    Mitään meän kieltä ei ole olemassa. Kyseessä on suomen kielen murre. Kirottu Ruotsin valtio on keksinyt kutsua sitä "kieleksi", jottei tarvitsisi kouluissa opettaa suomea eikä nähdä asiaa, kuten se on: suomalaiset ovat osassa Ruotsia alkuperäisasukkaita. Valitettavaa on, että myös joukko typeriä "meänkielen" puhujia on lähtenyt tätä agendaa ajamaan.

    Its just finnish but classified as a different language so swedes can avoid granting official status to the finnish language in sweden. If they werent counted seperately there would be way more finnish speakers in sweden than swedish speakers in finland yet finnish speakers have zero language rights in sweden. "Meänkieli" is purely a nefarious swedish political invention.

      Finnish is an official minority in Sweden bro

    • @Uralicchannel
      @Uralicchannel День тому

      Also you clearly haven’t read the history of this. Meänkieli people themselves supported the status. Sweden at one point tried to teach standard Finnish to Meänkieli speakers, but it failed because standard Finnish it too different from Meänkieli and the children got demotivated to learn it. Finns understand Meänkieli better than vice versa, since Meänkieli has so many Swedish loans we Finns know from our mandatory Swedish classes.

      @@Uralicchannel The problem is not what language they are taught but the fact that they arent taught in their own language. Small good it does them to have one lesson about their own dialect a week when everything else is taught in swedish and sweden has even been taken to human rights court over punishing finnish children for speaking finnish to each other during school.

    • @Uralicchannel

      @@araincs That problem was not institutionalized attack on Finns, but individual teachers doing it. There is no law in Sweden that children cannot speak Finnish in school. Sweden has created whole television shows in Meänkieli among other media, I’d argue that Sweden is much better with Uralic languages than Russia is.

      Many Swedish origin loan words used by Meän kieli are used also in many other Finnish Western dialects. Meän kieli makes its own language in Sweden, but in Finnland there has been hard debate wether Meän kieli is really a language or just a dialect. There are many same type of on going debates about sevelar dialects. There has bern many ongoig debates about sevelar dialects, specially in Karelia.

      @@Uralicchannel Where is the line between a language and a dialect continuum? Now that's a complex question to which you can't give an outright correct answer. The fact that meänkieli is considered another language is ofc partly a political agreement. But from a pure linguistic pov, when you look at how similar it is to Finnish, it could without a doubt be considered just a dialect. Especially when the almost exact same thing is spoken on the Finnish side of the border between Sweden and Finland and it is considered a Finnish dialect there.

    Pretty similar to the dialects spoken in eastern Finland, with some Swedish loans. My (Finnish) brother once worked in Pajala, northern Sweden. He told that one of his clients, an old woman, started crying when she heard a doctor speaking Finnish. Obviously, it had never happened before... Probably, the maintenance of Meänkieli wasn't a top priority in Sweden.

    One must remember that old Finnish found in written documents is only one form of the language. For example, in the 16th century, if there were documents written in Finnish, they were mostly made by Swedish-speaking officials, who used very formal Finnish in their texts. We know that even today the difference between written and spoken Finnish is drastic, let alone back in the day, when regional dialects were more distinct to one another. The Finnish of Mikael Agricola and many of his peers and eventual successors was of western Finnish language form. Nobody really knows what spoken Finnish exactly sounded like before the 1500s, or even later on. Don't let yourself be deliberately biased.
