A little art goes a long way | little blue house by the sea
Переглядів 91Рік тому
I didn’t have any plan for this little monochrome painting. I simply let the brush go, feeling the different pressure on paper and its effects, with only 3 shades of blue watercolour paint. It helped brighten my mood, which is why I called this art video “a little art goes a long way” It reminds me of a phrase I usually hear in my yoga practice (Yoga with Adriene).

Let’s talk more about perimenopause! I am 51, have been fully in it for the last 5 years. It’s one of those things that women don’t often talk about, before it happens, and even then, rarely! This first video focuses mostly on the vitamins and supplements I am taking currently. This is not meant to influence or educate, just sharing my own personal story. I will create more videos relating to my...

In this vlog, I talk about health improvements I am noticing, especially with skin (with before photos), 6 weeks after re-introducing meat after I quit being vegan for 11 years. The power of animal-based collagen is strong, I am guessing! I also share some of my favourite recent meals. My vlogs reflect my own experiences and opinions. They are not meant to advise. Really cute choices! I ordered Familiar Sights too and wanted to see it in action 😂 thanks for the video!
I think fat is more important for IF than protein. When I started keto I thought there was no way I could IF but it became natural for me.
I love the flowers and border, that really spoke to me. The line drawing of the face was very cool too. Such a great form of emotional release and bringing beauty to your day too.
Thank you so much Karen!
Really cool works. You are definitely an artist!
Thank you so much!
I really like your new intro! I’m calling you an ARTIST every fiber of your being shouts artist! I hope you practice calling yourself an artist too. This was interesting and also inspiring. Your drawings are GREAT. I’m excited we will be practicing together in October. I also feel just like you, September is when I begin to feel inspired and find myself creating more in the fall and winter months.
Thank you so much for all your words! I am looking forward to Peachtober challenge too!
I'm not sure why UA-cam decided to recommend this to me out of the blue, but I'm so so grateful that I clicked through! As an aspiring visual designer, I've been wanting to learn more about art history for a while now, but it's always been on the backburner since I never knew where to begin -- that is, until your video came to me like a gift from the universe! (or algorithm haha) Thank you so much for making this video and for sharing your approach and your books! I'm finding that this is such a great guide to start with and I truly appreciate it. I'm really happy to start subscribing and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the rest of your stuff! 😃
Thank you so much for your kind comment, it made my day! I am still new at creating UA-cam videos and really appreciate your positive and encouraging words! 😊 Thank you for subscribing too!
I love the applause at the start! The pop up pictures and the flip through of your art books. I love that you are diving into art history on your own. You are a curious and natural learner and teacher. Yay for thrift store art books. I have yet to read and DO the entire artist way. I’ll get to about chapter 3 however off and on can manage morning pages. My copy of artist’s way is thrashed! I’ll have to see that movie, the art is right up my alley!
Thank you :) I loved the clapping too for the books, like they are the stars of this show!
So happy you opened! I’m not familiar and it was fun to see. Little free bag! I always love yellow. How cute the little gifts are. I love the illustrations. I admire you keep up on your planner. Loved it, thank you.
Thank you! 🤗
Thank you for sharing! I’m in my mid 40s and can feel my body changing. It is approaching time to adjust my vitamins and supplements.
You’re very welcome :)
Very cute cover on cover!
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for opening the deco tape and testing it.
I am so glad you liked it! I wanted to see how it worked right away!
I love your robot❤
Thank you :)
I love watching you paint, quite relaxing and also anticipating what would come next. I giggled at the start when your paint brush cup fell over. Totally could relate😊 little house upon a hill! Love all the blues!
Thank you so much! I wondered who would notice the cup falling over, I am not surprised you did! 💕
I love it Alex! So soothing 💙
Thank you, I am so happy you loved it 💛
There is no sound with this video! I meant to add music and completely forgot before publishing it 😢
These are SO GOOD!!! I also want to see what looks like city or building drawings! I love this short
Thank you so much! It must be the sketch I did of my view from the Montreal train station. I will have to do another video maybe or just send it to you ☺️
So many fun different exercises!
