Creating publication quality images with PowerPoint and GIMP - workflow and best practices
In this video I give my workflow for constructing publications figures including 1) sizing slides so that font and images are consistent when imported into text documents, 2) tricks for easily updating figures without ruining the figure layout, 3) exporting high-resolution images from PowerPoint, and 4) cropping and resizing images using GIMP.

Debugging floating-point issues such as dividing by zero can be difficult or even impossible without a parallel run environment. In this video I show how to trap floating-point errors in a UMAT and its subroutines while simultaneously running in parallel.

Dear sir, I have been following your videos for quite a while. I have one question related to my research area. Could you please provide an answer. I have a model with shell element (S4R), having 5 integration point along the thickness. I have to provide initial stress (or temperature) before running the actual analysis. These stress which I need to provide varies along the shell thickness. In GUI I cannot select shell outer surface or inner surface to assign it. Hence I have to do it in python scripting. Would you care to share some insights or ideas on how to provide these stresses at nodes before analysis...? If not for shell, atleast for any other type of element by scripting will help me. Thanks in advance.

They aren't mine to share. The method described for trapping while running in a parallel environment is explained though and you can look up the documentation from Intel to learn more about explicit floating point trap handling. Best

This whole tutorial relies on a plug-in, with no info on how to obtain the plug-in.
You can find it in the simulia forum, but its bugged or smthg. Max arg is (0)

Hi Daniel, I am trying to follow your instruction, however, my abaqus version does not have same options like yours. the revolve cut 360 is absent there. Do I have to use any plug in for that. what's your version?

Thanks for the video. It is interesting to see stress mapping from coarse mesh to finer mesh. Do you have any advice if this can be applied to a deformed mesh model imported from odb result.
Hi, I have received this plug-in from DS however, there is an error pop-up "50848 is not in list". This appears when the plug-in constructs the topology. Ha... Anyone knows the solution?

hi again, i finally download the plugin and created my geometry. but i stil have a problem, i did a cut extrusion in my part but when i went to mesh module i didn't get the same result, abaqus display a message "assigning elements techniques or something like that, it takes a very long time i had to put my computer off in order to start again but it didn't work

The plug-in can be requested from Abaqus customer service. They sent it within a few days of my requesting it. Checkout my other video for the last piece of the puzzle - solution mapping. ua-cam.com/video/1-BdiysXXvw/v-deo.html Update: Newer versions of Abaqus have the plugin capabilities built into CAE.
