Thanks for visiting my channel! I live in Grand Rapids MI where I teach at Chapel Pointe Church and serve as an adjunct prof at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. I post biblical studies regularly at drdavidlturner.com.
My site banner image tells you what this channel is all about. It's Romans 12:1 in a Greek New Testament manuscript (Papyrus 46) from 1800 years ago. In this pivotal verse, Paul tells the Romans to put what he has taught them into practice:
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing, and perfect will." (NIV)
I pray God will use my videos to help you understand who you are in Christ and guide you as you follow him. If you find help here, please subscribe!

A Conversation with Prof Chris Miller about His Recent Matthew Commentary.
Dr. Chris Miller is a long-time Bible professor at Cedarville University. He and I have known each other since graduate school, but we've seldom had a chance to have a good conversation. The publication of his recent commentary on Matthew in the Regular Baptist New Testament Exposition Commentary Series provided a great opportunity for us to get together. I've also posted on the book at drdavidlturner.com.
In this video we begin with a bit of reminiscing about how our paths have crossed through the years. Soon we move to Matthew and touch on the following key points:
• How Chris did this work, and how it affected him personally
• The distinctives of the RBNTEC series
• Who will profit from reading the commentary
• Matthew's teaching and contemporary dispensationalism
Most impactful for me was Chris's answer to my question about a teaching of Matthew that was greatly needed by American churches today. Chris pointed to Matthew 10, where Jesus spoke of the persecution his disciples would endure. I've thought about this myself, and it definitely made me ponder the easy life that I and most Christians in my circles live.
This is a commentary that gets right to the point, for the good of the church, evoking John Calvin's "clear brevity" model of commenting. I hope you take a good look at this book. I recommend it highly.
Go to drdavidlturner.com for my more detailed notice about this book and the place it takes in dispensational discussions of Matthew.

A Grace Conversation with Jeremy Grinnell on the Bellowing of Cain
Переглядів 89Місяць тому
My friend and former colleague Jeremy Grinnell messed up, and he's not afraid to tell us about it. Jeremy was teaching theology at the graduate level and preaching every Sunday when it happened. It didn't take long for him to be unemployed, involved in a plea-bargain, and deeply repentant. His life would never be the same, but, thanks to God's grace, his life was far from over. Today you'll sti...

Colossians 2:20-3:4-The Cure for the Summertime Blues
Переглядів 85Рік тому
As we've noted in previous videos, the Colossians were in trouble. So Paul unpacked the all-sufficient fullness of the risen Lord Jesus Christ as the answer to the legalistic mysticism (mystical legalism?) that threatened to imprison them. Christ in all his glory and power is still the answer to whatever might be troubling you today. When I made this video on July 27 2023, it was 90 degrees in ...
Complete in Christ: Colossians 2:6-19

This video expounds Colossians 2:6-19, the heart of Colossians. Here Paul gets down to the real business he had in mind when he wrote to this church. The video accompanies a recent post on Colossians 2 at drdavidlturner.com, a post written for Passion Week to teach about the full sufficiency of the crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ, the Head of the church which is his body. I apologize for ...

In our conversation Wendy explains how God led her through roadbloc...
Paul's Mystery Ministry: Colossians 1:24-2:5
Переглядів 38Рік тому
In Colossians 1:24-2:5 Paul transitions from his profound poem about Jesus (1:15-20) to his pastoral concern for the Colossians. As he said in 1:23, they will experience the riches of Christ only if they persevere in the faith. Paul will go on to warn them directly about their dangerous dabbling with angel worship and legalism in 2:8-23. Here he lays the foundation for that warning by describin...
Colossians: Complete in Him.3 Christmas in Colossae (1:13-23)
Переглядів 302 роки тому
In this video we expound Colossians 1:13-23, Paul's profound teaching on Jesus as the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, the one in whom all divine fullness dwells, and thenone who has reconciled an alienated world to God. The Colossians were being distracted by bogus teaching about worshiping [with?] angels and keeping human rules. Colossians 1 lays the foundation for...

This is the second video in our series on Colossians. It ties into our post Giving Thanks with Paul at drdavidlturner.com. In the video we expound Colossians 1:1-15, emphasizing Paul's thanksgiving and prayer for the Colossians. Seminaries at the Crossroads: A Conversation with John Lillis

In this video I talk about current issues and trends in theological education with my old friend John Lillis. John's expertise comes from decades of serving as an administrator and teacher in seminaries around the world. You can read...
The Blessed Virgin Mary, John 2, and Prayer.
Переглядів 582 роки тому
What do you think about Mary, the blessed virgin? Do you understand what people mean when they speak of her immaculate conception? Do you simply respect her example as a fellow-follower of Jesus, or do you pray to her as the Queen of Heaven? There are three intended outcomes for this video. First, you'll be able to understand what people-Protestants, Roman Catholic, and Orthodox alike-are sayin...

We go over the plan, contents, and intended audience of the book See my post o...