Yes! It’s been wonderful so far! A great way to start playing with art again :)
You live in such a beautiful town. That big chocolate cookie looked yummy, is that what that was?
It was a walnut meringue dark chocolate cookie! It is huge, I always bring half home for the next day 😁🥰
This video went quick and I felt like we were sitting in the same room chatting!
Thank you, I am glad it felt like that :)
Love your into with the clouds! I absolutely love that you found a solution for your supplements in a cute basket and now you won’t forget! May just adopt this! I take a powdered magnesium that makes me giggle because it’s like making a potion, it bubbles and foams in the hot water. It’s called calm. Thank you for not only explaining the supplements and also telling us the results when taken. When I visit my farmers market I’m going to see if they have tremella. He has all sorts of mushrooms even a mushroom growing kit!
Thank you :) Baskets are the best for so many things! Let me know if you end up picking up some mushroom supplements!
I love how this change in eating has made some positive changes in your skin and hair! That must feel so good. Your food always looks like it could be in cookbooks and magazines! So beautiful, colorful and nourishing.
I’ve decided to try intermittent fasting because it feels very natural for me…however I need to come up with a way to get my morning caffeine into me without breaking the fast. Fascinating observations…we found a lot of improvements when we went vegan and then we didn’t. I’ve found Clementine has really grown since adding meat back into our diet…could be coincidence, but interesting for sure. Love following your journey
Thank you for sharing that. I find it interesting that stopping the vegan “diet” is not often talked about. It’s almost like it is shameful, but we each need to do what is best at the moment for ourselves. Intermittent fasting will be my next topic because I am really enjoying it and it does feel natural to me too! I drink green tea either matcha or regular green tea, without anything in it so it does not break my fast. I never thought I could manage to function without eating breakfast first thing when I woke up!
I miss Ontario art galleries! What a beautiful building! 😍
It was one of the things I was looking forward to when moving back to Ontario! I try to go as often as possible, especially to the National Gallery in Ottawa.
Each time you share your adventures I want to go! The gorgeous window ceilings and I really love how they have a Louise Bourgeois spider statue out front! Thank you for sharing. Perfect INFP day, art, books and nourishing food.
It was a perfect day! I love that you recognize the spider :)
Oh how fun!! Thank you for sharing ❤️
You are so welcome!
❤❤❤
🥰😍😘
Love your meals
Thank you so much 😊
I love these! You’re inspiring me to get back to my self care and vlogging, friend! Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you so much! I would love to see more of your beautiful videos!
Hello there. I will be following your journey with interest. Can I ask why you specifically want to add animal protein to your diet? I wonder if you have included plant proteins in the past and if you found them inadequate? Many thanks and sending best wishes from the UK.
Hi! Thank you for your kind words! I used to include plant based protein. As I entered the peri menopause years, it has been a combination of not being enough and my stomach not being able to handle as much the beans/soy/etc 😔
I am walking on the same line medically. I am post menopause, but I have to up some animal products. I need the extra protein for my hair and muscle growth. I absolutely hate it! However, I have to take care of me like you have to take care of you! I am very happy that you popped up on my feed today. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is not easy to go back to animal protein, but I am needing it for health reasons too. As we get older, our needs change!
Why give up veganism? No way will I
Honestly, I never thought I would have either! My body’s needs have been changing in perimenopause.
Yum! Such a cute song!!!!
Your food always looks BEAUTIFUL! Colorful, nourishing and I wish you could cook for me!!😆 I love to hear about your energy and improvement. Does this mean you will continue with the animal proteins?
😊 thank you! Yes, I will continue with including animal-based protein. I want to try it for a much longer time period than just 1 month!
