    Do you actively lift the back foot/knee/leg to allow the back wheels to bump over the coping?

    • @DJG623
      @DJG623 3 місяці тому

      The key to rolling in is to not think about it and keep still as you manual over the coping. It’s very easy to panic. As I get older I have been avoiding larger roll ins. To answer your question, no. Although you will want to stay light on your back foot during the roll in, you don’t actually lift your foot off the board.

    Great review; I like how short and direct it is. Lighting is unique: very interesting. One note for your viewers’ experience if you film future shoe review videos - when you were showing features/the side holes to the camera, a lot of it wasn’t in frame until the end of the video. Also, you showed them for a really short amount of time; too short, in my opinion.

    Hello, I’m not casting team, director, and agents. Here’s the tips get casted on Survivor: They want to get to know who you are. We want to hear about your life. They want to see your facial expressions when you tell a story. That’s what they’re looking for. They’re looking for authenticity. They’re looking to find people that they will basically become emotionally invested in.” You don't have to be anything other than who you are. It sounds so simple, but it's the absolute truth. You do not need an emotional underdog story, you do not need to be the funniest person in the room, you don't need to have a college degree, you don't need to be anything other than you.” He added, “Putting on a front doesn't work anyway, as our process is designed to sniff out anyone who isn't being authentic.” Similarly, Tannenbaum advises “Survivor” hopefuls: “Do not make a script. No scripts whatsoever.” “You don’t want to memorize what you’re going to say [because] you’re going to sound like a robot. Once again, I’m going to say this word over and over again: authenticity is what we look for,” he continued. “You want to just kind of be yourself. Be unfiltered. Be uncensored. Unapologetically yourself. If you curse, you curse. It’s OK. This is not a boardroom meeting. This is not a job interview. I need to see what you look like behind closed doors when you’re with your best friend, or your husband, or your wife, or you’re just having fun and laughing and telling a story, because that’s what we look for, as well-great storytellers.” You need submitting your application video from between August and October could significantly shorten this wait time, as it aligns with the casting team's active review period. Good video. Good luck! Don’t give up! Just submitted your audition video from between August through December until they call you back! They want to show your personality.

    Should my body be perpendicular to the flat ground or the transition? My nose comes up too high and it’s hard to level the Ollie

    • @DJG623
      @DJG623 4 місяці тому

      Your shoulders should be parallel with your board during the Ollie. So yes, your body should be perpendicular to whatever obstacle you are ollieing onto.

  •  4 місяці тому

    Is there something you can focus on to make this easier? Should I focus on trying to "stand on my back leg" or is it more important to try to focus on "keeping the front foot lifted".

    • @DJG623
      @DJG623 4 місяці тому

      For the slash, ensuring your bodyweight is mostly on the heel of your back foot while simultaneously lifting the nose (completing the frontside kickturn) is essential for safety. Also, approaching the quarter with the mindset of creating a rainbow, or a more obtuse angle gives you more time to get that back truck on and off the coping.

    •  4 місяці тому

      @@DJG623 Ah, so it should feel a bit like rotating around the heel of the back foot? At 0:03 it looks like your heels are really far back, hang over the heelside edge. Is this intentional and how you setup your feel for the slash? Do you pump up / pump down any special way to do the slash, and should you be mostly "standing up" during the actual slash, or should you be "crouching down", or bending the back leg a bit during the actual slash?

    • @DJG623
      @DJG623 4 місяці тому

      You CAN pump up into the slash. That’s a pretty strong way to guarantee the truck will reach the coping. But it takes more commitment. If you stand up and pump back down into the quarter, you’ll likely do a FS stand up grind (FS 5-0). Which is pretty scary and has a hang up factor.
