Pip I did too! I was there yesterday on Saturday(12/15). A lot needs to be fixed but I have faith in the show.

Elizabeth Leaf I saw it on Friday. I agree with the things needing to be fixed, but that comes with a lot of shows and I feel that only a few things would need to be changed. All in all it’s a gorgeous show

Pip considering it's in its first run, I think Malloy is trying to see what the audience likes or doesn't like and hes going to cut it from there. Though I love musicals 3 1/2 hours was too long show! 😹

Broadway singers such as Shoba Narayan have great diction. They tend to have crisper diction than pop singers because the audience needs to understand what they're singing, right then.

I saw it as well. It’s an amazing show and I almost cried multiple times

unfortunately, I don't think its likely to get anywhere past the A.R.T. Its too all over the place and I don't think there are cuts/edits that can really save it and make it commercially viable, but hopefully a cast recording happens.

@@comrade_salem Googling this now and it seems that someone has it as "opium" on Genius lyrics and that's been copied onto other sites and the contributer has cited their own listening and knowledge of book passages and that line isn't in the book so that will have been their interpretation of what they heard just like you and me. Another says "opiate" and cites the line "opium-like listlessness of vacant, unconscious reverie is this absent-minded youth by the blending cadence of waves with thoughts" so of course "opium-like" could be changed to "opium" or "opiate" but it feels more likely that it's the latter. More poetic and it is the literal meaning of "opiate." (Another site says "oh, love me to sleep / oh, you vacant waves" which I just don't think is correct.) So I shall edit this and while I don't believe you are quiiiite correct, thank you for prompting me on this journey again now there are more sources with lyrics than back in the day when it was just the soundcloud recording, me, and the three other people who cared XD

@@comrade_salem Nah, you're fine! Most fandoms I guess are a lot more organized and formal and have lyrics they know are right but yeah alas we lack that.

Have you heard, it’s now a Nick number! It’s now a love duet between Ishmael(whom Nick plays) and Queequeg, who is dying and, in the new version of this song, is trying to comfort Ishmael over his passing. Very interesting and new way to look at this song, I’d say!