Carnivore diet cured so much for me! * No more perimenopause- completely reversed! *Period cycles all timed perfect with 4 week intervals. And no PMS symptoms, but only the actual menstrual cycle itself! *No more night sweats *No more waking every 2 hours at night! *It used to take me 20 minutes or longer to fall asleep at night when I would first go to bed at night- before carnivore. Now it takes like a minute or less. Haven’t noticed since I am out fast! *No more life long eczema *No more cold hands *No more cold body temp in general! Used to feel like a reptile - only warm in texas sun. *No more IBS symptoms (gas, bloating, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea) *No more feeling low energy by 12pm and zombie by 4pm *No more purple looking hands in winter *No more brain fog *No more arthritis that I felt in hands, knees, and hips- or elbows *used to have sore hips when sleeping on my side. No more! *Lost 45+ pounds from former baby weight and peri menopause weight. *Always had 20/20 vision with slight stigmatism- but in March doctor said my stigmatism is reversing! *Don’t sunburn as easily anymore and tan well. *Wrinkles around eyes seem to be much less. I am 46 and look like I am in early 30’s. *Gums look super healthy. Dentist seems irritated as my teeth are not dirty when cleaning every six months. Think they know they won’t make money off me. *No more sore chest from monthly periods- no swelling feeling of fullness or discomfort that prevented me from sleeping on my stomach. Now I sleep every night on my stomach! *Fibrocystic Breast issues reversing! Almost all gone after 6 years of buildup! *no cravings unless they are for meat *no more angina symptoms before a period- which started about 3 years ago. *No more feeling weak like almost passing out and dizzy around ovulation and periods * no more fingers swelling- that started a few years ago- rings kept being tight- is pattern I noticed. One ring I had resized larger and it’s super loose now. Will have to resize smaller. *feel stronger- now lifting barbells not just hands weights. Dr. Baker said since I am 46, and 5’7” at 122lbs- need more resistance training to add more muscle weight. . So bought a 47lb barbell off Amazon and have 40 extra pounds added to it. Will continue to progress with that. * i had started growing grey hairs in one of my eyebrows, few hairs at a time, but no grey in my blonde hair yet - but assumed it was coming before Carnivore. Now on carnivore I have had no new grey hairs growing in eye brows and still no grey hair in my natural blonde hair. And in the sun it gets super light highlights. * no more body odor! * I used to get a little anxiety with large crowds- like if attending special events- but since on carnivore I don’t get it that much. *I was a bit OCD before carnivore, but so much more relaxed so barely like that. * I was a relaxed person before, but somehow am even more relaxed and never stress about things. *Since I was a young child my sense of smell has been terrible. But not even a month in on carnivore my sense of smell has gone crazy! I smell things even far away! Amazing! *no more allergies! I was allergic to cedar and oak pollens- and mold- but since carnivore I am no longer reacting to those outdoor pollens which is amazing! * I have had no more issues from ear wax build up. Had it twice after having kids and docs would say it was a hormonal problem. Carnivore cured that too! If I think of anything else will add. ☺️👍🏻 I know when people go on carnivore they are trying to heal something, but if they aren’t like me and notice small things- they may not notice they are healing way more than they realized- things plant foods were causing! And they need to remember, processed foods are made from plants- but so are whole foods (raw or cooked!) they are all toxic! The carnivore diet cures! ☺️👌🏻 The body is a network made of multiple gears- and if one gets messed up it causes a whole domino affect of problems like I had! The carnivore lifestyle is not a fad, it’s the ancestral human way of eating! Go Carnivore for a few months and see how you feel! ☺️👍🏻
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I am just at the start, but noticing little changes already!
@@ItIsMeAlexandra keep a log and share with everyone so you are another person proving the carnivore diet heals! ☺️👍🏻
same experience here. after having spent almost 3 decades on a plant based diet what saved me at the end was meat. not only am i healthier now, i also feel happy everyday. the proper human diet is a diet that includes meat!
Well done! I saw my friend Ronda’s name on the outside mural, I smiled because mostly when I see her name it has an H. I also love that I can hear the sounds of the world around you as you speak. It’s soothing.
