage from road hazards. I hope you heal completely and rapidly and get back out on your trike. They are much safer!
@@markfeldman6509 thanks. hope so. falling off a bike makes me wonder at the irony of trike riders being constantly asked if they feel safe so low to the ground :)
Wow, nice trike. You go so fast, so much fun!
Yes it’s awesome . I’ve been in Florida for 3* months and heading home in a few days .rode 3100 miles in that period in warm sunny windy weather! 700 performed beautifully. Driving home to hopefully good weather and to share some riding home with my 559. Thanks for watching!
Certainly nothing like that around here. And btw, nice legs!
Very cool! As you know, I too love this stuff!
ua-cam.com/video/ZhL-kOfPAwU/v-deo.html&feature=share
Hey Mark, got my 700 today. Very please .this saturday gonna opener up.
Many happy fast miles! It’s an awesome machine. Don’t get any speeding tickets! Be careful going over rough spots on the trail as it is a much firmer ride than the 559!
You got your trike! Good on ya. My first 700 was a yellow one, too. Just beautiful. Im trying not to sing “The Way We Were.” Haha! Looking forward to more videos, perhaps someone holding the camera on you at speed!
Good to see you guys out there, Mark. Take care; keep it rolling. Be blessed.
I finally got CatSevenHundred with Zipp carbon rear wheel and a FSA carbon cranks. I believe its 2019 model year. I loves it especially on hard cornering without a crash that happens to me in Sidewinder in similar fate. Recumbent seat is the verdict of all recumbent choices. Cat7oo seat were nearly excellent, notice also my upper spine bone are rubbing the backrest. Solution: neck pillow. Other added stability is screen-wire lumbar support. Very comfortable and secure in upright position. Cat7oo were swap to lightning r-84 no monetary fund exchanges. Unhappy and frustrated on r-84 as well as LCD in Lompoc, Ca.
It’s a great trike. Mine is a 2021 model and the seat has been vastly improved with all kinds of support built in and it is very comfortable. I have ridden it 500 miles in the 3 weeks I have owned it and it is super comfortable. Very nimble, very fast, great cornering, a,little rough on the bumps with the high psi and thin tires. I am rotating between it,and my 559 to give them both love!
Tell Peter to keep it up! You guys are looking good! Keep on rolling!
He a great guy in his 70’s who was obviously a serious cyclist and is using the trike to get back in the game and facilitate his recovery. He deserves a ton of credit for his determination and effort.he did all of his research and knew he wanted a hub drive e assist trike and he lives right in the Cape Cod Canal path and approached me when he saw me riding my 559 and quizzed me on trikes. I let him test ride my 559 and he said he needed an assist. I told him I had a spare in my Trail and let him demo it and he insisted on buying it. A win/win as I put the proceeds right on a 700 which I had been eyeing.
@@markfeldman6509 It's nice when things work out!
Thanks to meeting Mark I have been able to get on the road to recovery. The trike is a great rehab tool.
Great to see you're on the road (literally) to recovery, Peter! Riding trikes is so much fun, it's easy to forget about the many physical benefits of riding.
Nice to see you got your 700 Mark and you couldnt of picked a better setting . New England is beautiful this time of year especially when the waters are calm . Have a safe ride my friend ..
Is there a story or reason for putting the stones on the larger rocks?
Yes….it’s kind of a custom on New England beaches to dry stack stones as a sort of “personal signature” graffiti like symbol of having been there so to speak. Many neighborhoods have the stacks and actually drill holes through them and actually insert thin metal rods to hold them intact. It makes for a very interesting picture.
@@markfeldman6509 Interesting. Is there a name for it?
@@DavidRidesaTrike I honestly don’t know but will ask some of the merchants the next time I am over there. I rode the 22 mile roundtrip from Falmouth to Woods Hole several times per week and have lunch there frequently. I am going to Newport RI on Friday and I am riding the ocean drive and will film it and also Bellevue Ave where all,of the turn of the century Newport mansions are located. It’s a spectacular place.
@@markfeldman6509 that should be a nice video. My wife and I were out there a while back (1988?) and we did a tour of one of those famous mansions. Pretty cool.
