I speedrun. Sometimes I even speedrun fast!
[WR] Super Mario 63 Any% Speedrun in 6:09.750
First ever 0x! Really happy to be the one to break this barrier. Falcon made a big push for it, and he could've easily gotten it first too, but at least for now, I'm still ahead.
I'm still not finished though. The run still has some big, notably 2 seconds in Space 1 and over a second in T1R3 (kinda crazy I kept the run going after losing so much in a single room so early on). So it will still take a PB or two (or three (or four)) to get to where I'd like to be. I'm kinda enjoying the grind so far though, so can't complain.

With this run, I now hold the WR for every full game category on SM63 main leaderboards. Not bad! TIme to do the same with category extensions now. The run is okay, it really didn't need to take me as long as it did lol. I got PBs of 30:02, 30:01, and 30:00 which is uhhhh. Anyway, sub 30 secured, we got the bag. Next up is fluddless any%. Pretty good! I'd say I'm pretty happy with this. Obviously still beatable, but, well, every speedrun ever is beatable, so yknow. Next up is all bosses. Took me a little while, but finally got a pretty decent run. To be honest, it's not exactly what I was looking for (I could in theory get 6:4x, but realistically I was looking for something like 6:51-6:52), but eh, I think this will be good enough. After a grind that took me 6 months, this is the end result. This is a time that I always dreamed of getting, but it often seem so far away, so unlikely to happen - until it happened. What a run. As far as I remember, this is the first time I got a record with so few mistakes. Even some of my most notable runs in the game (e.g. the 6:18 and the 6:34) still had multiple seconds worth of mistakes...

Wooo another 5 frame improvement! Truly the greatest breakthrough of the century. To be honest, this was definitely a better-executed run than my previous record, I just happened to lose almost 3 seconds from missing cutscene skip. Well, I finally got a breakthrough, just not a very big one. This run felt very mediocre all throughout - decent early game, a few mistakes in Bowser 3, okay-ish space, and a silly meteor in escape. Ayy, sub 4:10! Took a bit longer than I thought to get there, but hey, at least it happened. Damn! You've got a really fast computer! I mean, Super Mario 63 runs a bit slow on a Windows Vista laptop with 512 MB of RAM, 64 MB of Video Memory, & an Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.6 Ghz CPU. What are the specs of your computer? (Just curious to know)
There's an odd sense of satisfaction seeing a familiar game that I've invested a month of my childhood, lots of rage, happiness, getting dismantled so effortlessly in under an hour. I was 63/64 sprites and coins, but I didn't know how to get the cannon to the edge of the kindgom to work. Bravo.