Thank you 😊 It was a lovely date!
Congratulations!!🎉❤❤🎉 You should share your testimony with Vegan Deterioration channel
Thank you, I will go search for that channel!
Glad to hear this!!
Thank you :)
Your new haircut is gorgeous!! Thank you for the mention. Your food always looks so good and I enjoy the pix you share on your walks.
Good morning. I LOVE your planner!!! I have a small book I do something similar but not that extensive. Impressive!! I'm not sure about the plan you have to increase your protein. I'm curious as to why you feel you need to go the animal product route ? It is pretty hard to be protein deficient if that is your concern. I've only ever seen one person in my whole career and that was after bariatric surgery that was not managed well. Have a great day!
Thank you! I love using my planners. I talk a little bit more about why I am reintroducing meat protein in my 2 vlog videos. Probably with future vlogs, I will share more 😊
I’m convinced you’re a Super hero! I got tired just watching your records and reset. Mind blown! This is the one area we are not alike. 😝
Thank you so much sweet friend! I love using journals and keeping track of things :)
Alex!! People are really responding to your new diet! This is so exciting. I’m glad you are doing what is best for your body. I love that your pepper was in the shape of a heart!❤ the roasted veggies look so wonderful too.
I was vegan for 13 years and now I eat eggs and cheese, do what best for your health.
Thank you, it is definitely my goal, to do what feels best for me :)
I was a vegan for 15 years. Jumped into meat based keto for medical reasons and the only issue was diarrhea for a while which is very common. Mostly I just immediately felt better and that has continued.
Thank you for sharing! One of my issues was digestive and I am so surprised how already I am feeling better with that!
That meal looks delicious!!!!
It was! :)
I encourage you to go complete carnivore and zero plants. It will be amazing. That’s me 13 months. Beef and eggs lots of fat. It’s amazing
Thank you! It’s been quite interesting to notice how I have been feeling better, already so quickly!
From my personal experience that is just as extreme as being a vegan and doesn't work for everyone.
@@amazinggrace9675 yes I agree with you and for myself it sounds a bit too much too, but I also feel that everyone should do what works for themselves :)
@@amazinggrace9675 it does work for everyone, but some never come the the correct conclusion on toxicity of plants.
@@amazinggrace9675 So you tried carnivore?
I stopped being vegan after a decade and it was so hard, first meat i ate had me in bed for a full day🤦🏻♀️ I wish I knew back then how to go back slowly, so silly of me
Thank you for sharing, it must have been like a shock to your system :( I hope you feel much better now!
You are speaking clearer and more fluently than your previous vlog. Getting more amino acids and b vitamins.
Thank you for saying that. I am so new at making these videos, it’s a steep learning curve!
Looking forward to the rest of the vlogs 👍
That is so sweet! Thank you for your kind words :)
The Ocean train is in Canada, from Halifax to Montreal 🚞 I travelled from Moncton, New Brunswick to Montreal! I left the original sound on this short video because I love the sound a train makes on the tracks 🛤️
I like the sound too
I'm not and never have lasted long as vegan when attempting it. But I've certainly been heavily plant based throughout life because you know, carbs taste so good. I eat meat and in fact digest it better than all types of plants but I need to incorporate it into recipes because a simple plain burger on a plate is boring. There are so many recipes out here on UA-cam to incorporate it into dishes. Just UA-cam search recipes with (insert type of meat you want to have.) You might be able to just add meat (and cheese) to the vegan dishes you already make too. One channel I really like is called Girl Gone Grilling. She used to be keto but apparently changed things up because she does utilize carbs now. A lot of her recipes are on the grill and smoker but she also does some others in the oven. You can also adapt most of what she makes for stove and/or oven as well. Good luck. You got this. The protein will help you feel so much better.
Thank you so much! I appreciate all the info you shared and UA-cam has so much content for recipes!