@@DavidRidesaTrike Dont mean to intrude but here is your answer to your question . Rock stacking has carried spiritual meaning across cultures for centuries. The act of balancing stones carries with it a practice of patience and a physical effort of creating balance. Each rock can signify an intention of grace for thankfulness, or offered up for another in need. ... A stack of rocks is called a cairn.
Stay dry over there, Mark! Here's hoping the storm's not too bad!
The weather folks blew it totally. We had nothing on Cape Cod as the storm veered way west to Connecticut, NY and NJ.. 5 am shower and light winds then I went out and hit golf balls and an evening ride. And these idiots think they can tell us what the climate will be 100 years from now. I dragged in all of my deck furniture and took all of the other precautions for nothing. It was an uneventful day here weather wise! Thanks for watching!
@@markfeldman6509 We could sure use some of that rain over here. Might help put out some of these fires. :)
Fantastic looking trike, Mark, and it sounds like it certainly lives up to its reputation in the speed department! Amazing that you were able to get it so quickly due to Catrike's inability to get derailleurs (and your ability to find one). Hopefully their supplier will get parts flowing again soon!
I was just plain lucky getting the part. Amazing what the power of the internet can do. The folks at Catrike were just incredible to even make the offer. The trike is extremely light and well engineered and very comfortable. One has to be pretty trim and fit to sit in the cockpit as it is about 2” narrower than their other trikes. If not agile one is not getting in and out too easily. Going out for another long ride today all of the way out to Truro or Provincetown on the tip of the Cape. Stay well. Avoid those fires out there!
@@markfeldman6509 Yep, same with the VTX- It's a killer getting in and out but I guess that's the price we pay for speed. :)
@@bikestrikesrazors …these speed machines are built for lean, agile people. The 700 is probably 2” narrower than their other bikes . It supposedly has a weight capacity of 250-275 pounds but I can’t see a guy that big fitting in one. I weigh 165 and it’s fine. No way a chubby person gets in and out of it! Had a wild crazy rain here for hours overnight….remnants of one of the hurricanes which we actually missed on Sunday.
@@markfeldman6509 That's a really good weight capacity for a race style trike!
I can’t imagine a really big burly person ever getting in and out of this trike without a struggle. I’m sure the specs say it can carry that weight but these fully recumbent high performance trikes I believe are built for more trim, athletic folks. The VTX is awesome also but probably has the same characteristics as far as getting in and out.
Congrats, I like the color.
Thanks Peter! I’ll contact you to meet up for a ride one day this week. I was strongly attached to the old yellow Trail. . I know you are enjoying it!This 700 weighs nothing and is faster than hell.
Is there a grocery store open past 5 in woods hole? Falmouth is 4.5 miles away, and I wouldn’t have a car…
Woods Hole is a pretty big town so it is safe to assume there is at least a small local grocery store open late plus a large Stop and Shop nearby.just google Stop and shop locations and Im sure a local one will pop up. Plenty of shopping in the town. Falmouth also has any shopping you could possibly need as it us a much larger town.
Beautiful scenery Mark I’ve always heard fall in New England was pretty!
Thanks. Unfortunately those days are passed! I just arrived in south Florida for the winter for four months to escape the nastiness of the snow, ice, darkness and cold! Gorgeous down here! Have a wonderful holiday season and a happy healthy new year!
I was gonna say that you'll miss being by the ocean, but you'll still be by the ocean. Only warmer. :)
Correct. I will be riding a nice loop from boca Raton north to Palm Beach on A1A along the ocean. Tough work but somebody had to do it!
Your last pre-FL ride?
We don't have the colorful trees here in Florida. Looks nice.
Haha. We don’t have them here any more, either. I am packing up and driving down to south Florida mid December for four months. I need sunshine and warmth! Have a great holiday season.
Hey, Mark! Wow, nice weather and a nice trail. Reminds me of my trail up here; lots of people walking dogs, jogging, strollers, etc. 40 lb. stripped bass? Amazing. Very interesting information. Be safe out there, Sir. Thanks for posting.
Thanks David. We are winding it down with the weather here now. I ride anytime it is over 30 degrees. Mid 40’s-50’s is awesome. Late day rides are tough now as sun sets so early. Heading to Florida in 4 weeks for the winter. I hope you are fully recovered and can veto it soon. Best wishes for,a happy holiday season.m
Nice ride Mark. I really like the different colors of the leaves. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Chris. Leaves look a heck of a lot prettier on the trees! The season is really winding down here in New England with the early darkness, cold and dampness. Plus the Patriots really suck this year!
Nice scenic bikeway.
It’s a great 14 mile roundtrip in total safety with no traffic.... but generally lots of wind.
Beautiful trees, love the bright red ones. Nice to see your. neighbourhood. Thanks for sharing.
We are fortunate to have such beauty for a few weeks. It will be gone shortly and we progress to the dark cold damp winter with lots of snow! I head to Florida for four months to avoid it!
Dang UA-cam and it's notifications. I only just saw this. Nice trail. That rail bridge is some piece of engineering!! Hope you're keeping well.
The retractable rail bridge is an amazing piece of work. Takes 3-4 minutes to raise and lower and the trains zip across from the mainland to the cape and back.its in use 4-5 times per day. I have a video of it in action and will find it and post. I hope you and family are all well.
Shining sea is the best, saw your commsnt on GCN video
I've ridden in 26 degree weather so your not the only one who's crazy 😂! Nice ride
We are all a little crazy. Fleece lined clothes and gloves and a wool hat with ear covering and it is easy. The good news is I go to Florida between December and April. Stay safe.
NIce ride video Mark ... keep em coming ...
ChisWest ...thanks.... I intend to ride the historic roads of Newport Rhode Island in about 10 days and give a big tour of the mansions on Bellevue Ave( great Gatsby stuff)from the previous century and along Ocean Drive showing Narragansett Bay and the Newport Bridge. Waiting for a new mic and a stabilizer so,quality will be better. Always have to get the new toys....
Wish we had had the time to ride both sides of the canal last year. Remember that wind too ...
PedalPushin AK .....the wind was really brutal today. Temperatures were perfect....low 60’s. Into the headwind I was really cranking and going 10-11 mph....on the return I was going 19-23 mph with little effort. We have had the nicest weather you could imagine. Fabulous riding this fall!
Gorgeous scenery is that a bionx display on the front?
Pretty place
What a beautiful,spot.
Down Under Recumbent Trike Ventures - Pamela Laxton ...thanks. New England is full of them. I am driving 75 miles next week to ride Newport Rhode Island along the ocean and Belvedere Ave where all of the turn of the last century mansions were built. Spectacular ride. Then off to Vermont to ride and video the fall foliage in October. Stay tuned!
Nice ride. Love riding beside the beach and the waterways.
Down Under Recumbent Trike Ventures - Pamela Laxton ...thanks. Lots of New England tours coming up.!
It is amazing the things you see sometimes when you are out and about. On one of our rides we saw a home made small steam powered boat go up the creek.
Down Under Recumbent Trike Ventures - Pamela Laxton ..riding in the White Mountains of New Hampshire last summer I was running alongside a 125 year cog railway train that was going to run up Mt .Washington...the highest mountain in New England. No way I could cycle up that hill...incredibly steep with switchbacks so the train could make the trip.
These are great videos, Mark, but other trikers can't find them because of the titles. If you go back and change the titles (you should be able to do this still) making sure to put "recumbent trike" in the title somewhere along with the brand and model of your trike, other enthusiasts will then be able to find these and you'll be getting hundreds of views. They're too good not to share. :)
Great suggestion .will do so ASAP...I should have entered the key word triking to get the algos to send them to other trikers. Thanks.
@@markfeldman6509 I always thought that the "tags" section would get viewers to the videos, but I've found that I really have to put the right words in the video title.
Bikes, Trikes & Razors! I edited and switched the title tags and getting hits quickly. Thanks for the tip!
Great video! Beautiful trail! Right on the beach!
Bikes, Trikes & Razors! You bet. Watch for a tour of Newport Rhode Island the end of next week the a foliage tour of Vermont in October!
Nice👍
Remember that ride from last fall ...
Are you in NJ?
These rides are mostly on Cape Cod where I live. Many are in the Cape Cod Rail Trail which extends from Yarmouth to Wellfleet(26 miles) then loops down along the ocean to Chatham...another 12 miles. Chatham is essentially the “Hamptons” of Cape cod
What kind of trike are you riding?
